Depression is not a sickness but u need to go on medication for a long period althrough u feel like recovered. Make sure u get advise from doctor before stopping the medication or u may need to take longer medication once depression resurface again.

whailun, sometimes just finding someone to talk to & pour out all your worries is effective..
because that's what they do during counselling sessions, rite?
getting over past problems & moving ahead...

perhaps you could do a short term life plan: e.g. what to do in the next few weeks/months...
then you can have something to look forward to..

good luck & cheer up! smile.gif

I guess you attended counselling sessions before and not know the serious of your case, I would suggest that you go for those counselling sessions. If you want to fight your way out from being depressed, then I think there is something you can do to help yourself. A little recognition, be it from yourself or others, can boost your self-esteem and make you feel better about yourself. When you feel good about yourself, you will be confident in things and therefore, would not be so easily slip into depression when you think that there is something wrong in the situation. It will make you want to be over things instead of under.

i don't know what i depression for..
the counsellor asked me about this also..
but i couldn't give her the answer..
i don't have financial problem, family problem, and even my studies as well..
my counsellor actually suggested me to go for a psychiatrist..
but i felt its very troublesome to travel all way long to the General hospital or the UM..
then during the next session of counselling, i told my counsellor i am better and we closed the file..

If u're severly depressed for no apparent reason, u should definitely go and see a doctor, preferably a psychiatrist. There are some medical as well as psychiatric conditions that can masquerade as depression. Don't take chances with ur health.

Sounds like hormonal imbalance. You really should try seeing a psychiatrist.

It would have been better if you took your counselor's advise and seen the psychiatrist. Rather then claiming to be alright and closing the file.

Your current environment is either too stifling, unchanging or frozen.

To shake things up, take a course in Vietnamese and migrate to Vietnam, that's where all the action is right now.

TS, i also suffered from depression few yrs back, and just recently only i managed to overcome that feeling and fight back. thing is I didn't even know I was so depressed until I found out what it was to be truly happy..

what's bothering u? or ur just bored with ur life? nothing new going on? whenever i feel depression coming back again, I tell myself 'I am depressed now.' so that I'm aware of what I'm feeling and I'll try to stop the feeling from continuing too long.. so maybe I'll go out, have some fun, keep myself busy that kind of thing..

ur problem is this:

think more positive! read some self-help books maybe can help u? helped me a lot to renew my faith in starting a new day evryday, especially chicken soup for the soul series.. haha =P try to see problems in a new perspective ba.. 'what doesn't kill u, will only make u stronger.' all the problems u face now, will build up ur character so u are more able to handle bigger things in the future.

or could u elaborate more on ur prob? maybe more ppl can help u this way.. not financial, not family, not studies.. what about relationships wise?

Yeah exercise is good... When you socialise, you tend not to be that depress anymore...

If you want to take medication, you can take St.John's Wort (you can buy them from Pharmacy), which is herbal anti depressant (since yours is just mild depression).

Apart from that, like what other forumers said, just try to think positive.

Probably, you just need to do something new....
