last time using w810 i encountered this prob, but i think its due to network, not phone prob...its like, the network "think" that i didnt rcv the sms, thus they send again...im using maxis, b4 this while using using celcom (samsung sgh-x480) oso sometimes encountered this...but really2 rare..

regarding the camera pictures quality, for me its quite satisfied, but due to FW problems, the pictures (certain ppl encounter certain not) have pink or greenish part especially noticeable at white part...then, in terms of quality also, although this phone its 3.2, but k810/k800 produce better picture quality (base on my personal encounter with friend's k800 n auntie's k810)...n i read review regarding new cybershot phone c702 @ gsmarena, they said it produce even better pictures than k800/k810..

nway, with rm1.2 asking price, this p1i is superb..pack with a lot of features (touchscreen, wifi, walkman class audio, docs viewer, good organizer, qwerty keyboard)...but, u mention u r more on camera centric device, thus perhaps this p1i will not fulfill ur requirements...

n as far as i know, none 3.2mpx cameraphone can match up standalone digital camera (maybe some Japanese's phones can)

if u r suing old FW, then try to update to latest FW, latest FW improve the phone's speed and its camera function (include speed)...so the latest FW is better although is not as fast as cameraphone centric, but as for smartphone, its acceptable...

1. the internet connection so far me, its ok...nway, i seldomly use my wifi..it still can connect to those 802.11g but js run at 802.11b's speed...opera mini 4 can handle this job well...

2. as for overall speed, compare to my previous w810 i think not fair..this is smartphone, n w810 is java phone...so as for p1i, its acceptable, js perhaps while driving u will find quite difficult to sms compare to normal phone (after all sms-ing while driving is dangerous )..nway, aif u bought it, better update to latest FW (incase urs not the latest one) becoz, latest FW improve this phone speed a little bit n improve camera's performance....

fyi, this is my 1st smartphone, so at 1st, its quite difficult 4 me to adapt its slowness compare to my old phone, but now i get used to it already n if u compare to symbian s60, the speed almost comparable...

i also using 2gb m2..so far comapre to 1gb m2, not lag..but i heard/read somewhere, if u use 4gb m2, it intends to lag a little bit when the memory nearly full

but do remember this p1i, does ot have media centre UI like those k850/w960/w910 and its video capability (recording) only 15fps @ QVGA compare to k850's 30fps @ QVGA

3. for UI customization, if u like, u can try install GDESK 0.25 application, this software can customize the main screen (but u hv to dld the theme for this software)..n via this software u can make ur main screen look like iphone..hehe...or there is also skin to make it look alike WM...u can google for it...a lot skin/theme

but as for me, im only using normal skin, dun like gdesk

4. as for camera/pictures...if js wanna take a photo, it can fulfill the needs, as long as u r not to fussy about its quality (when u compare to k800/k810 la)..but becoz this is smartphone and not camera centric device, thus its speed/interface not as fast as k800/k810...but if u can cope with that, then it shud be fine...

nway, perhaps next FW can improve its camera pictures quality n the phone speed..

-last time b4 buying this, im also torn between k850, 6500slide n 5610 XM, but at last i bought p1i instead..the reason, im not used to s40 interface, n actually im quite bored with k850's interface (not very2 much diff than my old w810) n i wanna feel something new (symbian UIQ, qwerty, wifi n etc)...n it also becoz this p1i pack with a lot features compare to those i mention...although perhaps it ot excel in certain areas but as for all-rounder, this phone really can do the job n really satisfied me...

n if wanna make it as ur mp3 player, i recommend u to get thos a2dp se's stereo bluetooth or any good earphone + good audio adapter (im using mylar x3..new one now mylar x3i n x3b) like martin field audio 3.5mm audio port (im not using this, but my friend do with his k750)

hv u dld the settings?
if using maxis..*100# then 8>1>4>1>2>3>>1
then after install it, when u access ur internet accounts, u will see maxis 3g wap, maxis 3g mms n etc..like me, i set wifi as my priority..
nway, sometimes u cant connect due to log in failed (fail to log in to 3g network)...thus u hv to go to control panel > connection > mobile network
then tap more>select network...this to refresh the connection back

Added on March 22, 2008, 12:02 pmthat audio port around rm39.95 from doml...but i dun use it (my friend use it), i js used my old w810 audio port from hpm70..actually hpm70 also quite good already..but this mylar x3 more clarity n for me the sound feel more natural n solid..but i heard the new x3i n x3b sounds better...as for the price, this crossroad mylar (x3i n x3b) price at rm160++...as for mine, i bought it 2nd hand from my friend (after he rcv it from rma-so brand new la) at cheap price (rm90 only )

dunno la that...if like that, bored la..only can buy candy bar normal phone and cannot try something new design n new technologies...stick with old technologies arr like that...i dont think those phone's engineers dumb enough to make unreliable phones...hoho...maybe last time, its like ur friend said...but as time move on..new tech introduced n improvements were done...so from time to time, the phone (flip, slide, touch) will become better n better...n as for me, nowaday, if the phone can last up to 3-4-5 years, is worth already...n bet most of user here especially gadget freak, youngster will change phone at least once in a year.....
