Just from my small opinion and resources such as games magazine that i read bfor Since you ask the definition of hard core gamers: "Hardcore gamer is a term used to describe a type of video game player whose leisure time is largely devoted to playing or reading about video games. This type of gamer prefers to take significant time and practice on games, in contrast to a casual gamer. true hardcore gamers knows most, if not all games that are nominated for game of the year award, they usually tend to be especially good at one or more genre of games. They know release dates for games that they want. They respect copyright, owns original copies of games that they really like, knows the names of some game developers, among other things.

QUOTE(devilfedora81 @ Dec 12 2007, 03:49 PM) Ya mario kewl game Maybe because there are more casual gamers in the world and it shows by the rate both DS and Wii are selling around da world. Nintendo does not label Wii/DS as a product for casual gamers. What they did is that they expand their market to capture the casual market and also not depriving their "hardcore gamers" with the release on Metroid Corruption, Mario Galaxy and Zelda Twilight Princess. Those 3 gamers mentioned will take countless hours if you want to complete the game fully (Which should be good for any so called "hardcore gamers" to own).Better you ask nintendo because there are the one who label their product as for casual gamers Anyway this is just my opinion and I live through the 8 bit & 16 bit era with Mario. On the third party stuff, there are good/great games from them but I lazy to list it out (I'm sure you being a "hardcore gamer" can search on the internet yourself). More third party are coming and bringing their A game such as Capcom (Monster Hunter 3). As Wii keep on outselling both the rival systems every month, more third party will come and support it. Its just that they are doing the waiting game ATM. An if you have been living throught the atari era, you should know that when a system is currently on top, third party tends to flock it and as a result it will end with more crap than good games. This is true with the Atari's (The infamous ET game), Nintendo's and the Playstation's. On joining my club, are you sure your current "Hardcore Club" allows it as I thought their motto is Ninty Suxors!!. Edited: Anyway, I thought the TS asked current Wii AND 360/PS3 owners to give their constructive opinion. Seeing someone who doesn't own both but ends up posting bashing comment is not constructive in my opinion. This post has been edited by corez: Dec 12 2007, 05:16 PM |

That may be true, as you know i have a Wii as well and im a hardcore gamer...i even play with both the PS3 guys and 360 guys best i can....but i can tell you...the Wii is not the hardcore gamers machine..Most hardcore gamers have been gaming for years...i have been gaming for about 15 years...that means that they have been exposed to franchises that they care about like MGS, Tekken, DOA, Virtual Fighter, Halo....also hardcore gamers enjoy games that has plenty of action...The Wii..hardly has any action games when compared to the 360 and PS3. I mean no offense but lets have a comparison shall we? GTA 4: release for 360 and PS3....for hardcore gamers Mass Effect: release for 360...for hardcore gamers HAZE: release for PS3...for hardcore gamers Assassins Creed: release for PS3 and 360...for hardcore gamers Unreal Tournament 3: release for PS3 and 360...for hardcore gamers Gears of War...360...hardcore gamers... Mario Galaxy:...Wii...hardcore gamers Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles: Wii...hardcore gamers Metroid prime 3: Wii...hardcore gamers Manhunt 2...hardcore...Wii and PS2 Now.. Wii Sports...casual gamers WiiFit...Casual gamers Rayman Raving Rabbids...casual gamers Jenga...casual gamers Brain Age Wii...casual gamers Wii Play..casual gamers Mario and Sonic at the Olympics...casual gamers Cooking Mama..casual gamers mySims...casual gamers as you can tell the overwhelming majority of casual games belong to the Wii...also the Wii is missing several hardcore titles such as GTA.. once again this is my view, im not attacking the Wii at all... i have lots of fun with Mario and Umbrella CHronicles...and Rabbids 2 QUOTE(corez @ Dec 12 2007, 04:07 PM) Maybe because there are more casual gamers in the world and it shows by the rate both DS and Wii are selling around da world. Got Wii, DS, 360 and all the old gen stuff. DS is my portable buddy (Planet Puzzle League FTW!), bring it whenever I travel for work. Wii is great when you have friends over who don't play games and I only really play the awesome Nintendo games on my Wii (latest Mario Galaxy, if not it collects dust). 360 is my main one as there are plenty of great games and of course XBL just makes it a great social experience as well.

