QUOTE(S4PH @ May 20 2008, 11:38 PM) just wanna know can i SLI an Asus 88GT512mb with an Asus 88GT1GB or i need same memory configuration? Can i also SLI Asus with different brand? Yes you can but the 1gb will only operate at the lower memory which is 512mb, any sub-vendor doesnt matter as long its the same chip. Sli will only run at the lowest core/mem/shader of bboth cards.

QUOTE(Vannus @ May 21 2008, 05:30 PM) that means if I sli 2x8800gt 256mb, my total effective memory is 512mb or 256mb only? It would be 512mb total effective mem . . . like S4PH config it would be 1gb mem, not 1.5gb. Thats wat i understood do far, apologies if i im wrong.

QUOTE(hafiez @ May 21 2008, 08:25 PM) guys, i need a urgent help here.. i just opened my 8800GT stock heatsink and i want to apply MX-2 on it. after i opened it, i seen a white 'paper' thingy..it covers all the memories. maybe they called this thing thermal pad? correct me if im wrong. can i remove this thing and replace it with mx-2? thanks. ya its thermal pad . . . better not remove it cuz the heatsink and the mem got quite a big gap . . . if u put the mx 2 it might not touch the chips.

QUOTE(eric8188 @ May 22 2008, 02:51 PM) cause not willing to spend much on this... the 9600gt stock HSF is same with latest batch of 8800gt, just 1cm bigger in fan dimension compared to mine. Means that it will be more air flow at same speed thus more quiet. Anyway, how much is the thermalright HSF for 8800gt? HSF is ok for me, just dun be like the stock 1 which is exactly like a hair blower when it is running >60% speed. thermlaright hr-03 heatsink costs a bomb, rm 150+ . . . try accelero s1 rev 2 , rm 120.

QUOTE(eric8188 @ May 22 2008, 03:20 PM) How is ur card temp now? idle and on load temp after using this accelero s1 rev 2, and how about the noise, acceptable? before: idle-50+ C load-90 C max , with fan:idle-33 C load-45 C , w/o fan: idle-43 C load-65 C, its passive heatsink originaly so the its silent unless u add ur own fan. Really that loud arh . . . just thought of getting 1 to sli .If loads of cash, thermalright hr-03 gt, mid range ac accelero s1 rev 2. Btw off topic, how much u bought? Added on May 23, 2008, 12:32 amQUOTE(Vannus @ May 22 2008, 11:49 PM) I just bought xfx 8800GS 384mb. The Fan Also Full Speed. Damm Loud. But I took off the heatsink cover and fan. Put a normal 8cm led fan on it. Ownself mod using 'tali' to hold the fan there. Haha. Now running nicely and temps looks good. hehe nowadays sub vendors like LOUD fan izit . Put some pic la, cant really get wat u meant by own mod. This post has been edited by hermit23: May 23 2008, 12:32 AM

QUOTE(toothgnasher @ May 23 2008, 04:59 PM) hi.I'm planning to get 8800GT since i notice 9600GT performance aren't that good. Between Asus EN8800GT TOP and eVGA GEFORCE 8800GT SC 512MB I never use eVGA, so don't know the performance. Would appreciate some pros n cons frm user here or share any review tests done on websites, on these two cards. Currently i'm using Asus 7950GT card. So far so good and no prob asus top has a slightly higher clocked core/mem/shader of 700/2000/1750, and its has its glaciator fan cooling which cools the card better than its stock reference heatsink though but its fan speed cannot be controlled if im not mistaken. No idea bout evga though, only love their akimbo cooled gc. Added on May 24, 2008, 10:37 amQUOTE(skidd @ May 24 2008, 10:12 AM) er after 2 days i cannot sleep with my pc turned on ... this card is really loud gonna try my luck to exchange it to other card .. asus or gigabyte also loud? or should i just buy Accelero S1? u guys know where to get this in low yat? (in forum all no stock right now ) seriously galaxy 8800gt is great but ... the damn sound is damn loud!! all 88 mostly loud cuz the fan need to be fast to cool the damn hot card . . . so, 3rd party options the best. Garage sales no more? Moderno, shawty . . . etc, all dun have? This post has been edited by hermit23: May 24 2008, 10:38 AM

Well actually ya, its is kinda wasting but if 512mb, u have at least the option to have a bigger screen (who knows you'll change ur mind) in time to come.

QUOTE(Zavia/GenX @ Jun 1 2008, 06:13 PM) Thinking of buying a 8800Gt 512, whats the diffrence between the diffrent brands ah? From the last 4 pages, i read that all is noisy beside Zelman, and Asus punya slightly more power? Cos im a bit o_O about so many types and prices. Not going to OC, not in the short term (hoping 2 find time 2 learn at the end of da year) Not much diff from sub-vendor's, just the package offered . . . depends, certain cards can oc better, certain cant . . . since ur not goin to oc, s it depends on ur preference of looks . . . for factory ocerclocked cards u could try zotac 88 amp or asus 88 top. Both have acceptable cooling, but noise im not sure.
