I'll try my best to answer ur questions on Foundation IT course. I hope it still can be applied to u all since my Foundation year was 4 years back..

For your first semester, based on the reference from the uniten website..Foundation in Information Technology will be taking these following subjects:

1. Computer Literacy
- From the name you can guess..is all about basic about computer..like history of computers, what r computer consist of..theory subject but there is lab session for it where u guys will be taught on Visual Basic Programming.

2. Modern Applied Maths
- A little bit advance of secondary school Maths. If you like Maths, there should b no prob.

3. Introduction to Malaysian Constitution
- In Malay it is called Perlembagaan Malaysia which is Malaysia Law. Not a favourite subject for everyone coz too theoretical. U need to memorize a lot of Articles. rclxub.gif

4. Academic Study Skills
- Bout this subject..I'm not sure how to explain it n I dun really remember bout this subject..Maybe any of thread member could help..

5. Co-Curriculum
- You guys can choose one co-curriculum from Swimming, Kayaking, Golf, Aerobics and Horse Riding.

6. English
- English subject. Grammar, Essay writing n etc

Basically is all depend to individual to get good grades. My advises will be:
1. pay attention during the lectures. take down the notes especially if the lecturer keep repeating the same point..it might come out for the exam.
2. come for every classes bcoz certain subject attendance is included as carry marks. For me 5% is still important
3. do your best for in-class assignment n lab assignment.
4. take ur own initiative to meet the lecturer if u hv trouble in that particular subject. *it depends on certain lecturer
5. go to the library n photostat past year/semester exam question coz some of the lecturers love to repeat the questions. *Side back is it doesn't provide answers

I hope with this advises it will help u guys/girls to get good grades biggrin.gif It is very important to maintain your cgpa 3 and above. It is crucial to get a good start from Foundation itself, do not listen to them that Foundation is a honeymoon year. I've seen a lot of friends who repeated Foundation course and some even could not continue for Degree because could not meet the minimum requirement.

i took academic study skills during during my 1st sem for foundation, basically it's teaching you how to study and survive your college life, hence the name academic study skills. it could be fun or boring, sometimes depends on how to lecturer conduct the class. there are quite a number of in-class activities for this subject. i've had 2 different lecturers when i took this subject, one was quite boring, and somehow affected the class. the old one left and came a new lecturer, who was not bad la. he was very lenient, can joke around, altho when teaching that time can sometimes be boring, coz all da steps, thoery, etc.

anyway, last time he said the uni might abolish this subject for the next intake, i wonder why still got.

agree with what syun said, foundation isnt a honeymoon. the timetable can be quite pack at times. but that doesnt mean you cant have fun. biggrin.gif i have friends too who repeat some subjects in foundation, end up spending more coz need to pay for the subject, lodging, etc.

nahhh.. dont worry about it.. first week they will say cannot wear this, cannot wear that, hair short.. bla bla bla.. but once the orientation finishes everything is back to normal.. no one bothers.. unless u get some strict lecturer .. then ur in trouble. tongue.gif

Hmm I've read that for classes students must wear collared t-shirts right? Is it actually a must to wear collared t-shirt?

not necessary. last time the letter they send to me before entering foundation got picture summore, what to wear on mondays and other days. that time i just follow, bought quite a number of collared t-shirts, thinking must follow. actually i think they're quite lenient on this. occasionally i wear collared ones, but usually i wear round-neck also. that's my POV. any other seniors can comment?

I've got that too about the dress code for classes. I know Mondays aren't exceptional unless it's in the workshop or something. Anyway in your case, has any lecturers told you not to wear round neck shirts for classes?

so far none. maybe foundie lecturers are nice. laugh.gif but occasionally got some lecturers say don't wear slippers to class. some of my classmates were told before, but that was during lab sessions. got one more was wearing a cap, and was told to take it off.

for foundie you're given the timetable. everything is already arranged for you by the academic staff. i'm not so sure about the min requirement, i think it's cgpa of 2.0.

depend on the lecturer.. if he/she dun mind, then its ok la.. but NEVER wear round neck t-shirt to admin building.. its so dangerous there.. i once was told to go back to hostel n change my t-shirt.. n wear shoes.. btw.. u can wear sandal to class..

Then what do you mean by HOT if they aren't pretty or cute? What bout the "WOW" factor in the girl? "Ketandusan" here means very sad..the first time I see tis word I can already feel the boredom without girls...but sometimes it could be fun without girls! HAHA just my imagination

some info for gamers: all apartment have internet connection.. all apartment is interconnected.. so there will be a large LAN connection between uniten student in uniten apartment. There are intranet community within uniten LAN. There are also intranet websites... for file sharing purpose, (anime n tvseries) and also a lot of game server.. such as unitenbnet ( almost 70 players online every night ) CS,RO, Lineage 2, WOW, and many more.. currently... the most popular game in uniten LAN is DotA , CS, RO and WOW.. Sometime... an independent group will organize a LAnparty for uniten student...
conclusion: Uniten is a nice place for gamers.. but pls dun skip class because of these game.

what is meant by HOT is... their clothing makes them so HOT until u eye ball melt.
