Don't need VGA box.
You can use a VGA - RGB(component) converter. PS2 does support component inputs. There are many 24" LCD monitors that has VGA, DVI, and HDMI. Go do some research. |

Your A/V cable obviously. No Y-splitter for optical cables man.

Check your speakers to see if theres optical input or not then.
All PS3 game support 5.1, where did you hear that some don't? What PS3 games don't support is 7.1 LPCM. |

As bro neonardi states in his post, theres a list of games that supports 7.1 LPCM. My bad.
Most if not all(I can't remember any which doesn't) PS3 games has 5.1 support. Which automatically they also have 2.1. Depends on the amount of space you have and your budget. Also the location of putting your speakers are vital, just having "space" in your room doesn't cut it. |

QUOTE(syiafuku @ Jun 13 2009, 05:54 PM) newbie here.i own a sony bravia HD-Ready lcd 32".forgot which model.but lower-end.s-series i think. i have a ps3 and thinking of buying dell S2409W lcd monitor.is this a good buy?in terms of picture quality compared to my bravia, does it delivers significant improvement or lebih kurang saja? Depends how far you plan to sit 3 or more feet away, you'd better off stay with your TV. If closer, the monitor is better as it's pixel-pitch is way, way smaller than what TVs offer. Thus you won't see extremely blocky images on screen when you sit very close. As for picture quality, because it is a monitor you won't be able to compare it with your TV's contrast ratio (I'm talking about typical, not those mumbo-jumbo DCR bullshit). So you're gonna lose out a little bit when watching movies, more over the S2409W only uses a TN panel. Sure you'd get the edge with the 1080p resoultion the monitor has, but really... nothing much to shout about, atleast IMO. Games.... its alot of a toss up. In some games, your TV is definitely going to look better. Especially games with no AA support (Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, inFamous, etc.). The jaggy lines are going to way more apparent on your monitor. While games which do have upscaled 1080p (MGS4, NGS, GT5P, etc.) will have its 1080p glory on the monitor. Added to the super tight pixel pitch, everything looks sharp and clean like butter. All of this all depends on how far you are going to plan to sit from your TV/monitor though. I'd generally suggest you stick with your TV. |

Not nessasarily so.
RGB Full Range isn't better on plasmas. On LCD TVs, it'll depend on the model. I'm not sure about how efficient the brightness is on the LG80, just turn it on and see if things are too dark or just look right for you. |

What train scenario? Game or movie?
Best try both. As games and movies produces different sort of color palettes. |

Then stay limited.
Did you try disabling DCR on your TV btw? As that messes up everything when you enable RGB Full. RGB Full is intended for monitors mainly actually, where its color gamut is higher than TVs and constrast ratio being lower. RGB Full fixes the image on screen being too "bright" and displays a myriad of colors more than the monitor should. |

Hoho... nice nice, another H233H owner.
Yea glossy screens does make colores more vibrant, great for movies and games especially. I think many would be happy to see if you take a pic of the monitor playing games at its non-native res (RE5 -720p / LBP -720p). Still many skeptical about the scaler on this monitor. |

3k might as well go for a 37-incher.
The extra 5-inches does wonders, believe it or not. |

i buy 32 inch lg80ur..its HD Ready...it has 1080p input...i connect my ps3 using hdmi cable...my ps3 detected the cable and give a automatic setting to 1080p...i check from google and get some info about HD Ready tv that support 1080p but not really near 1080p...just 1070p or 1060p...that's why some lcd tv HD Ready got that 1080p (FULL HD) but not really Full HD
Well... not quite. It's just that the TV can accept 1080p signals then downscale onto the TV's own native res. Which is definitely not 1060p or 1070p or any of the sort.

Is another cap ayam cheaper than GC? Need one that is at least 720p, 32" - no frills needed.. heck don't care if it only has one HDMI port as long it is good enough for PS3 gaming and Astro watching. Anything that is less than RM1000? This is not for me of course... just a gift for someone else, yeah I'm cheap.
Less than RM1k? I doubt you'd find anything for 32" at that size. Unless it's second hand of course. |

QUOTE(akad11 @ Jul 4 2009, 07:58 PM) 1.AOC 24inch 2434PW LCD Monitor 1. Avoid this monitor. Decent quality at its native res, but the horrible scaler makes a game which is locked at 720p way too blur.2.Acer 23inch H233H LCD Monitor *HDMI,CrystalBrite* 3.ViewSonic 22inch VX2233WM LCD Monitor *Full HD,Built-in Speaker* Which one is better to play ps3? 2. Best LCD monitor out of the 3, I suggest you get this. Average all-around monitor, great thing is the brilliant price. 3. While it performs better interms of color range, the price is a real put-off. More over it's 2 inches (21.5" vs 23.5") smaller. QUOTE(sammesul81 @ Jul 4 2009, 09:36 PM) thanks again but i dont know what is HDCP compliment and how to check it? is ACER H233H has HDCP compliment?? Every LCD monitor or TV made since the end of 2007 requires it to be HDCP compliant (not compliment, that doesn't make sense). So yes, the Acer H233H is HDCP compliant. |

QUOTE(kimono38 @ Jul 9 2009, 06:01 PM) How about ASUS VH242 and Samsung 2494 HS? Both of them are more expensive. I wonder is the display quality match the price tag. You can't match them with decent-quality TN panels like the RM600-RM700+ Full HD monitors. They use more highclass panels like S-MVA/S-PVA. More for photoshoppers, you don't get much of an advantage for gaming because at that price you might as well pony up for a TV instead. |
