Dell Ultrasharp 2408WFP rev a01 is released. after reading the forum. some of the member mention about backlight issue.
input is slightly fixed but gaming still a problem with that.
im thinking of buying 2409W or US 2408WFP at the end of 2008.

which 1 is better?

Buget <RM2000 any other monitor with high def? doing good with PS3 + PC usage smile.gif thx

I just bought the Dell 2409W n so far to me it's great..
Color n image is top notch to me.. I have tested playing games like GRID n Assassin Creed at reso of 1920*1080 2x AA n it works flawlessly..
Haven't tested with any FPS games though.. but i did read someone in the forum playing crysis on it and says it great too..
I didn't notice any lagging issues or any color leaking too.. Sooo i would give a double thumbs up to this lcd.. smile.gif
Worth every penny to me, the only gripe i have is that i have gone too accustomed to my old 19" ultrasharp with it swivel n turn stand makes me wish that this LCd has the same kind of stand too..

It'll come don't worry.

V2400W wasn't listed on the BenQ Malaysia website until 1 week before its release anyway.

Besides, we don't even have an actual release date yet. End of the month can mean any of the days on the last week of the month.

oh dear, i wanna get it asap cos my crt will probably die in a few days time.... the colors are all weird =P
anyway thanx for the info!

the Dell S2409W 24" is also 16:9 / native 1080p what? got HDMI, selling at rm1099. how much is the BenQ?
*
Are you sure the S2409W has HDMI? It has DVI-D and VGA only, of course you can just buy a HDMI-DVI cable just fine.

But thats the qualm I'm having about this monitor, I connect my PS3 directly via HDMI and PC via DVI. I don't want to switch every single time.

As I replied to hikaru_X, The S2409W is about as good of a 24" you can get on a native res of 1920x1080. So, if you can overlook the fact that it doesn't have an extra HDMI port and don't want to look into BenQ's E2400 and M2400, then go for it. But considering you are picking it up at the end of the year, wouldn't hurt to keep an eye out for the BenQ monitors I explained.

BenQ's G2400W is going for RM990 at the moment, but doesn't have 1:1 pixel mapping and isn't natively 1080p, so stretching and cropping will occur definitely.

Im not talking bout 2409W im talking bout 2408WFP.
Cons of 2409W is lack of USB hub, HDMI

2408WFP have 2 HDCP port,1 HDMi port.
u could change the channel using it smile.gif

laugh.gif Thats what I was saying to hikaru_X. He said S2409W has HDMI and I'm sure it doesn't.

But either way, I still don't suggest on the 2408WFP A01. It fixes the input lag quite a bit but yes, like you said there is backlight issues on it. I've also heard from some people that it has a rather bad scaler chip in it as well. So the older PS3 games which are stucked on 720p indefinitely(Uncharted and R&C: ToD comes to mind) may be a rather troublesome thing.

Looked at the pictures and found that there is HDMI beside the VGA port!

Strange that Dell didn't list a HDMI connection on their spec page:
CONNECTIVITY
Digital Visual Interface - Digital (DVI-D) with High Definition Content Protection (HDCP) Video Graphics Array (VGA)

Sorry my mistake notworthy.gif

Heres a short review I found about it:

it's possible that's just a sample pic of foreign model or the HDMI port isn't wired. just don't bet on it, if it does have then consider yourself lucky, if not, just don't brag

^still the screen is 16:10, i plan to buy s2409w since it use 16:9 aspect ratio plus it include hdmi port. so no need to worry about screen problem like pic stretching cus from what i learned, 1:1 pixel mapping will not work in 2408WFP (can someone confirm), not to mention about input lag prob, etc.. sweat.gif

Of course it better on SDTV. I can guide you how to get the best image on your LCD TV, not only for PS2, but Wii also, or just about anything else. If you are prepared to spend RM2XX that is, which is worth it in my opinion. PM me (and those money is not for me, I'm giving you a guide for free, nothing goes to my pocket).

Hey Hwoarang, I wanna ask something about the S2409W.

It seems that I've been hearing that buying the S2409W from the Dell Malaysia website, the monitor doesn't come with a HDMI input? That is only reserved for foreign models instead?

I assume you bought it from Dell Malaysia though, just want to make sure.

Both BenQ V2400W and FP241VW aspect ratio is 16:10. Although both have 1:1 pixel mapping. So it does solves the stretching and cropping problems albeit with black borders.

16:9 monitors don't really need 1:1 pixel mapping though. Atleast so far not yet since even currently the budget priced Dell S2409W has a great 720p scaling capabilities with it.

Check out Hwoarang5's review: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum...pic.php?t=14311
