Dude, I cant speak for you but I can tell you what I did after a very long while of being depressed.

The medications help to stem your emotions but not your thoughts. It feels good after awhile, but I felt it stemmed my abilities for free thought.

Lets see, I was on it for a month but I tapped of the dosage and did self monitoring and logged everything.

One day I just decided to 'do' something. Dusted off my running shoes, packed minimally (water, cam) and ran intervals.

speed walk 10m then sprint 10m, I was doped after awhile. now the trick here is the minimal part, I didnt bring cash so I cant grab a cab back which would force me to either walk back or crawl back lol.

it felt so good, i did again the following day. expanded my workout program to free weights.

my primary goal, to increase my dopamine levels.

No, I dont think I am out of the woods yet. lol. and running is something I dont normally do.

FREE YOUR MIND!

Part of the cure is changing your mindset. Hope this link helps.

I was jobless for 5 months before and hence, tasted depression. I remember shedding tears while I was sitting in my car waiting at a traffic light. Not a good place for anyone's mind to be in.

Stupid rite rclxub.gif , all of a sudden without logical reason your confidence just plummets, all -ve thoughts rush in to choke you, and feel like the whole worlds burden is suddenly on your shoulders.

After that, I think each of us needs some strong, great and resilient principles embedded in our minds. These indomitable beliefs in our minds will stop us from dropping to a lower state, and instead is a solid weapon to overcome troubles and to beat them, instead of letting it beat us. nod.gif

Also, Know and accept that depressions are just temporary.

Around like 4 to 5 months. Gradually lar. My case, managed to get a suitable job and that helped to boost and fight that low feeling. So gradually while starting to work again, it helped.

Initially it's like dragging 20 bucket's of water in the hot sun. but as you fight to move forward, more of the water spill out tongue.gif.

So it becomes easier to move faster as the buckets lose more water. Soon can walk normal as the buckets are emptied. Finally can run when the buckets are all empty! BUT don't stop too long because rain will surely fall again and buckets will fill with water.

Ah.. i just read from the same article that depressions is part of karma, cause and effect. Like a hukuman for something we all did in the past. So just bear with it lar, something like bayar hutang. After the period is over, then your debt is lighter.

So keep up your strength. It's only temporary! Don't lose to laziness.

. Too bad.... no matter how it is, it's impossible to be alone if you are in a forum like this hmm.gif logically lar. Hence, you and the rest here are not alone. All of us are sitting on the same planet. In a way it's impossible to be 'Alone'.

Again, it's just yourself using those -ve words on yourself. I know it's hard to catch or realize, but it's good to start catching those words like a game. Games are fun rite? So start catching the Alone, Sad, F**K, D** words before they do more damage man.

I'm failur.. NO! But then always .... Yeah right, as if Lim Goh Tong never fail before.. Haih.... What Haih!, nothing to do izzit? got this list of things to complete, got that place to go some more wanna waste time ar. I will never win 1.. D*u, cannot win here got so many other contests outside there. Life still going on, means can still win 1 mar. haiya, no one cares about.. care, care ,care ... what care u expect when u keep quiet. Ppl are not pyschic ok, U already big man still wanna act like baby meh? But then hor.... walaue, enough la.. get out get out dun kacau me already u dumb, negative stuff.

And so the game went on in my head...Shoot it before it shoots you down. hahaa.. thumbup.gif

You get a hobby. Anyway, depression is entirely a bad thing. It is because of depression then only you learn how to stand up again. But of course, you must have the strength and determination to climb out from it. Once you're out, you'll grow stronger, mentally.

If everything else fails, chat with us. Don't be alone. Haha.

There are many types of depression. Some may be triggered by particular events (like a death of a loved one or loss of job) and some may not be. That's why many people say that they don't have a "reason" to be depressed. Chronic depression is a disease of the mind and requires treatment just like any other disease. It doesn't just "go away". I found this to be a good resource when I had depression. Hopefully, it helps us all understand depression better.

http://www.wingofmadness.com/index.php/Dia...-Feel-Like.html

I didn't see a psychiatrist or even a counsellor. I did tell my GP about it though and I was very honest about it. When it got really bad and I was having terrible insomnia, she prescribed some mild antidepressants for me. That helped me but I was adamant not to be drug-reliant and so, after informing my doctor and having her approval, I monitored myself and slowly cut down the dosage until I was completely weaned off it.

And I completely agree with those who suggested exercise. It's an excellent way to increase the production of "happy hormones".

Good luck and I hope those of you with depression overcomes it soon.
