I'm sorry if i hurt some one feeling, fan or a group here. Just from my small opinion and resources such as games magazine that i read bfor smile.gif There already mention there target gamers for certain console.Nintendo did mention that Wii is more for casual gamers and family environment. Nuthing wrong with that  and it fun anyway smile.gif i do own DS and i love it sumtimes  whistling.gif

Since you ask the definition of hard core gamers:
"Hardcore gamer is a term used to describe a type of video game player whose leisure time is largely devoted to playing or reading about video games. This type of gamer prefers to take significant time and practice on games, in contrast to a casual gamer. Many hardcore gamers pride themselves on mastering the rules or use of a game, although this is not a strict requirement."

resource from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hardcore_gamer
hehe tongue.gif copy paste the definition of it keke

So if i spent 8 hours daily playing Mario Galaxy trying to colelct all 120 stars thats qualify me as Hardcore gamers lah.

Edited: So how come Wii is so suck for hardcore gamers then? Even Will owners "they usually tend to be especially good at one or more genre of games. They know release dates for games that they want. They respect copyright, owns original copies of games that they really like, knows the names of some game developers, among other things." as mentioned by slickzs

Ya mario kewl game smile.gif it show that u are mario hard core fan then smile.gif
Better you ask nintendo because there are the one who label their product as for casual gamers smile.gif cheer up man smile.gif i also plan to buy Wii as i love to collect console  whistling.gif

Maybe because there are more casual gamers in the world and it shows by the rate both DS and Wii are selling around da world. Nintendo does not label Wii/DS as a product for casual gamers. What they did is that they expand their market to capture the casual market and also not depriving their "hardcore gamers" with the release on Metroid Corruption, Mario Galaxy and Zelda Twilight Princess. Those 3 gamers mentioned will take countless hours if you want to complete the game fully (Which should be good for any so called "hardcore gamers" to own).

Anyway this is just my opinion and I live through the 8 bit & 16 bit era with Mario. (SONIC SUXORS)

Hope more AAA game title such as zelda, metroid etc...will come to Wii and less crap game from third party developer. Well not to mention that i live since atari era  whistling.gif

Anyway can i join ur nintendo fan club? icon_rolleyes.gif

shakehead.gif shakehead.gif And I thought we had a good discussions going on.

On the third party stuff, there are good/great games from them but I lazy to list it out (I'm sure you being a "hardcore gamer" can search on the internet yourself). More third party are coming and bringing their A game such as Capcom (Monster Hunter 3). As Wii keep on outselling both the rival systems every month, more third party will come and support it. Its just that they are doing the waiting game ATM.

An if you have been living throught the atari era, you should know that when a system is currently on top, third party tends to flock it and as a result it will end with more crap than good games. This is true with the Atari's (The infamous ET game), Nintendo's and the Playstation's.

On joining my club, are you sure your current "Hardcore Club" allows it as I thought their motto is Ninty Suxors!!.

Edited: Anyway, I thought the TS asked current Wii AND 360/PS3 owners to give their constructive opinion. Seeing someone who doesn't own both but ends up posting bashing comment is not constructive in my opinion. whistling.gif

Ok, btw my original posting (#28, #30 & #33) refers to post #23 "Wii so sux for hardcore gamers" and based on the definition of hardcore gamers in post #25 and #26.

Lets start fresh and see your definition of hardcore gamers:

-"Most hardcore gamers have been gaming for years"- Yeah, that maybe true. Even better if we can find annecdotal evidence on that.

-"that means that they have been exposed to franchises that they care about like MGS, Tekken, DOA, Virtual Fighter, Halo"- Funny that you missed out on all the Nintendo franchises, maybe these hardcore gamers start playing games once PS and XBOX came out and not before. Oh BTW you missed out on Final Fantasy franchise which was originally from a Nintendo system before moving to a Playstation.

-"also hardcore gamers enjoy games that has plenty of action"- Yeah, that maybe true. Even better if we can find annecdotal evidence on that. One question though, how about those kids who spent countless hours collecting their Pokemon OR someone who spent hours daily making sure their town are perfect in Animal Crossing. I'm pretty sure they are not casual gamers.

And some other points to ponder.

-"hardly has any action games when compared to the 360 and PS3". There are FPS games coming out now and for example MOH 2 has been touted as having the best FPS experience on any console. Other action are also coming in like No More Heroes, Monster Hunter 3, Dragon Quest Swords, Tomb Raider, Prince of Persia, Ghostbusters and ect

-"Wii is missing several hardcore titles such as GTA". For sandbox kinda games Wii has Godfather and Scarface. In regards to GTA, Take Two has been releasing games such as Table Tennis and Manhunt on Wii. Who knows maybe they will bring the GTA francise to Wii if Wii keeps on selling by the bucketload.

Anyway I still have some grief with Nintendo and their online setup. No voice chat vmad.gif . Friend Code? Nice to meet you Mr 1123-2345-3214.

BTW its good to see that we can have a good discussion and not to resort to name bashing posting like #23 & #31.

Pss. Can you show me the reference where Nintendo mentioned that Wii is for casual blush.gif

Firstly, I think we are kinda getting OT ATM.

I hope that TS appreciate our friendly banter rather than any 1 liner garbage post with nothing constructive.

1. With all the release of the games above like NMH, Godfather, Scarface it shows that third parties do have the initiative to produce games other that the usual party mini games associated with Wii. Now the onus is on the Wii owners to purchase it and show the developers that such games are in demand. Sadly this is slow at the moment and hopefully it will pick up. I too feel mad when SMG did not take off in Japan in terms of sales.

2. As for the sales chart, please bear in mind that currently there are 45 mill ps2 owners in USA compared to 7 mill Wii owners. Taking those figure into account, the sales of Godfather and Scarface for Wii is barely below half of the sales for PS2. Still not good but something to look at.

3. In terms of the quote from Reggie and Iwata, no arguement from me. However, they also have repeteadly stress that hardcore crowd wont be left out. Again too lazy to find the quote as most are quotes from the E3 video.

4. Finally, could Nintendo please upgrade their online infrastructure. I need to be able to tell my squad members to flank me immediately rather that dying on the spot while typing the command vmad.gif

you are hardcore when:-

1- spent countless hours trying to get the last star that seems out of reach
2- grind thousands and thousands of minions just to find that special item
3- killing fellow gamers just to get that 10,000 kill achievement

you are dead hardcore when:-

1- neglect your family just to finish up the game
2- skip your job to pawn players from the other continent
3- stay awake for 3 nights just to play some mmog

etc etc. you get the drift. it doesnt matter what console, its the player that defines hardcore. with that said, i vote for the 360 for countless online fun!!

Yup, totally agree. Purchasing a specific console doesn't make someone a hardcore player.
