70-80's anime robots were pretty basic.
you said 5 planes that can change to robot then all 5 combine into a bigger robot i can only recall transformers superion doing that.
as i recall most anime don't have anything that can transform from pane to robot then combine to bigger robot.
usually it is some vehicle then combine into a big robot.
usually teams of 3 (Getter Robo) or single hero (Grandizer)
but it might be something obscure as there are a few from my memory i kenot find
