Hi all, i'm not sure if there's a thread for this since i don't think i seen any for several pages. I recently purchased a RC 1/16 Tiger I tank (i'm a big avid fan to tanks) and i was wondering if anyone have collected these RC tanks? I look forward to collect a few more like King Tiger and Leopard tanks (i hope they release a Maus). I learnt that these RC tanks can be equipped with the Battle System, does anyone know where to get it in KL? There's also a few questions to the RC tanks collectors like, how much abuse can the tank take in rough terrains (open grounds)? Also, is there any place that sells metal RC tanks? Those babies can crush a toy car!



For those who don't have any knowledge about them, they can fire BB pellets (6 mm size) and according to their manuals, up to the range of 25 to 30 meters (i'm not sure if it's true or not but i'm gonna test it out tonight). It has some lighting and various sound effects from starting the engines, to firing the turret (with shock effect) and machinegun sounds.



The drums behind the tank generates smoke. A very nice cosmetic effect there

Sorry to say that i couldn't recommend you SUVs, vans or 4 wheel drives coz i'm not familiar with those though.

If it's about tanks and if you want all the nifty functions, i say go for Tamiya's since they have the "Full Option" functions. But if you couldn't afford those, try Heng Long's, they're in a affordable price range with similar functions.

If it's possible if there's anyone that knows any shops that sells upgradable tank parts, it'll be great for my tank to get metal tracks and wheels.

How Much Budget RM300

RM 300 is more than enough to get a Heng Long's tank. I got mine for RM 260

I always wanted the Tamiya Sherman tank ...

There's Panzer III, Leopard, Panther and Tiger I. Apparently, they'll gonna release a few more variations like Tiger I's mid to late production models, King Tiger, Panver IV and a Sturmgeschutz III.

But if you preffer to do some modding to your RC tank, it's also possible.

Sorry guys for the late replies!

A few handful tips from what i learnt...

Never bring your RC tank (with plastic tracks, sprockets and wheels) out in the open ground with more than an inch high grass. Because the sprockets and wheels and tracks are made of plastic, they can't handle the stress so, don't be surprise that your sprocket wheel decides to break!

To prevent this from happening, (and to play them on the open ground), you gotta upgrade them to metal tracks, sprocket wheels and wheels with a whole metal suspension to sustain the stress from rough terrains. It'll cost you some cash but look at it this way...YOU CAN CRUSH TOY CARS with it.

Due to the speed of the RC tank, a nice little trick is to put some weights inside the tank but make sure your Tank's gear engines can handle the load.

You probably able to find Heng Long's brands from several RC shop dealers.
I know a shop on the 6th floor in Times Square sells some

Unless you want the Special Edition models, i haven't seen any place selling them yet or maybe i haven't look them up hard enough.

The Special Edition models comes with a metal suspension, turret barrel flashes when fired, machine gun turret at the body of the tank that moves by its own, a few more openable hatches

Actually, there are a few camo variations for Tiger I's but as for the weathered down, i guess you have to do it yourself

A Tamiya 1/16 Tiger I costs about RM2600 but you can bargain to RM2000. However, the Heng Long one, I managed to find for around RM280 at Amcorp Mall.

1) Does anyone know who the main importer for Heng Long tanks in Malaysia is?

1) First of all you are lucky that i found you in this malaysian rc tank site, as it took me 2 months to track and check entirely all models and shops in the country.
2) There are no big importers but small individual ones that orders by phone and made visits to the factory in china currently because, the china ones are affordable by us

chinese suppliers are only interested for big quantity rc tank orders to be placed by the malaysian toy businesses.
3) My friend is selling tanks currently and am ever willing to help you get the metal road wheels ( called caterpillar include sprockets and metal gear)
smoke generators as well from the real shop that has service parts in mind for real customers.
4) i have 5 heng long tanks now and currently upgrading one at a time, as it takes a cost of rm 725 /-to each model which is the ultimate perfect,includes 3000mah

The camo Tiger Tank is sweet indeed. A friend of mine just bought one i.e. the original clr for RM250 at Graffiti Hobby at Berjaya Time Square. I belief this version (plastic track) can be cheaper as the one that comes with steel track is already out in the market overseas (not sure in here in M'sia). Anyhow if the camo version is out there i don't mind getting one of this babies. Can someone highlight to me where can i get the camo tiger tank I (just to make me friend jealous). By the way the shop also sells the steel track for RM220/- and they said they also have other upgrades such as metal gears and stuff but not sure how much the damages $$$ there though.

