huh? both from McOrange?
how bout other lecturer? eg: Daniel Ho and Andrew Pang
hehe.. doing survey before i decided to enrol to their revision class.. very expensive er..  cry.gif
*
Daniel Ho and Andrew Pang good oso lah! But you need to careful if attend Andrew's class cos he is very good in calculation but not so good in theory.

Andrew won't cover too much theory in the class. If I'm not mistake, he will give one booklet of question for all the P4/P5 theory and he will give some brief for it during last class. But he is very strong in calculation part, so if you attend his class, your calculation may be will expert oso lah. Ha Ha!

may i know which lecturer is more recommended for P2? Keith farmer OR Joe Fang(KLC) or Haneef.
cos i want to attend P2 revision class. thanks.
*
Both oso recommended, it is depend on what you want from them.

Haneef very good in accounting standard. But if attend his class, you will feel very sleepy cos he is very boring lecturer. His technnique to answer consol question very good for understanding but very slow. If use his method to answer consol question during exam, I think it is possible for us unable to finish it on time.

Keith Farmer, very famous lecturer in this paper. His technique to answer consol question very good and fast. His exam technique for this paper good oso. One thing no good was he is very slow in teaching this paper and I think he unable to finish the syllabus on time. And you must try to accept his slang during attend his class.

Joe Fang, very good in consol question but not so good in accounting standard. And I think you better don't go Joe Fang cos my friend told me if you didn't attend his normal class b4, you will feel very hard to understand when attend his revsison class.

first of all.. thank u so much for ur feedback..
erm.. according to wat u said.. so i should go for Daniel Ho's class?
actually i prefer someone with good explanation on how the calculation is being done.. and give out the reasoning behind it..
coz i really stucked on it..

Bout Andrew.. izit he will skip those theory and jz concentrate on calculation? If this is the case, then it is kinda dangerous also..

sigh..in dilemma now  rclxub.gif
*
I never attend Daniel class b4, so difficult to give comment. But according to somebody, he is very good oso in P4.

For Andrew, he don't cover too much theory b'cos of his broken English. He won't skip theory but just give a simple brief during last class.

So may be for P4, you can go to Daniel and for P5 you can go to Andrew la!

I am a bit confused here..can anyone tell me do we need to take all 3 papers P1, P2 and P3 in one sitting? hmm.gif

Added on March 28, 2008, 1:37 pm

Is that mean we don't have to take P1, P2 and P3 together in one sitting?
*
What he means was :If you want to take any options paper now, you need to take P1 to P3 at the same time. Means you must take 4 papers, ie P1 + P2 + P3 + any options paper.

But if you don't take any options paper, then you can take any one from P1 to P3 lo!

Simple means that you can't just sign up any options paper without take all the P1 to P3.

May i ask, which is the best revision centre for ACCA?

what is the most common way for ACCA student to decide how many papers to take per sitting?

appreciate ur replies ^ ^
*
Depend on what paper you take, cos difference college got difference good lecturer. But most of the student will go Kasturi or Mc Orange. So wat paper you plan to take this coming sitting?

For how many take per sitting, it is depend on yourself. Some student very smart, even work full time also can take 4 paper per sitting. Some student feel that very difficult, then only take 1 or 2 paper per sitting.

May be if you study full time, I prefer you try 3 or 4 paper lah. But if you part time student, I prefer you better take 1 or 2 paper per sitting.

why? why everyone impliedly say sunway better but no one else dare to criticise.
*
Study ACCA don't just thinking Sunway. Other college like Kasturi, Mc Orange, Kolej Bandar, FTMS and SEGi offer cheaper tuition fees with better quality lecturer.

And don't just look at the prize winner. I can tell you that " For those ACCA prize winner in Sunway, do you know their name possible also appear in Kasturi or Mc Orange name list?" Means that a lot of Sunway student also go to Kasturi or Mc Orange for addtional tuition. That is a reason why Sunway student can get special discount if go to Kasturi attend Revision class.

