"...the world's two largest cement makers..."
Will the related governments approve the merger? This is anti-competition...

Anyway, Holcim is not present in Malaysia, right? The impact should be minimal.

I checked out the recently listed IVCAP Islamic Dividend ETF. Uses the MSCI sustainable dividend screening + shariah screening and is currently invested in these stocks.

KLK
Maxis
Digi
Axiata
Glomac
UOA
Gas Malaysia
Ta Ann
Old Town
UMW Holdings
Mah Sing
WCT
TDM
TM
Lafarge
Paramount
Pharmaniaga
SEGI
CSC Steel

Any comments from the sifus on these stocks for good dividend yield?

Holcim has a clinker & cement grinding plant (capacity 1.2 mil tons per year) in Pasir Gudang, Johor. Also they have 10 ready mix batching plant in the several locations in Malaysia.

La Farge also have a cement plant in Pasir Gudang, with this merger, either one will have be closed i think.

QUOTE
Holcim acquired Tenggara Cement in 1999 and renamed it as Holcim Malaysia the following year. With its main base at Pasir Gudang – the premier industrial zone situated in Johor Port – and several ready-mix plants throughout the state, Holcim has since grown and strengthened its local operations.

any comment of the worthiness of investing in STAR (6084)? DY is still >6% assuming payout is 15 cents.

growth might be flat or on slight downtrend in the near term, probably due to repositioning of company's direction towards multi-platform media company, instead of relying on newspaper only.
