Question: If you hold a stock with 6% dividend yield, at what FD rate (%) will you consider cashing out your stock and put into FD?
Eg: 8% FD interest rate.
*
It depends on your dividend growth rate of the stock. To know the price of the stock to cash out, use discounted dividend model calculation at current FD rate.

Transactional cost would be too high isn't it?
*
Brokerage is based on value, if your brokerage is 0.42% and min RM 12, as long you buy at least RM 3,000 per transaction (no matter how many shares), your brokerage % will stay the same. It is only if you transact less than 3K, then your brokerage % will go up. laugh.gif

In recent example if you buy 100 shares of Nestle at 49.50, then your transaction value is already RM 4950.. and brokerage will be competitive.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask.

Dividend / current price = dividend yield

Dividend / price bought = ???

*
Dividend /current price = Dividend Yield
Dividend/price bought = Yield on cost
Dividend Growth Rate = CAGR of dividend rate over 5 years

Hope the above helps. wink.gif

You really like divvy eh? Check out this blog. This guy is getting 6 figures a year from dividend alone... and he is only 40+ years old working man (salesman). laugh.gif Good motivation for those who like dividend investing and also he a very kiamsiap kiasu kiasi... laugh.gif Maybe thats what is required to achieve financial independence... hmm.gif

Divvy Blog...

Wow this is SO INSPIRING! *Like!*  thumbup.gif

S$ 104,826.14 = RM254,767.59 per year

Aka RM21,230.58 per month!

Webpage bookmarked!

P/s: Assuming a 7% yield, the author capital is about S$1.5mil (RM3.5M)

===

For M-REITS, this guy is doing equally good as well. (with RM150,000 capital only)  nod.gif

*
From his previous blogs... his capital is about SGD 500K-700K only, he roll over capital gains to high dividend yield counters. And not to mention he is fearless, he bought most of holdings during the 2008 financial crisis. laugh.gif His current yield on cost is about 14%. I also want to follow him leh. laugh.gif

Just to add...

For the past 2 quarters Magnum has been paying divvy of 5 sen a quarter, looks set to be paying 20 sen p.a.

20 sen / RM3.10 = 6.45%

Close to zero gearing some more...if I'm not mistaken, Toto is geared.

Add: What about my current counters? If u, which u would top up? I'm looking APM, Maybank and possibly Tien Wah unsure.gif
*
Got another potential divvy counter.. but ~5%, however is construction business.. you give us valuation? thumbup.gif

The dividend has been steadily up every year from 2007 until 2013.. revenue up every year... margin also up.. good ROE. Even during crisis 2008 also still growing revenue/profit

You got analysis share yah since you in this line icon_rolleyes.gif They got reputation as the best foundation works company in Malaysia, betul kah?

WTF u gave me a counter with recent bonus issue/share split

I kena korek balik fiannce teks book ACCA doh.gif
*
1:1 bonus saja lah... everythiong x2 ok already... last year 25 cents divvy, this year if trend continues 30 sen divvy/2 = 15 sen (After share split tongue.gif), yield >5%

I just wonder thier reputation good or not AND is it sustainable. It is said all the most difficult foundation works all give to this company as they have expertise. Hence you see the margin is >30%... drool.gif

btw, why i search through bursa website cant find the dividend distribution policy ones esp for this prestariang company?  hmm.gif or in the wrong place, i know that prestariang are obligated to declare 50 percent of its earnings as dividend but that ones come from investment forum, need an official source from prestariang itself.
*
Read the annual report.....IF there is any fixed policy, it will be in there.

Otherwise it remains as a promise........Boards can be easily changed too due to aging problem......got Fixed Board  of Directors hmm.gif
*
well a fixed percentage does not mean its always going up.. if EPS down, the divvy will down, if EPS negative, divvy is zero....

Well If EPS goes down , in fact some companies may choose to give a better Dividend payout....so people do not simply sell off the stock . price remains stable.......Hope for the better maybe
*
Always FCF first then EPS, otherwise if both of these sliding down... the high dividend will dissapear sooner or later (once cash runs out) PLUS you then get hit with capital loss.

When looking at dividend companies, the dividend % is one of the last thing you verify.

FCF, EPS growth, PE, payout ratio %, then only dividend yield... whistling.gif

Got difference...RM0.20 if go up by 50% it is quite likely and will make handsome profit but for RM20 to go up by 50% is very unlilkely....

OMG.. you need to go read back all the basics about stock market and find the relationship of share price vs. EPS..

Otherwise you might get your hand burned.. wink.gif

sifu the lower the PE, the better, correct?  hmm.gif since pay lower money for each dollar invested.

Yes... but depend a company with low or negative growth can have low PE, but that does not mean the company is good.
