naah...me think me have to skip the offer for LT opamps this time around...

gotta concentrate all my fund to my car now which i just sent to the workshop for a makeover

anyway...ive tried pairing my ZERO (DAC-OPA627) + Battery Cute II (OPA2107) and i like how it sounds... better me thinks than the ZERO's own amp.

but having problems with my battery amp now... after about 20 minutes the sounds just fades away and turns into distortion

need to figure that one out... once thats done im gonna try the 627 in the battery amp.

confirm can...thats what ive been doing almost everyday since i got my unit...

i wonder why nobody's going into the 2nd bulk yet.....

headamp??? no need to upgrade... will probably shove in the OPA627 into my battery headamp.

right now the combo of ZERO (OPA627) + Battery amp (OPA2107) is awesome la...alot better than the ZERO headamp with OPA627. but not feeling rajin enough to open up both and put the OPA627 into the battery amp yet... heheheh

ok... i think ive decided on my final setup with the Zero....

ESI Maya44 -> (ZERO + OPA627AP in DAC) -> (Cute Battery II Headamp + OPA627AP) -> Beyerdynamic DT990 '05.

the battery has a slighly narrower soundstage than the zero's amp..but i dont really need soundstage since i listen mainly to metal.

ive always found the zero's built in headmp a lil weak for the DT990 for some reason...its as if there was some sort of veil to it.. almost muffled..dont get me wrong...they sounded good... but i knew there could be better. the battery has alot more power and alot more detail at the same volume level. everything is crisp and clear and even the bass is tighter and punchier. and more importantly..it didnt sound weak.

the only issue i have with this setup is that the 627 + browdog is a little "tall". the guy i bought it from placed the 627 in removable sockets so the sockets add to the height. which means i cant close my battery amp properly... LOL

anyway...i guess i need to get off my scrawny butt and get down to chopping up some Canare L-4E6S for some decent RCA-RCA cables.... currently using the RCA cables that came with my Firestone Audio Fubar II.

im using coaxial... although... ive tested plugging in both coaxial and optical at the same time form the same source... and switching between them using the front switch on the Zero.

cant tell any difference.

that wan me thinks u best ask empy himself..not my place to state prices...sorry.

but it was lesser than expected due to the fact there werent enough parts and lack of time to obtain them as empy was leaving for aussie in a few days.

must be something related with tubes

how about the person(s) who want to test the DAC with a speaker system offer their place for a mini-meet of about 4-5 people max? then u can test the speakers' synergy with the DAC. and others who uses headphones could also test it out at the same time...

it has been months and i havent heard jack about my LT samples...not even a phone call to verify anything

how many people here are still using the built in headamp??? i dont bother with it anymore as i find the Battery Cute II amp to be much better

anyway, i LOVE the 2107. i think theyre wicked awesome for the price. i especially love how they tamed the highs on my DT990 man. also making the sound airy makes music really enjoyable.

but since i paid like over 300 bux for my 627....im sticking to those

sounds very similar anyway, though it is better than the 2107 in more than one way

actually now only 1 in the DAC section and headamp section using 2107.

the other 2 627 is in my cute battery II amp. i not using the integrated headamp anymore and prefer my cute battery II amp. thats the final setup for now.


1/ and 2/ depends on ur taste... i HATE tube amps. makes me fall asleep listening to metal

3/ its a DAC with a built in headphone amplifier. u can also not use the built in amp and connect it to another amp like what im doing. u also need to learn wat opamp and preamp is. i dunno how to explain so google or wait for others to explain for u.

4/ to me yes....coz like i said... i HATE tube amps.

yeah the 2107 is definitely bang for buck and does sound very close to the 627.

though the 627 like others have said is more refined. can also hear more details clearly. though some might not even notice the difference.

imho, if ur not willing to pay the price of a 627, the 2107 is definitely a real good alternative. i absolutely fell in love with it the first time i tried it
