Most of the drivers are supplied by Windows7 drivers database. The only non-working driver for me is REALTek Ethernet controller, which I'm forced to use *unsigned* Vista driver (which in Vista is signed).

Microsoft claims ALL Vista drivers work in Windows 7. In fact, that was one of their priorities for Windows 7 - don't cause more compatibility issues. True enough. Installing certain programs, I ran into issues as well like "You need Windows XP or higher to install". Just run compatibility mode for Windows Vista, and it works as usual in Windows 7.

Been using Windows 7 for 2 days, and believe me, it feels so much like Vista, but way, way better. Heck, I am getting used to 7 alreadi.... tongue.gif

WOW. Just WOW. Windows 7 is THE WOW. Can u believe that ? I am yet to leave Windows 7 since I started to use it...

Edit: However, issues did arise (Build 7000)...

1. Clicking on the games folder in the Start Menu causes everything to pause... and it takes awhile before it gets back to normal. Tried this on my desktop and laptop - same thing.

2. The Games Explorer is even more streamlined... well, I can't change the shortcut that is by default placed there. Have to copy/paste shorcut myself.

3. There are odd pauses when using Live Messenger.

Overall, Windows 7 Build 7000 is impressive. Very impressive.

using the beta too~

more ram = more efficient eh...

but ram these days are cheaper!
IE 8 is nicer, but in my opinion, those suggestion site is not much into use >.<
i like the taskbar, whihc the programs tabs can be moving freely, like we did in IE tab ..

some software cant proper detect the latest wmp12 though, which need to be modified manually.. or complely refuse to run~ i understand, it is a beta anyways...

looking forward to final realease, it can be one of the best windows.. (i tot i said the same thing 2 years ago while betas testing vista.. haha!)

What amazes me about this is that... the two different hardware give no significant improvement to Windows 7 -> it performs comparably the same on both machines ! That is incredible whereas XP and Vista sees performance increment due to more powerful hardware.

I am quite confident with Windows 7. Its just the compatibility niggles that could still put some off...

maybe its based on server 2008's kernal? while server2008 kernal is based on Vista sp1. however, it shud hv improment in memory management. expecting to see more in final release ~ (windows7 shud use vista/server08 sp2 kernal right?)

Windows7 Build 7000 isn't officially released to the public yet. Wait on 13th January for the bits.

You're wrong. X64 is there even in Whistler beta age, in Longhorn too and definitely in Windows7. Build 6801, which the official build released to PDC 2008 attendees, have X64 version, so why shouldn't the official beta? And how's Microsoft gonna squash out the bugs in X64 if there's no beta version to test with?
