What kinda weird sound you encountered?

yeah it does save you some money, in the meanwhile you are spending a bit of money too... LOL...

Flash photography is really different... You are the one who is controlling the lights.. really pengsan sometimes....

err.. kinda hard to explain. lol. can someone just shake your 400d and the kit len for me please.

No sound.. only got sound of my hand rubbing plastic... damn! i hate the plastic body of 350D. >< canon.. why oh why... why rebels aren't made of magnesium alloy......

keep cost down with their highest moving low end model

I will definitely still buy my rebel if it was RM300 more.... THE ONLY PART IT SUCKS IS THE PLASTIC BODY!

anyway i figure it out. the sound came from the flash hinge thingi. and other forum say it was normal for 400d. wala. phew.

for about rm500 to 600 more you can get the 40d

When i bought 350D... there was no 40D.... there was only 30D... and 30D was 5k+.. 350D costed me 1.9k only...

And HEll yeah... 40D is really dirt cheap for what it has.... It's really tempting me, but i have decided to invest into my lens... hahaha... Wait 50D come out first... then BUY!!!!

NO.. i seldom... really really seldom.... when i first got my 1.8.. yes i do.. i snap at f1.8... all pictures.... Now i know that it's important to control the bokeh when snapping potraits or else it'll turn out a mess for the background... =) I usually snap 2.4 above for full body or half body potraits...

more like controlling depth of field.

anyway my post wasn't about depth of field, it's about sharpness.

sure it can go f1.8 but for lenses, they're not at their sharpest when at their widest aperture. which is why snapping at f1.8 on the 50mm would mean that you not only have lesser DOF but also less sharp pictures.

i see... the 50mm f1.8 is sharp after f2.8.. i have figured out from the pictures i have took to test...

There's a MTF chart to read to identify the best f stop for the sharpest quality. But til now i have not figured out how to read it...

yeah. i usually snap at 2.8. i might increase (meaning lower number) a bit if i need the condition needs it.

Yeah... i also do that...

BTW, do you know how to read the MTF chart?