Study ACCA always follow lecturer, but not follow college.

i appreciate ur reply ^^

Is Kasturi and Mc Orange a recommended revision centre? Where is Mc Orange located?

err..actually i only start my ACCA course in the 1st of July.I m going to study full-time,so u wil encourage me to take 3-4 papers per sitting?
May i know the reasons please?
Most of the student in KL will go Kasturi or Mc Orange, except for some paper. For eg, P6 - Advanced Taxation, student will go to SEGi if Kwai Fatt run the class.

So I think it is a good recommendation for you lah!

Mc Orange is near to Muzium Telekom, KL.

I'm encourage you take 3 - 4 paper b'cos you as full time student got more time to study. If you really feel hard to hadden, then go for 3 paper lo! You better finish as fast as possible as you study full time.

I will prefer you go to Kasturi or Mc Orange if you want good lecturer. Most of the famous lecturer normally run ACCA class at this 2 college.

The best way to study ACCA is follow good quality lecturer, but not follow college.

For Sunway, I agree with most of people, they provide very good study environment. But as a ACCA student, we should put the priority on good quality lecturer.

Some more, study in KL, the tuition fee is much much much cheaper than Sunway.

Lastly, don't just look at the prize winner of ACCA to make decision!

any suggestion?
*
You no need to worry too much about this problem, cos both KL college are in the town. Both Kasturi, Kolej Bandar, SEGi, FTMS and Mc Orange also very nearby. You only need to walk around 5 to 10 minutes from 1 college to another college.

But if you still want to choose one college, may be you can try Kasturi lo. Majority of the ACCA lecturer in Kasturi also have very good experience in teaching ACCA. But my advise was, you still need to go for other college for some paper, for eg P6 - Advanced Taxation.

thx for ur information^^

i wonder y it's better for me to finish as soon as i can?

err,

how can we know that which lecturer is running a revision class?

Mmm..i wil b studying in Ftms. If i remember aright, there r also revisions provided there before exam. But i dunno whether it's true onot.

Is it enough for me to attend revision class at my own college?
*
For which lecturer running a revision, you need to refer to your college. For June exam, normally the time table for revision class will out around March-April. For Dec exam, the time table for revision class will out around Sept-Oct.

June exam - Lecturer will run the revision class in May, Dec exam - Lecturer will run the revision class in Nov.

For attend revision class at own college, also depend on yourself. Some of the ppl feel that their lecturer unable to give them good exam technique, so they will choose other college to attend la!

My advise was you try your own college lecturer at normal class and thinking can him/her give you a sufficent study material for exam. If not, then try difference lecturer at other college la!

Lastly, what paper you planning to take in next coming sitting (June or Dec), so may be I can give you some recommendation for the lecturer.

I agree what as that u said...
it is depend on lecturer. Chong Kwai Fatt very pro in Taxation.. He is part time lecturer in University Malaya as well.
How much is his revision class at SEGi?
Frankly, I dun like a college which is merely a tuition centre. No college life. I wish to have a college life as we are students... Have to enjoy college life.
I am currently TARC penang campus student.
F6-F9 i will take in SUNWAY.
Does it difficult? If i go Advance Diploma.. these 4 papers will only be finished in 1 year time.
If i take externally, i may clear all in half a year.
*
Choong Kwai Fatt didn't run IRC for June 08 and not sure he will back or not next coming sitting.

For F6-F9, I can't said it is very difficult, but if you hardworking, I think you can pass lah!

My advise was even you dun like college merely tuition centre but the if lecturer will run the class on that college, you better go also. And do you know that most of the famous lecturer also run the class at KSA or Mc Orange, this type of college merely like tuition centre?

I asking you some question also, for Sunway student, they have a very good college life but due to some lecturer inexperince in teaching ACCA, so a lot of the Sunway student go to KL college for additional tuition or attend revision class. Do you like if you study like that? Some more you already paid more than thousand per subject in Sunway and go to KL paid few hundred for additional tuition or revision class, do you like it?

