On KLSE, for trading normal shares, minimum is 1 lot = 100 units. So, in your case, you have to buy 100 units of shares = RM230.

There are the odd units but I don't know about those.....  wink.gif

thx for your answer.. last time i though all trading in KLSE is use 1000unit as basic.. recently only heard that 100 units oso can be traded.. like this i can start earlier to buy my desired stock since have limited money on hand.. icon_rolleyes.gif

I wanna ask something here. I'm a total newbie in stock market.

Let’s say I have 5 lot of a XY share which I bought at 1.60. After 2 months it went up to 1.80. Then I plan to sell it. Probably there is queue buy for 2 lots only. So it will automatically sell the 2 lots and remain the 3 lots right? If it like that by the time I managed to sell the remaining lots, then I’ll be charged 2 time brokerage fees right? How to know how much lots people planning to buy at that price? Sorry. Noob question.

Hope some sifus can guide me.

Unfortunately this can happen.

Due to the low liquidity of some stocks, you can face a problem when you want to sell the shares in the market at your prefered prices. Normally any brokerage online interface, you can see the queues for different prices.

Example for BUY queues;

2 LOT at RM1.80
10 LOT at RM1.79
5 LOT at RM1.78
etc.

Same with queuing to buy stocks. If you queued to buy 100 lots of a 20 sen share, but at the end of the day some one only sells you 2 lots. You still need to pay the minimum brokerage which is much higher in some cases for RM40 worth of purchase. It sucks to be in those situation, so only queue if you're confident it will move. And try not to leave your queue open in the last trading minutes.

Just to add:

If there is no transaction, then CDS statement will only be sent like 6 months once.

If there is constantly got transaction, they will send it monthly.

For those nominee account, you have no CDS, so KLSE won't send you any letter, whatever transaction is between you and the brokers that offering nominee service.

I'm using OSK and RHB platform.

Totally up to you to decide how many lots you wanna buy. As 2 lots for different shares will mean different amount. And different amount will have different risks for different people.

Just bear in mind the minimum brokerage charge for your brokerage house. Some have very low interest in online trades but some like OSK charge a minimum of RM40 per transaction through the phone regardless how much your trades are.

For me, it is not how many lots that i buy matters. It is the total amount that matters.

10lots@ RM0.10 = RM100.00
10lots@ RM3.00 =RM3000.00

When ever a transactions occurrs (buy/sell), it will cost me around minimum RM30 per trade. I try to make my cost of transaction around 1% per trade.

RM30+RM100 = RM130 equals 30% cost per trade which is ...... NOT good
RM30 + RM3000 = RM3030 equals around 1% cost per trade which is a lot better.

You would want lower the cost of trading so that you can see the returns earlier with lower breakeven point.

To trade, first you need to open a trading account. For this you can open with any investment trading company i.e. OSK, or any major banks which provide this service i.e. cimb, maybank, public bank....

Online trade, while opening the account, you can ask them anything which you needed to know.
After that, login to your online account and start trading.

MYETFDJ is a listed ETF, so it is just traded like a normal share. Last traded price is RM0.794 per share.

thanks for replying!

so it means, i can go to any cimb or maybank and opena trading acc. yayy..
since myetfdf price is rm0.794.. so 100 lots would be around rm79
maybe i plan to buy 200 lots... just to try learn trading as a newbie ...

any advice .. eg about broker fee, annual fee..
if i just let my money stay in the lots for long time (like a usual compound interest acc) will it vanish..? i plan to hold for long term ..

DiGi will pay an interim single-tier exempt dividend of 49.0 sen per ordinary share for financial year ending 31 December 2009 on 18 September 2009. The entitlement date is on 3 September 2009.

So if the digi share price is RM21.40
http://digi.com.my/stockinfo/stocklist.do

RM21.40/unit???

1 lot = RM21.40 x 100 = RM2140 ?

I would advice that you invest a minimum of RM 1000 on any company shares. There will be a minumum charges of RM12 for brokerage fee and RM 1 of stamp fee for investment of RM1k and below. So if u buy 200 lots of RM.0794 per share, the brokerage and stamp fee would have amounted to about 8% of your investment already :-P

Yes, it is possible to profit from share investment by just buying and holding the share for say 5 years, but must choose wisely on the company though ;-)

You get RM49 dividend for RM2,140 investment (excluding brokerage etc), for the interim period.