QUOTE(JayYeong39 @ Dec 12 2007, 05:39 PM) Hardcore gamer should choose Wii Sarcasm detected QUOTE(Hitman190 @ Dec 12 2007, 06:18 PM) Ok, btw my original posting (#28, #30 & #33) refers to post #23 "Wii so sux for hardcore gamers" and based on the definition of hardcore gamers in post #25 and #26.Lets start fresh and see your definition of hardcore gamers: -"Most hardcore gamers have been gaming for years"- Yeah, that maybe true. Even better if we can find annecdotal evidence on that. -"that means that they have been exposed to franchises that they care about like MGS, Tekken, DOA, Virtual Fighter, Halo"- Funny that you missed out on all the Nintendo franchises, maybe these hardcore gamers start playing games once PS and XBOX came out and not before. Oh BTW you missed out on Final Fantasy franchise which was originally from a Nintendo system before moving to a Playstation. -"also hardcore gamers enjoy games that has plenty of action"- Yeah, that maybe true. Even better if we can find annecdotal evidence on that. One question though, how about those kids who spent countless hours collecting their Pokemon OR someone who spent hours daily making sure their town are perfect in Animal Crossing. I'm pretty sure they are not casual gamers. And some other points to ponder. -"hardly has any action games when compared to the 360 and PS3". There are FPS games coming out now and for example MOH 2 has been touted as having the best FPS experience on any console. Other action are also coming in like No More Heroes, Monster Hunter 3, Dragon Quest Swords, Tomb Raider, Prince of Persia, Ghostbusters and ect -"Wii is missing several hardcore titles such as GTA". For sandbox kinda games Wii has Godfather and Scarface. In regards to GTA, Take Two has been releasing games such as Table Tennis and Manhunt on Wii. Who knows maybe they will bring the GTA francise to Wii if Wii keeps on selling by the bucketload. Anyway I still have some grief with Nintendo and their online setup. No voice chat BTW its good to see that we can have a good discussion and not to resort to name bashing posting like #23 & #31. Pss. Can you show me the reference where Nintendo mentioned that Wii is for casual |

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Corez, you provide great rebuttals... 1) First off im sorry for not mentioning the Nintendo franchises...its not out of spite...its just that i forgot sorry. I still remember my Super Mario 3 days on my NES...Absolutely nothing can take that memory away. What i mean by the casual gamer is that they dont play as long or as hard as we do....the Wii has several games targeted to the casual gamer... 2) it is also interesting that you mentioned No More Heroes as a hardcore title....i agree with you on that...but as you may know it bombed its release in Japan...which is unfortunate to say the least... 3) I knew that Scarface and Godfather was released for the Wii...the thing is that it was also released for the PS2... Fact is...both games bombed on the Wii... GODFATHER WII: Sales US 1) 15,871 2) 6,529 3) 3,833 TOTAL AMOUNT: 0.07 million PS2 sales: 0.81 million... SCARFACE: Wii US sales: 0.07 million PS2 sales: 1.01 million... These sale numbers aint mumbo jumbo either...vgchartz.com 4) Yes, i admit that i is too soon to write the Wii off as a GTA game machine...once again im sorry bout that... I really lost my respect for the casual crowd after the whole No More Heroes slump...that game looked so good, it always hurts me when a good game like Psychonauts, Beyond Good and Evil and No More Heroes lose out to crap like 50 cent... ANyway...about the Wii being targeted as a casual gamers machine.. "We're not thinking about fighting Sony, but about how many people we can get to play games. The thing we're thinking about most is not portable systems, consoles, and so forth, but that we want to get new people playing games." Satoru Iwata...i know it may seem cryptic...but what he's saying is that he wants to let the gaming market grow by including demographics who havent played games. "Let's face it. The bottom line of every E3 is simple: what's hot and what's not. Here's our take. What's hot is the feel of the game, the look is secondary. What's hot is the next leap, not just a small step. It's hot if it's disruptive, it's not if it's predictable. The future of our industry is inclusion, not exclusion. It's about the heat of emotion, not the chill of technology. We know that the future is right here. Wii and the DS represent the same thing: risk." Reggie Fils-Aime basically the same thing...increased demographics... Once again, i would like to say im not attacking the Wii....im just having a polite conversation about casual and hardcores one more thing...the online support is (without a kinder word)...weak...friend codes...too hard to input..