Hello there. I also have a german tiger 1. But a already dismantel my barrel and the firing mechanism. I used it for my collage project. So im trying to buy the spare parts for it. Also i need the bottom unit that holds the suspensions system coz mine already broken 3 suspension + wheels.. Does anyone sell the parts that i need?

I m new to this forum, I m from SG. Interesting to know that there is a following in the 1/16 tank scene here in MY. I have both HL (Heng Long) and Tamiya tanks and use them to do "Battle" with the guys in our tank club over here every twice a week. All my tanks are upgraded to the Infrared battle systems including the HL one.

For the serious tankers its not difficult to get upgrade parts here in SG.... no smoke generators or BB guns please

Look for Graffiti shop at 6th floor Times Square, they got most of the Heng Long tank. Also got those infra red type for war games... All part also got sell there even the upgrade motor, wheel and engine metal gearing also got.

You mean the ifrared type by VS? Have tested those already, it seems that only a certain no. of tanks ...max 6 if I m not wrong can engage at one time cos of freqnecy clash. And when played outside under bright sunny conditions can hardly hit each other even from 3 feet away!!!!

Am not sure what brand it is, don't think is suitable for outdoor under bright sunny condition...
Indoor should be ok as its more for fun only...

Well, ive bought mine somewhere in kelana jaya, not 1/16, but 1/24, kinda pricey compared 2 HL, but the quality if top notch Can also fire 6mm pellet, but cant give out smoke. Its pretty interesting if u 1 sumthin dat doesnt require modding. HL barrel for Tiger I is kinda a wee bit short, like halfway in firing... Mine is Late war version.

Yup I just finally bought up 1. Last 2 week, once bought from internet got problem adi with battery cost me rm100. Mine 1/16 RC tanks is U.S M41A3 Walker Bulldog Light Tank include smoke generator.











Actually I want to buy VSTanks which more high details even smaller than mine but I dont mind. Bcoz I check most in the internet who sell VSTanks did not shipping to Malaysia. Until I saw in the forum some1 said at Berjaya Times Square did selling it.

Came back from HK with the following ....







This is a fully assembled 1:16 ready-to-run Tiger 1. The chassis and wheel sprockets are in metal. It's much, much cheaper than the Tamiya version. Overall, I just buy the cheaper version. I can also do some mod on this since I've the necessary tools/paints use for my 1:35 collections.

I bought my VS Tank from Kelana Jaya. Got a RC shop over there that sells VS Tank.

@greenarrow2k6: bro, if you're into making the tank more real, modification on the commander's cupola is needed I did read it somewhere that it just need to be separated from turret by using knife because it's only glued-on. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Sheeshhh .. can't join you people as I'm from Singapore. Basically, I'm a armored vehicles freak Have a small collections of 1:24 and 1:35 Tamiya tanks. My first 1:16 was a US Sherman wired control type as rc during that period is very expensive. My latest is a rc Tiger 1 which I got it while holiday @ HK. Cost less than USD 100.00

@joohui89: If you're in KL, do check in BTS, last time I went there they do have upgrades for metal tracks. You ought to try finding it also in Kelana Jaya, but I can't recall the name of the RC shop there

The problem is a bad solder joint on the rx pcb inside the tank. Resoldered and the range is now more acceptable. I might be selling this and get a Tamiya Leopard 2A6 as I'm a fan of Tamiya 1/35 series tanks. Where in KL can I locate shops selling this?

If you're keen on 1/35 model tank, Hobby HQ should do the trick I guess. Used to be located in City Square, but now it's now in Jalan Metro Pudu, Fraser BIZ Park, 55100 KL.

depends on the agreement of the members. but as of now, the meetup will be in november since this month most will be doing on diorama
i think most of us are using henglong here, tamiya would cost a bomb, and vs tank, although great oob, the size is tad small
it all depends on preferences though, vs tank engine sound would also only play when it moves, there is no idle sound and no engine smoke :/

so far the review stated the gearbox are wee bit unsatisfactory comparative to heng long's, and the bulge on the lower glacis plate is kinda distracting, heh

Bulldog is one of few early heng long that doesn't have many problems
So far mine are HL King Tiger and VS Tiger
Maybe later will get another one, prolly HL Jagdpanther :I

you can't go wrong with King Tiger. It's huge, it has the new rx18 board inside, dimension-wise it has no problem. My second choice would be Panther G. Third would be a Stug III/Jagdpanther (although the lower glacis plate of Jagdpanther is kinda off).

Hi. I newie to RC tank, but very very interested to own/buy one. For months now I have been searching the net about it-yes it is getting more exciting and interesting but more confusing too...Any recommendations of where or what to buy. The german tanks eg Tiger tank seems ok. More interested in a metal track and gear airsoft RC tanks of scale 1:16.
