My friend (breeder in California), she just starting to breed Lion Head. I am thinking also to breed it. I think should be end of this year. Few new things are coming now. So, no budget now.

Added on February 19, 2008, 9:52 amGuys.. have u ever send ur rabbit for vaccin? After my nino died, i'm really afraid to have a new bunny.. afraid they might face the same condition as nino.. so i asked my vet - if there any vaccin for rabbit to avoid certain disease.. he said, got.. but we have to send them for vaccin only after they reach 4months age..

And one more question.. any of u have sent ur bunny for neutering/spaying? Is there any alternative to avoid them for breeding? Such as injection (cats do have injection if u dont want to put them under anasthetic n undergo the removal operation..)

Actually in Malaysia we dont really need to vacinate our rabbits. The reason most rabbits die is because of improper diet, or early weaning, which is you bought it from pet shop at an early age. Most likely if u buy it @ 1-1.5 months old, the pet shop has removed it from its mum at 3 weeks old or earlier which is very bad for the immune system. A lot of baby bunnies die b4 they turn 4 months because of this.

I have spayed both my bunnies although both are female, its better for thier health. Dont think theres any injection that can rpevent breeding though.

around 7 months -8 months old i think. Well each operation has its risks, thats something u hav to face. BUt the vet I went said so far he nvr lost any bunnies to spaying so I was a little more confident to take them to him.

The main advantage of spaying is to alter the aggressive behaviour so that the rabbit is able to live with another. No 100% guarantee in that. Also, with males, neutering will stop SPRAYING problems. If you are sick and tired of being sprayed or you always have golden shower from your buck, get it neutered.
