And your budget is...?

I'd suggest the BenQ FP94VW though if your budget isn't entirely too high. Has HDMI, DVI and VGA ports. The best 19" widescreen monitor out there too IMO.

Can anyone recommend me an HDTV/LCD/Plasma for my 360? Minimum 31", under 50". Plus, are there any problems with consoles on certain HDTVs? Like incompatibility or something ... please name the brands that have these 'problems' if they do ...

Bring your 360 to Harvey Norman at Pavillion. They have the Pioneer Kuro setup there, play on it and your jaws will drop brows.gif

Off topic or not, the guy is about to waste RM300 for nothing.

@kokanchai:

Please avoid paying RM300 for component cables. Gold-plated connection heads are for avoiding corrosion. It wouldn't add any difference in image quality wise.

Just go along to Jalan Pasar electronics shops and get a component cable there for RM20 only. Do not pay more than RM30 for a component cable, simply not worth it.

i bought a 24 inch samsung lcd monitor.When i played GTA 4 the graphic have a lot of jaggies .Is it because the image is stretched until 1920x1200?
*
Pretty much yes. And again, GTA4 is only running at 640p. Way, way lower than your native res of 19x12.

Does that Samsung of yours have 1:1 pixel mapping? Enabling it will help a little.

QUOTE(Borneo928 @ May 27 2008, 10:14 AM)
can anyone know how to tell if the monitor got 1:1 pixel mapping? for example:

key specifications

    * Screen Size : 19" wide
    * Resolution : 1440 x 900
    * Brightness : 300 cd/m˛
    * Contrast Ratio : DC 8000:1 (1000:1) (Typ.)  <---- is it that?

the (1000:1) ??? means 1:1 pixel mapping?
*
Thats contrast ratio, nothing to do with 1:1 pixel mapping.

Its quite rare that LCD makers states 1:1 pixel mapping in their spec sheets for their LCDs though. Either download the manual of an LCD you are looking for or search for reviews about it. Or before you buy an LCD, check to see if therse 1:1 pixel mapping or not.

Its simply the case of the game(GT5P) being in an upscaled-native 1080p. While its original native resolution is 720p, the game is locked somehow in 1080p via upscaling from the PS3. Its weird.

Shouldn't affect the monitor in the long term, it simply is just displaying a non-native resolution thats all.

Hmmm....I just dont understand, why you guys all bought LCD which are 22" or lower....

I have been playing it with last year 32" and now 37"....heheheh
I might go for 42" next year (depend on the price). I m using local brand, the quality is good. price wise.....if there is anyone using local brand, whats ur feedback?
*
Its hell alot cheaper for one and at the same time, it does alot more than a TV can do.

I'm using a BenQ FP94VW, PS3 hooked up right beside my PC, speakers all together with it. My PS3 audio goes into my PC instead of directly to my speakers, so basically I get sound from my PC. On the same time, I can just turn on my songs and play my PS3 as well. Pretty much in-game music doesn't mean anything to me then.

Theres really more, like I can just MSN and play my PS3 at the same time as well. Its doable on a TV, but the experience just isn't the same.

One more thing is space, 32" is too big for my table.

Am on a 19" BenQ FP94VW. No problems with overscanning/underscanning, since the monitor has forced 16:9 aspect ratio.

Wow great price! Have to go hunt for it already.

QUOTE(SWATwolf @ Jul 10 2008, 02:43 PM)
can anyone confirm with me this model works great with ps3 with 1:1 mapping?

model name: Dell SE198WFP 19" Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor

http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/products/c...dhs1&l=en&s=dhs

if so, might purchase one tonight.
*
SE198WFP does not have 1:1 pixel mapping, nor does it even have forced full 16:9 aspect ratio. Not a very good monitor for PS3.

If you really are on the budget, try hunting out the BenQ FP94VW. Its kinda rare now a days, but I think there are still some shops selling it in LYP.

how much would tat monitor roughly cost?

Added on July 10, 2008, 10:29 pmwow, i see the retail price is rm799.
that's out of my budget.

my budget is around rm550-650. hope u guys can help me outta this.

19" inch, 1:1 mapping, 16:9 compatible, dvi(hdcp) compatible.

thanks
*
Go to Viewnet LYP, 3rd floor. I got mine there for RM660 last December.