If I'm you, I won't choose to waste this money.

but den smart students oso mean that they r smart in nature....den can teach themselves without additional lectures...
den whether d lecturer is gud or not, it has no difference to them...oni ppl hu consistently get high marks considered as smart ppl...haha.... rclxm9.gif  rclxm9.gif

not so many sunway students went out for tuition actually...mayb wat u c is oni 50 students...
but 50 is vv small compared to the total ACCA students in sunway..roughly about 2000 students...

lolz...sunway reli had made success in advertising...no wonder when tok about ACCA, those fresh starters wud surely toka bout sunway..

when i jz fnsh SPM, n wana do ACCA, d oni option i had in mind is TARC n Sunway, n thus, i chus sunway bcoz its more reputable....n den when i had joined d programme, yeap, most of famous lecturers had reli left sunway....
oni left "NONME"...n since d syllabus now had been revised, it reli poses lotsa prob to sunway....lecturers' experience played a much greater n essential role, as they nida adapt to the syllabus n teach the students....no past year ques is available for sum pprs....

so, chus for urself....i tink ther r enuf ques of whether to chus sunway or tarc or kasturi or mcorange or FTMS or kolej bandar......coz v adi giv relevant n sufficient info for fresh brats to start ACCA...

*
Do you know that the prize winner from Sunway also appear in the Kasturi/MCO name list?

You said no many student go out for tuition? I tell you a story la! My friend in June 2005 attend the 3 core paper in Sunway, majority of his classmate paid 3 paper school fees but only attend 3.6, and go to Kasturi for additional tuition for 3.5 and 3.7.

And do you why Sunway and TARC student can get Kasturi student price for revision class? B'cos Andrew Pang know a lot of them will come to KL for additional tuition, especially for Professional Level paper.

I always put the priority on the quality lecturer. Study environment is not very important for me cos ACCA is external exam. We are ACCA student, but not Sunway, MCO or Kasturi student. All this college just provide us a tuition class, they nothing to do to our qualification.

For me, paid extra too much fees to enjoy the college life is waste. Some more, they fail to provide us with quality lecturer, so why we still want to paid too much?

Yalah, I agree those student with Ms Menon(F7 and P2), they won't go to KL for tuition. But for other papers, especially Professional Level, they possible will go for tuition or attend revision class in KL lah!

Ha Ha Ha, last time my friend when go to Kasturi to attend Philip Woo P1, he told me Kasturi no college life as compare with Sunway. He said study in Kasturi very boring, during break no place to walk. I think may be he is not biasa cos Kasturi look like tuition centre.

Yes, agree with what you mentioned above. But curiousity come when Sunway students claimed that they have the advantages over others since they are produced by Sunway. With the Sunway's reputation, they are able to enter Big 4 easier than other institutes do, as Sunway having certain "relationship" with Big 4?
*
Not neccesary, cos we are ACCA student, not college student. When you go to interview, if you got ACCA, no people will interesting where are you study.

I got a friend from Sunway try to apply BIG 4 after grad ACCA, but final fail to go in. After 1 year he work at medium size audit firm, he apply again with his working experience, baru BIG 4 accept him.

I also got a friend from other institutes, he try to apply KPMG just with OBU and finally KPMG accept him.

So, young man, don't look at this thing. Study ACCA always put the pririoty in quality lecturer. You are not study Degree, so there is no difference for the qualification from any college after you grad ACCA.

You can just memorise for Audit paper. You must know how to apply your audit knowledge in this paper.

Basically, knowledge based question just 30%-40% in F8, the balance will be application based question.

Trust me, go to Philip Woo(Kasturi) or Sheila(Mc Orange) class, then you will know how to do in this paper.

I never attend Ms Menon class b4, so hard to give comment. But according to my friend in Sunway said that, Ms Menon was only the good ACCA lecturer in Sunway currently. She is teaching F7 and P2, that's why the tution fees is more expensive for this 2 paper.

But you paid so much fees in Sunway to attend only MS Menon, why not go to KL to attend better quality lecturer with reasonable tuition fees? KL also got good F7/P2 lecturer mah!

Remember, KL college won't charge admin fees RM2,500 per sem.
