I'm not really sure how old is the kitten, but i think its still young around 1-2 weeks i guess.

About the litter (sand/crystal/pine wood). How much do they usually cost? How does this thing work by the way? Do i scoop out the poop when they poop on them or replace the litter ?

Ohh yeah, is it really necessary buying a cage for a kitten ?

ouch 1-2 weeks? very fragile!! don't the kittens have their mother? if they have mother, better let them stay with their mother until 2-3 months. unless, if orphan you really need more time, and bottle feed them. they will always meow meow and scream for milk like every 2 hours.

sand is the cheapest, then crystal, and then pine wood. all of them have their own advantages. sand can easily get at any hypermarket. the cheapest the like giant brand, tesco brand, etc. and other sand/clay brand will cost around Rm12-15 like that lah. for a start you can use sand/clay, just make sure its clumping hard smile.gif you will need to scoop the pee and poo poo atleast twice a day. just scoop the dirty one and throw. let them use the remain one. if it become lesser, add more litter.

but if the cat age is 1-2 weeks, you don't need litter and litter box, they can't even really see well, still blur blur, and they can't even walk. they will just pee and poo anywhere.

at this age, cage is not necessary, you can just put them in a big box with towel. but at room temperature. new born kitten need warm air condition.

but you need cage if the kitten is about 2-3 months above. why?
- you need to toilet train them. so cage is useful for them training poo and pee inside the litter box.
- they are small, you need to keep them inside the cage, else they will walk around actively, you might not want people to step on them. so cage is very useful at young age.

again, if the kitten is 1-2 weeks old, you do not need all this, all you need to buy is milk for kitten/cat at petshop, the bottle to feed them (can buy in petshop), a box, used towel, some tissue for you to wipe them and clean them (dont bath them at this age).

if you have successful rising them until age 2-3 months, then you can start thinking of getting the litter, litter box, sccop, cage, wet food, kibbles food, toys, shampoo, grooming items, etc smile.gif

i always like PetsMore at Queens Park Jalan Peel, next to Carrefour. Members got discount smile.gif

beside that, you can go to Taman Segar near leisure mall, look for Segar Vets, they have petshop too smile.gif

Putrajaya - i get my proformance cat food at the petshop in taman warisan.

shower is extra only. if your cat is smelly then shower. mine once a week mandi. becareful with shampoo too smile.gif get a good one. if the cat got fleas, then use fleas shampoo, if no fleas dont buy the fleas one smile.gif then i bought conditioner too. its all up to you smile.gif for a start, get simple stuff first. later you get culture shock of having cat with high budget, so start slowly, get what you need first. at this time, you need to start experiment all brand from litter, too food smile.gif see which suit your budget and cat smile.gif

if you dont mind travel to puchong from putrajaya, there is this vet cum pet shop also near tesco puchong, st angel, price is cheaper compare to other pet shops, im talking about vet treatment, nurturing, cat's food, night stay, deworming.

some comparison :
in subang mayo clinic, nurture male cat is at range rm120, in st angel is only at range rm90, less than rm100 for sure
night stay in one vet in old klang road, night stay is rm20 range, but in st angel only rm14.
10% of cat food like science diet, iams. i dont even ask for the discount!

few RM different, but say if u have like 8 furry kids, like me, i take it man! sweat.gif

will put it later smile.gif thanks for the ideas smile.gif

what age is good to give kittens away for adoption? = as long as it start eating and drinking by them self, normally above age of 4 months when they fully separated from their mother care. nod.gif

what age to vaccine and deworm? = Rabies vaccination is given at 3-4 months of age and then once a year later. Deworming started around 4-6 months of age, some people do it 3 times a year, some once a year.

while in BABY PETS SURGERY AND VETERINARY CLINIC, Taman Equine: Male = RM80, Female = RM135. If there is no emergency pets, you can bring them home straight away. My case, I sent both male and female at 10:30am, i get them back at 3-4pm after they wake up.

Its good for you to call any vets before coming. Ask them the price, and time arrangement, and ask if your cat need to stay overnight or not.

normally spay and neuter kitten at the age of 4 months. because, on heat situation is different from one and another cat. some kitten start on heat at young age. example, my male kitten start on heat at the age of 10 months, while my friend male kitten start on heat on 7 months. you can easily see this when they start making that loud sound, rub their self at walls and start smelling the private part of the female.

the standard age is 6 months. some get faster, some slower. even i have a friend with female cat that start on heat after 1 1/2 years. so very hard to say when they can start having sex and pregnant. that is the reason why recommended age of spay/neutering is at age of 4 months.

some source from the net saying that a female kitten can get pregnant at the age of 5-6 months. they will have this smell of attraction, and the male kitten or cat will easily attract smile.gif

maybe some cat lovers have a good answer. this is only my 2 cent base on vets info, readings and experiences.

ehehe lucky i answer and assume your question base on - on heat and get pregnant smile.gif so you get my answer already (above) ?? most people will "kembiri" at the age 4-5 months for both male and female.

beside the advantage of not getting pregnant, you also get a good healthy cat. and most neuter/spay cat will behave entire of their life. so if you "kembiri" at early stage you get good behavior cat. just like human, if you dont teach your child at early young age, soon they get spoil easily.

no, its ok. i only vaccinate my cats before and after surgery coz i have too many cats.

from my experience, it is ok. i had delays in vaccination before. unless your cat just undergo surgery, there might be risk internally according to my vet. if no, no problem lah bro.

The 2nd vaccine following the 1st time you vaccine is referred as booster (even tho it's the same vaccine but since it's the 1st time you vaccine, they need to double it to make it stronger or sort)

Will you be coming back to KL?

I took the booster 1 week later than the appointment date cuz I went back kampung as well, ofcourse I checked with the doc 1st and they said 1 week delay is fine.

If not, then have to find a vet in Trgganu lah.

I'm sure ada smile.gif

I found vets even in Kelantan wink.gif

I'm not sure if it's okay if it's the first time you vaccine cuz the 2nd one is the booster and is usually important to strengthen the vaccine for 1st timers.

Delayed a bit is fine, but I wouldn't advice to skip it totally.

Double check with the vet will be better.

my doctor once said, vaccination for cat is like us human take rubella (for female), bcg and anti-tetanus we take in high school.

like us human, we had our first BCG injection after birth, then second at the age 7. there is no specific date or week for the second BCG, but the optimum age is at 7. any month at the age of 7. in short term, nothing happen, in long term after few years, no BCG lead to smallpox and serious illness like tuberculosis.

same goes to cat. the doctor will just suggest a date that is suitable to get second vaccination, i had delays before. normally my doctor dont tied me on a specific appointment date, just like "after march 15, can come take second vaccination when convenient to you" but of course delays referring to days and weeks. dont la delay half a year! sweat.gif

it is one simple way to look at it blush.gif
