To all 8800gt owners . . . i guess were kinda stunned by the new ati 4850 performance as we speak . . . its roughly 30-40% better compared to 88, even 50% in certain reso n games . . . if ur planning to sell ur 88 for an ati, by all means pls do . . . if u have a sli board, why dont try sli n compare . . . i did a small comparison according to this link
http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3341&p=1 (how accurate it is im not sure, just a rough idea). Im just comparing to the 4870, 4850 in Crossfire, and 8800GT in Sli. 4850 single card beats the crap out of single 8800gt so i dont find a point comparing them.
Games that were tested : CRYSIS (No AA), CALL OF DUTY 4 (4xAA), ENEMY TERRITORY: QUAKE WARS (4xAA), ASSASIN'S CREED (No AA), OBLIVION (4xAA & 16xAF), THE WITCHER (2xAA, no AA at 2560) & BIOSHOCK (No AA). Ill be mixing the games that has AA and no AA.
Ill just calculate by total fps of all the games . . . easier for me.
1280x1024 (CRYSIS only)
8800GT Sli : 57.3 FPS
4850 CF : 43.5 FPS
4870 : 45.5 FPS
1680x1050
8800GT Sli : 592.0 FPS
4850 CF : 600.1 FPS
4870 : 528.9 FPS
1900x1200
8800GT Sli : 508.6 FPS
4850 CF : 554.5 FPS
4870 : 461.1 FPS
2560x1600 (excludes CRYSIS)
8800GT Sli : 311.6 FPS
4850 CF : 386.5 FPS
4870 : 286.6 FPS
Here's ROUGHLY the results, it might not be accurate, just a reference that should be taken lightly. If ur gonna sell ur 8800gt for a 4850 just do it, if ur selling for a 4870 forget it and just get another 8800gt n sli if ur able to, unless u plan on going CF. Well it all depends on ur current hardware, if its able to CROSSFIRE, then go ahead n CF. If i did anything wrong or given any wrong idea, pls do flame me.
