I think PTPTN can't really help you much.
The ball is with EPF and EPF is pretty strict and stringent when comes to its withdrawal.

I saw the dates were supposed to be provided by PTPTN. hmm.gif
Never mind will call later.

Hi I just called PTPTN 03-21933000 yesteday and the officer followed-up with whatapps.

The PTPTN officer will inform your degree tarikh mula pengajian and tamat pengajian.

Once you apply through e-Pengeluaran form, have to wait for KWSP sms and bring degree transcript and cert to nearest PTPTN for thumbprint.

and PTPTN officer informed it will take around 14 days for KWSP to transfer the money.
Better act fast now.

Btw, i applied e-pengeluaran yesterday and still waiting KWSP sms...
*
Thanks for the information! I will need to check the dates and see if I'm not mistaken I cannot do e-Pengeluaran because of the dates. hmm.gif

Still in dilemma whether to clear all 20k balance after factor in 20% discount...
Ady cleared half before and enjoyed 10% disc but recently the ptptn officer call me asking if i want to clear the balance so i was tempted abit... summore if can pay online using public cc got further 5% disc
*
Just clear off. Even after the news is out, I will still proceed for full settlement.
Reason being, we know PH will not give candy anymore, so 20% will not be available anytime soon.

QUOTE(Ethan @ Dec 7 2018, 03:33 PM)
A friend of mine went to apply for full settlement using her money in EPF Account 2.
Submission and all went smooth until... an SMS from KWSP saying withdrawal has been rejected.
Reason given is the transcript & degree scroll provided do not tally with the course mentioned in the loan offer letter.

She was from MMU. She took the foundation study which is a 1-year program prior to the 3-year management degree program. Apparently KWSP treat this "completion of foundation study and continue with degree program" as a "course change"... and rejected the withdrawal.

If you are in similar situation, you will need letters from PTPTN and the institution (in her case, MMU)... saying you have changed course, or explain the situation to KWSP.

Good luck.
*
Holy and I was from MMU. doh.gif
I already paid off my foundation money. Now is Degree loan, another thing is I changed my course from Engineering to Business and MMU didn't report to PTPTN. So, eventually my PTPTN loan was still based on Engineering... Of course my cert was from Business. sweat.gif

The thing is I was told no loan offer letter was required, so how did EPF know about this? hmm.gif

I haven't gone into "E-Pengeluaran" yet. doh.gif I guess I will be in deep shit now.

Edit: Managed to speak to MMU regarding this and they will help me to get one confirmation.. Apparently, there are a few ex-students have called to get this letter... Hopefully I will get one as my graduation has happened some time back. laugh.gif

I really think you shouldn't use your EPF money to settle your loan. Best to just pay monthly because PTPTN is a 1% interest loan and you're giving up returns of an average of 6% for a 1% loan.

If your amount of loan remaining is small though, I would recommend taking the 20% and using a credit card interest free payment to double back and repay it all in the next 12 months.
*
Reason being we are not sure what will come next. Few days ago announced mandatory salary deduction according to salary bracket. Though it's 1% interest but every month my repayment will increase 5x, I don't think it's fun. I have other commitments to factor in as well. Though this has been suspended by MoE but God knows what will happen next year. By that time, no more 20% discount (because this is Najib's budget) and I will end up paying more with higher mandatory salary deduction.

Yes, apparently there are a few students (including my friend) have called MMU and asking for letter regarding this matter. That's why I am telling you about it.
*
Thanks for the alert! Else, I will have to redo everything again and losing out a lot of time. How long did it take for your friend to get her letter from MMU? For my case, I checked with the Students Affairs department and unfortunately my details were already archived, they will need some time to retrieve from Finance department.

Imagine I fill in form and what not then receive rejection SMS. sweat.gif

My friend's application has been approved yesterday. :-)
Got the notification sms when we were having lunch together yesterday.

Actually, it took MMU (Exam & Records Unit, Melaka) 4 biz days to retrieve the record of entrance and continuation to degree program. She called them everyday to follow up... hehe.

The letter from MMU was in an email. When submitting, KWSP requested for "certified true copy"... WHAT?!?!  doh.gif
But they back off and accepted the printed letter after showing them the email from MMU.

It's another 4 days before KWSP replied to confirm the withdrawal.

Now it's all done.
*
I got the letter from MMU Bursary yesterday (less than 2 working days) and immediately sent it over to a PTPTN officer. He helped me to do something in the system before I'm allowed to apply in EPF system. He did it quite instantly and followed with my withdrawal which he has approved as well. Now waiting for EPF SMS to go to nearest EPF for biometric verification.

I'm almost there. laugh.gif

QUOTE(metaloid @ Dec 12 2018, 10:24 AM)
depends on how much you will be paying back and how many more years. I have like 10 more years so i rather go for the monthly payment considering the 1% interest.
*
I still have more than 10 years but I don't want to be in a situation where I have no other option left besides mandatory salary deduction. I still have other commitments to factor in so I cannot afford to have this last minute heart attack again.
The earlier proposal, it is 5x from my monthly repayment though I always pay more but not to the extent of 5x..

At least I know there won't be discount anytime soon with this new government. I am withdrawing partially but still quite a hefty amount from my Account 2, I haven't withdrawn for my house yet. Will do so when I'm moving in.. The drawback is not much left inside now. sad.gif These two years have to save as much as possible from my own savings.

Well, there's no right or wrong in this issue. It's everyone's preference and budget estimation. biggrin.gif

David83, how's your payment via EPF? Is it completed now? When will you get the full settlement letter?

According to the officer I was assigned to, I can only get it around second week of Jan.

Good for you.

My friend's application was rejected (due to the "change course" issue") after the biometric verification.
She is so glad it's all settled now.

PTPTN staff told her the monthly salary deduction would still go on for this month for one last time. And then the excess amount paid would be returned... No idea how soon though.
*
Yeah, glad that all is over. Mine is slightly different from your friend's case because I already settled Foundation payment when I was in university.
However, appreciate your pointer on the course change thingy and I recalled I have to do the same thing too as I switched faculty. Phew. So close.

hi guys.
tmr i will walk in and see how is the procedure to entitle for the 20% discount.
perhaps someone mentioned to pay all and then inform ptptn?

but if it's a concrete way of doing it, shall just pin it to first post.
*
Actually you don't need to walk-in, just call careline (wait until it's picked up) or pick any of the Sales Executives here: https://www.ptptn.gov.my/seksyen-careline-side

Then tell the officer you are interested to do full settlement, he/she will be glad to assist you (I think they have commission). Then, you will be given with their mobile no. for further conversation in WhatsApp and will send you everything via WhatsApp. You just follow the steps that are advised and after your full settlement, this officer will send you the full settlement letter. If you walk-in, the officer who attends to you will also give you mobile no.

*

Submitted e-pengeluaran on Dec 11th 3.47 p.m., received SMS on Dec 14th 9.02 a.m.

They transfer so fast?  sad.gif

I'm a bit worry, cause today only i submit for e-pengeluaran.
*
Once I received SMS, I went to EPF centre on the same day. I asked the officer after she finished processing my case, she told me 21 working days. Based on others' experience, I know it won't take so long. So I asked her if it's taking that long because I want to make use of 20% discount by end of the year, she smiled and said should be no issue by this week. They have to say it's 21 working days because that's the standard reply. laugh.gif
