elhh82,

If it is that easy i would not have ask the question. I think you don't understand the situation. Is US that you are talking about and not some local investment bank.

thierry5259,

Why don't you talk or e-mail to your brokerage?? As far as I know, you can direct wire transfer to the A/C?? I always do direct deposit between my US Bank A/C and Brokerage account. And, the US brokerage A/C has the same Routing number and A/C number system that is accessible like the bank A/C.

I use TD Ameritrade. It is NOT the cheapest. But, I do not trade that much so it does not matter to me.

If you can tell us which brokerage you're using, it may help us to understand why.

I am guessing your US brokerage doesn't take wire transfer, hence that why they require you to have a US bank (as intermediary) for transfer (via ACH). If this is the case, you may go about the snail mail way (by mailing a bank draft to them) if you don't have US bank account.

Btw, I use E-Trade and they take direct wire transfer.

I've dealt with many international transfers, and it's usually hassle free. It just doesn't seem quite logical for me that your broker is making you jumping through so many hoops for you to send money their way. So my logical conclusion was either that you missed something or that your broker sucks. smile.gif

Find another broker as suggested above, or email the customer service contact and ask what they can do for you.

yes, when you want to transfer overseas, fill in the Foreign Telegraphics Transfer form in m2u and you'll be done in less than 5 minutes.

I guess they're buying on this rumor..
IMO, Citigroup is very risky now even with the CEO statement - I don't believe him.
If their business is profitable, they should return all the TARP/TALF money.

Just wait for another 6 weeks, when the next quarter earnings come out..
if the losses hasn't increase, it will be a good sign... CitiBank will have further upside.

Good news.. is upstick rule is coming back afterall. biggrin.gif

Hey guys,

Okay so you are saying that you have successfully send your money to the US broker using FTT (Foreign Telegraphic Transfer).

Let's take optionXpress as an example .

U.S. Dollar ($) Wire Instructions:
JPMorgan Chase Bank, NA
Swift Code: CHASUS33* (International wires only)
ABA # 021000021* (Domestic wires only)
A/C 707660205 optionsXpress, Inc.*
F/C/T [your name here]*
A/C# [your 8 digit account number]*

Bank Address: (wires only - do not mail funds)
1 Chase Manhattan Plaza
New York, NY 10081

There is 2 accounts number provided but in FTT you need to fill in only 1 account number. Which account number did you fill in? Kindly look at CIMB FTT online application form (uploaded). There is no Swift code for me to key in. By the way, under the name of beneficiary's bank , you put the name of OptionXpress or JPMorgan Chase Bank in this case. I need to be clear of how you guy fill in the FTT application online like Maybank2U.

Yes, you're right. CITI is good for long term investment. The more you buy, the richer you will in the future.

Hi dreamer 101,

How did you manage to open an account in US bank? I want to know more about your oversea account? You did open your account in Malaysia right?

Hi Junior 83,

Step #3 is without the beneficiary details and #4 seems to have the beneficiary details.
Here goes , sender details is my detail right & in the beneficiary details i put OptionXpress right but i don't have their ID/password. Last is the beneficiary bank details which is JPMorgan in my case.
What is the transaction description at the bottom?

As far as i understand in the example, Sender from Malaysia sent USD 250 to Bank of West (A/C #762055614) then the bank will transfer the money to Interbank FX. After that ...done? No swift code needed?

so why if Citigroup gets nationalized (which they already have?) , that the share will become next to nothing? I am thinking of getting them ,it's already back up to 1.78USD per share now

T_flash,

1) Citigroup is NOT nationalized yet. US government owned about 37% of Citigroup.

2) If Citigroup is nationalized, US government will own 100% of Citigroup. Existing shareholder will own NOTHING or 0.01% of Citigroup. The existing share will be diluted 10 to 100 times.
