they are all in KL. Bandar Tasik Selatan oh i dont put any cage outside the house. they are in their own room. they are some tenants have indoor cats in their house, and some indoor and outdoor cats. so during mating season, you can hear this cat calling sound. And sometimes fighting.

Added on March 8, 2008, 9:39 pmHeheh not only gagah but very manja, naughty, and playful. not naughty towards people and the property, but naughty towards my housemate cats. my other cats include his sibling already immune with abang naughty-ness but my housemate cats come from a genetic (their mom) which cannot be disturb. they do not like intruders. when abang wanted to play with them, they will think abang want to fight. abang love to jump like a rabbit

Kakak and adik is still here with me and the other cats. Both of them loves the dressing room, i mean the cage - they will sleep inside the cage and grooming them self in there. Happy sisters

Do any of you brush your cat's teeth? If yes, where to get the items?

yes i brush my cats teeth. some of them very hard, need 2 person, one holding the cat body, one brushing the teeth. remember not to force them if they don't want. else you might getting the cat to hate you more than the brush. if you have a hard time, get your vet help. they will first check your cat teeth and gums to make sure there is not sensitive or bleeding area which may cause painful while brushing. then the vet will tell you if the teeth and gums condition. some cat food may reduce tartar in cats mouth... Science Plan have this one food product to clean cat teeth, its in bigger kibble size which when the cat bite on the kibble it will tear of the tartar that stick on the teeth. not sure the name, if im not mistakan something with "dental care".

you can use human tooth brush.. the one for small kids. the small size and soft brush. (if you cannot find it at petshop). just make sure the brush size is small, and the soft one. (brush got different type right, there are soft, medium, and hard).

some pet shop here selling tooth brush, if you can find any at petshop than get it from there. i saw some at petshop, but does not have that much different with the kids tooth brush. same size, just different design.

as for toothpaste you need to get this at vets or petshop. don't use human toothpaste, else it will upset their stomach. if you do not have serious teeth and gums issue, use without it also alright. i use without toothpaste at the moment, cos my cats do not have serious mouth issues, just for the sake of cleaning and remove bad smell ehehehe.

yea last year in march. so this month consider 1 year age already for 3 of them... found at Setiawangsa near GIANT and McD.

Do they need it?Coz in their natural habitat there were no teeth brushing?Is it essential?

If you like their bad mouth smell then don't lorh. But i brush to buang the bad smell and to reduce high chances of gum desease. Something..

my sis sent gemok to the vet and the vet said that his health is superb for a cat his age and especially his weight..no arthritis etc etc... even his liver etc is still perfect....

but he has kidney problems did a blood test and the count for a normal kidney is 30...his is somewhere around 110 so the vet gave some meds, and if by tomorrow or day after theres no improvement, we have to admit him.

she also said gemok lost weight...but then lost weight pun still weighed in at 6.7kg

Most cat food now has ingredients that no Cat in the wild will be eating, and also extra things in them to make them last longer. Unfortunately, just as now humans need to brush their teeth because of exposure to things that make them unhealthy so do cats.

Unhealthy gums and teeth in cats can cause many problems for their digestive tract, infection of gums can spread to liver heart and kidneys, not to mention really bad breath.

To start with, you can wrap a thick piece of gauz around your finger, get it wet, and rub their teeth and gums. This is so they get used to having you put something in their mouth and mess with their teeth, but you don't have to worry about accidently poking them with the handle of a toothbrush. Later a small soft tooth brush designed to brush toddlers teeth will be perfect. If you can't get toothpaste from a vet or pet store, a bit of baking soda mixed with water is also fine.

Brushing a cat's teeth might be a pain for the both of you, but it's a small price to pay for the health of loved one. ^^

yes you can say cat natural habit they do not brush the teeth. but remember, your cat is living with you as pet at home, not as pet in the wild . so it is your responsibility if you have pets in your house. they are like one of your family already. and don't treat them like a stray cat if you have in the house. that is not consider home pet, and such a waste if you say you love your cat but treat them like stray cats. am i right?

like human, let say in future you want to adopt a child from orphan house. will you treat him/her like strangers or treat like your know family and children?

you cat may get gums disease and bacteria if you do not clean their mouth or giving food that do not clean the tar tar on their teeth. some clue when you have cats with teeth and gums problem is, they will chew and bite more often because of the painful in the mouth. the cat gums may bleed and bacteria occur. and your cat loose weight because cannot eat that well when their gums hurt.

one more thing, home pet eat hard kibbles. so they need good teeth and gums to chew that hard kibbles. as for stray they might be wasted food from us like eating soft rice, soft chicken, fishes, etc. this wasted food is not as hard as kibbles.

maybe lost weight - the weight drop from previous weight. thats what the vet meant by lost weight. like 7kg drop 6.7kg consider lost weight. 7kg up 8kg consider gain weight.