I have not seen a single 19" LCD monitor which has 1:1 pixel mapping yet. This feature is usually only available on higher-end LCDs, usually in the 24"-30" LCD monitors range. Even so, not all 24" monitors has 1:1 pixel mapping either.

Forced full 16:9 aspect ratio on a 19" monitor? Only BenQ FP94VW have AFAIK.

Yes on some games the FP94VW, the monitor will crop up due to the game's actual resolution(not the upscaled res the PS3 does by itself).

I notice it in DBZ: Burst Limit for example, the health bar is very damn near the edge of the screen, about 2cm from getting cropped off. Same goes to MGS4 as well.

MGS4 has a manual screen adjustment feature, so it isn't a problem though.

RM2100? Superb deal indeed. Too bad not enough money now to buy.....

The current version of the 2408WFP however, still suffers from input lag though. The A018 revision, which is slated for August should cut down on it.

hello i was wondering which model will be better for both ps3 and pc gaming + movie
Dell UltraSharp™ 2408WFP 24" Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor or Dell S2409W 24" Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor? or unless anyone of u out there can suggest other brands and models as well ?

And what about the BenQ V2400W as well? Which store in LY selling it?

Basically i am looking for a 24" thats for sure already and as for budget if best lower than rm1800.
*
Don't buy either.

BenQ's upcoming E2400HD and M2400HD will be what every PS3-PC user will want. Its a true 16:9 aspect ratio monitor and its native res is 1920x1080, which is yes a native 1080p res. So no image distorting, strethcing or cropping!! rclxm9.gif

Its set to release at the end of this month, so expect it to be here by mid-October or so. Theres no news on the pricing yet, but I can bet that it should be pretty similar to the V2400W, which is going for around RM1.5k now.

And no I'm not bullshitting:

E2400HD(no webcam) - http://www.benq.com/products/LCD/?product=1376
M2400HD(integrated webcam) - http://www.benq.com/products/LCD/?product=1378

There is also a 22'' version of these monitors, but also still retain all of the features and the exact same 1920x1080p res! If this monitor hits at RM900+, its freaking steal!! nod.gif

So anyone still looking for a monitor, wait out first!

It'll come don't worry.

V2400W wasn't listed on the BenQ Malaysia website until 1 week before its release anyway.

Besides, we don't even have an actual release date yet. End of the month can mean any of the days on the last week of the month.

the Dell S2409W 24" is also 16:9 / native 1080p what? got HDMI, selling at rm1099. how much is the BenQ?
*
Are you sure the S2409W has HDMI? It has DVI-D and VGA only, of course you can just buy a HDMI-DVI cable just fine.

But thats the qualm I'm having about this monitor, I connect my PS3 directly via HDMI and PC via DVI. I don't want to switch every single time.

QUOTE(munak991 @ Sep 5 2008, 03:01 PM)
Dell Ultrasharp 2408WFP rev a01 is released. after reading the forum. some of the member mention about backlight issue.
input is slightly fixed but gaming still a problem with that.
im thinking of buying 2409W or US 2408WFP at the end of 2008.

which 1 is better?

Buget <RM2000 any other monitor with high def? doing good with PS3 + PC usage smile.gif thx
*
As I replied to hikaru_X, The S2409W is about as good of a 24" you can get on a native res of 1920x1080. So, if you can overlook the fact that it doesn't have an extra HDMI port and don't want to look into BenQ's E2400 and M2400, then go for it. But considering you are picking it up at the end of the year, wouldn't hurt to keep an eye out for the BenQ monitors I explained.

BenQ's G2400W is going for RM990 at the moment, but doesn't have 1:1 pixel mapping and isn't natively 1080p, so stretching and cropping will occur definitely.

laugh.gif Thats what I was saying to hikaru_X. He said S2409W has HDMI and I'm sure it doesn't.

But either way, I still don't suggest on the 2408WFP A01. It fixes the input lag quite a bit but yes, like you said there is backlight issues on it. I've also heard from some people that it has a rather bad scaler chip in it as well. So the older PS3 games which are stucked on 720p indefinitely(Uncharted and R&C: ToD comes to mind) may be a rather troublesome thing.

Looked at the pictures and found that there is HDMI beside the VGA port!

Strange that Dell didn't list a HDMI connection on their spec page:
CONNECTIVITY
Digital Visual Interface - Digital (DVI-D) with High Definition Content Protection (HDCP) Video Graphics Array (VGA)

Sorry my mistake notworthy.gif

Heres a short review I found about it:
