ohh could be the road uneven also... got alot of factors la..
tapi persona is a pretty heavy car la so 120-130 should not have floating problem la, so i was surprised when i read yr post..
handling pun supposedly by the one and only lotus mamak restaurant hahaha tongue.gif
*
persona suspension is soft as it was intended for family use...

try speeding at straight n smooth road n mebbe u dun feel the floating...

the uneven road or bouncy hi way can make the car feels floating...

bouncy highway like that i rather the car be floating than be bouncing with hard suspension haha..

cdr and normal cd like audio and video cd are the same format. unlike cdrw REWRITABLE which use different format. but both format can be played in my persona. if u play dvd then another story la tongue.gif

hey guys... any news on whether the persona would be coming out with CPS+VIM or whether we can retrofit the IAFM manifold onto the existing campros?

Jst figured that we should at least be able to retrofit the IAFM to improve the engine performance and FC abit..

Yeah agree with u..our Persona should be installed with the module..but with discounted price for the upgrade if not i think it'll be quite expensive... blush.gif

I can play CDRW mp3s. Only not as syiok as audio CDs.

As for the floating complain, yes, suspension being soft can be an issue too. I was only surprised at the experience since I know persona is reasonably heavy. Still, I'll raise it when I go for 1000 service. You guys all OK, high speed, long distance, plus highway, huh?

If u want syiok like audio CD just set the bitrate higher like 192kbps when ripping of from CD or make sure the mp3 files downloaded/copied bitrate is around that...the higher the better... smile.gif

The "floating" feel has something to do with the suspension damping, higher profile tyre and taller ride height.

Persona ride & handling is well balanced between comfort and sporty driving. smile.gif smile.gif
BUT don't be fooled by the "Floating" feel...because this car can handle slow-mid speed sharp turn very well. If you are going to fast, slight understeer occur, listen to the tyre streching noise... icon_rolleyes.gif whistling.gif

Handbraking 180 turn is easy, go at 60km/h, lock the e-brake, see the car slide.....but because of the heavier body, need little bit more speed to "skid"....now my front tyre sidewall got some cut after stunt driving. rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif

Of course go to PESC and ask for warantty claim, faulty rear brake pump(oil leaking)..hehe.. tongue.gif
Doing it oftenly, high speed handbraking turn, the brake pump won't last..it is very fragile item.

Next is tyre rotation, front wheel move to rear. tongue.gif

Finally had the chance to test drive the persona last week. I was given a M-Line auto version. Overall I think it is a good car for the money and I'm thinking of getting it or BLM.

One thing i like to ask the owners here is on the braking system. I feel like the car didn't have enough braking power and driving an auto one make it feel worse.

Could it be because I was driving a test drive car and that car was "tested" so many time that the brake worn out. I know the M and B line only have drum rear brake so it good enough for you guys out there. I'm planning to get the auto one so I think having a good braking system is quite important.

Yaya, breaking system for my M-line i alwasy feel is not power enof, everytime i drive on slanting road , i feel like the car cant stop as i wish , normally i change to lower gear then only press break to make the car stop "faster".

Myb this becos my drving skill problem also ... smile.gif

Generally the brakes feel soft, and I'm driving HL. But in a couple of situations when I had to brake hard, I was always in control. Perhaps it is as what some forumers have been saying, that the persona is tuned for family usage and so have a more comfort bias. For emergency braking, ralf will probably be a better person to answer.

b.tea. booked last year nov 07.. i was surprised that i could get the car on dec 07 but i passed. i don't want to have a car with manufactured date 07, registered 08.. so i skipped and wait for Jan 08 production smile.gif

my car was rolled out from the factory on 8th jan 08 (8.1.8).. nice eh? rclxms.gif

so far no probs.. only very minor quirks.. the car is better than expected!

after a few hundreds k's.. i experienced this problems:-

1) cd player have problems reading and ejecting cds.. always display CD ERROR message
2) slight noise when going over bump while turning the steering
3) vibration at 100km/h - could it be the driveshaft prob?

anybody got the same probs as mine?

i'm gonna complain on the first 1000km service.
*
Dude u gonna complain about the 3rd one ? I face it too with M-Line auto, I'm not sure if it happens on the manual version but I think is just the not-so-smooth spot of the gearbox and the engine rev range (about near 3k for auto at 4th gear). Unfortunately we use 100 km/h quite often and quite constantly on highways so it becomes a prob .. if such vibration or roughness happens at 180 km/h I wouldn't even bother.

Have u checked tire pressure...? Maybe tire pressure too high? just in case...BTW i never felt that kind of roughness at 100km/j or at another speed..thank god smile.gif

well regardless of what tire pressure also I hit that kind of vibration like 95% of the time at 100 km/h sleep.gif .. that's the prob .. the engine is about 3k or slightly below 3k rpm .. I don't feel that if the engine is at 3k rpm but in 1st, 2nd or 3rd gear .. just when it's 4th gear which results in about 100 km/h .. the vibration can be felt through the steering and my butt. It's mild, subtle, but it's there .. and once u go past that rev range ( > 110 km/h) then it's gone.

Summary:
- Auto box is smart, very usable, having 4 gears instead of 3 in the Wira is a great improvement.
- Rear view is rubbish, no-no for those who sucked in reverse parking .. that includes me LOL. And I dunno how reliable is the parking sensor.
- Engine is smooth and quiet, revvy at high range, but no surprises here.
- Rear seat so straight WTF .. no probs with height but is just too straight lol .. I'm not complaining co's I'm the driver, but the passengers are tongue.gif
- Love 3-spoke steering, some say it feels cheap, to me it's okay. Better usability to me is ok compared to better quality, give me leather wrapped 2 spoke steering and I'll puke.
- center armrest, very nice idea .. comfy.
- Front view very good .. short and slanting down bonnet.
- Side mirrors, so-so .. not as usable as Myvi (co's smaller mah)
- Turning circle ok-ok, no big suprise but usable for city.

Overall this car is improvement on Wira in a lot of areas, but carry no major surprises, not like it's a super cornering machine or that it scores major breakthrough in top speed, just practical, usable but very much welcomed improvements on an old model.

For 50k .. I would say it's a good buy overall. It's my dad's car I'm driving but I'm contemplating to retire my old Saga and get one of it too lol..

agree with u on that.. but i also feel its abit 'tail happy' as tiff nedel says it.. he doesnt say that about the persona la.. but when a car's rear likes to slide out tiff says its tail happy... why i say this is.. i've nvr let the rear slide out la in my persona (although ralf has tongue.gif)
but during fast cornering you can feel the back like... slowly giving way you know on the verges of sliding.. i think its cos back heavy maybe... just what i feel.. what about you guys?..
