sounds alright imho.... the DAC section probably didnt affect much....now waiting for the opamps for my amp...no money to pay mike yet..have to wait til after gaij.
DACs from my experience dont really get much effect from opamps. amps on the other hand are significant. |

look at the LM49720. notice that 1 side has a notch or a circle on it?
next remove the opamp u wanna replace.... look at the socket... notice the socket has a notch on it as well?? make sure the notch/ circle on the opamp matches the socket. plug it in and ur done |

@utellme
PM mikelanding... see if he has any to spare... anyway.... i just tried my ZERO with my X3i. and i didnt like it. sounded very weird. bass was lacking and it was also very weird... like something not right. cant put my finger on it...but it just wasnt right for me. but the X3i sounds superb direct from my W810i |

i think the opamp would be burnt.... thats what was told me to when i got my first opamps...."stick it in properly, follow the notch otherwise the opamp will burn"
anyway.. as for the stock opamps...i kinda like them actually....especially with my DT990 which has extended highs and lows....and recessed midrange. it actually helped to tame the highs on my DT990 abit. though bass was slightly lacking. but the mids were awesome. though yeah..sounds kinda tubey....but not by much imho. so it wasnt so boring listening to metal for me. but after putting in the 2107, i dont think i can go back to stock opamps. tamed highs, better bass, and a lil recessed mids. i can live with it. excellent soundstage and detail honestly. now i cant wait for my 2units of 627 to arrive from mike's 2nd bulk. then can plug in to the headamp section |

QUOTE(kwekeugene @ Apr 5 2008, 11:24 AM) Thanks for the info. So in total you'll have 3 dual OPA627s in your Zero. And you already upgraded yours with better caps/components earlier. I think the upgrades already cost as much as your Zero if not more actually the mods + opamps alone costs more than the ZERO itself already Ultimate Extreme Zero DAC/Amp? now just itching for the 627s to arrive.. QUOTE(GodLuvSxS @ Apr 5 2008, 09:35 PM) Emmm .... I just cant see any LME49720 impression in DAC section after few days of waiting? You guys threw the tissue paper wrap into rubbish bin ade? i still cant find mine...cant remember where i put it |

@kwekeugene
i suggest getting them chipset heatsinks like the ones from zalman or even coolermaster. should help dissipate the heat a little. of course itll be better if u can figure out a way to blow a fan on the heatsinks as well anyway..... wooooohhhhoooooo!!!!.......... just received my last 2 units of opa627s....thanks mike!!! gonna install them now Added on April 7, 2008, 4:06 pmall installed.... headamp section.... ![]() and finally.... those who are using PCs... check ur motherboard specs.. see if it has any SPDIF header or not. especially at the I/O ports at the back...if got...use that instead....
if dont have...check ur mobo manual. look for SPDIF pins on the motherboard itself. if got then use the SPDIF PCI bracket like the one i used....u can probably get this at sri computers or something...heck...check ur mobo package.. might even have it. ![]() this is what i used before i used the Maya44. works like a charm... no issues whatsoever and even had more volume than my Maya44. also easier to setup. |
