Devastator Confirmed For Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

TFW2005 have received confirmation that the combiner Devastator will appear in Transformers 2. The confirmation includes the following details:

- Seven construction vehicles merge to form Devastator
- Devastator has lots of upper body strength, like a gorilla
- Not just green, some of the vehicles are red and yellow
- The previously Long Haul concept art (image below) by Josh Nizzi is legit



Devastator will be one of many new robots in the sequel. New robots include Autobot “Twins” who transform into an ice cream van, an Autobot Chevrolet Trax; a Autobot Chevrolet Corvette; an Audi R8; a Frenzy-like character; and robots who can transform into weapons.

While speaking with MTV news director Michael Bay revealed "upwards of 20 robots will do battle in the sequel" also stating that he will focus on how the robots will be more fully and individually realized than on the number of robots. Which means will will not only see more giant robot death matches, but a far more in depth analysis of the bots (weapons, background, types of machine, etc...). "The robots are going to surprise a lot of people because we go with a lot of different levels," he said.

Pictures of Autobot SIDESWIPE have been making the rounds on the net. It's a 2006 Lamborghini Murcielago in alternate mode. Keep in mind the false "leaks" are abound and nothing is confirmed.

A different type of police car has been seen on set, than the one used as the alternate mode for Barricade. Leading to some speculation that maybe Prowl, the other second-in-command of the Autobots, will be appearing in the film. Although this could simply be a generic cop car in the film. No further details are available at this time.

A small ice cream truck has been spotted frequently at the Bethlehem Steel site in Pennsylvania. This vehicle is only one of two, as Wikipedia states that these two characters who are autobot twins, will combine to make 1 Transformer.

No Ice Cream Truck for Soundwave in 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen'

Soundwave won't be transforming into an ice cream truck in "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen". According to Transformers fansite TFW2005, screenwriter Roberto Orci has stated the fact adding that the baddie known as Megatron's most loyal lieutenant is also not going to be an iPod or a combiner made of many iPods. Though noting what the villain will not turn into, he did not share its alternate mode.

Aside from discussing about Soundwave, Orci also addressed Jazz's issue hinting that the fallen Autobot in "Transformers" will not have its full return or be presented in flashbacks. On Megatron's possible new name, Galvatron, he simply said, "We talked about it a lot." Additionally, he confirmed that the principle photography is going to be wrapped up in "another five weeks or so".

On other "Revenge of the Fallen" news, AICN reported that the sequel's full trailer will be making its way to the big screen attached to J.J. Abram's "Star Trek" which is expected to be screened in theaters on May 8, 2009. Furthermore, Slash Film suggested that its teaser trailer is most likely to be released along with "Eagle Eye".

Due to be released on June 26, 2009, "Revenge of the Fallen" comes from director Michael Bay and the screenwriting team of Ehren Kruger, Alex Kurtzman and Orci. It follows the story about two clashing robot clans on Earth. This time, the heroes will be facing a stronger and more powerful villain, the Fallen, which forces them to bring back their foe Megatron.

Starring Shia LaBeouf as Sam Witwicky, the human friend of the friendly alien robots Autobots, the flick is also supported by Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, John Turturro, Isabel Lucas, Rainn Wilson and many others. The production was once shortly halted due to LaBeouf's car accident in late July.

Full Length Transformers 2 Trailer Attached to Star Trek



It was announced that the full trailer for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will be attached to JJ Abrams‘ Star Trek, which hits theaters on May 8th 2009. The teaser trailer is due out by the end of the year, possibly attached to Eagle Eye, which is written and produced Transformers 2 screenwriters Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. Before you complain that May is too late for the full Transformers trailer, remember that the full length trailer for the original film was attached to Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, which was released in late May. So the timeframe is almost exactly the same, if not a little bit earlier.

Transformers 2 Full Trailer 8 Months Away



SlashFilm was good enough to report that the full length trailer for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will be premiere before J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek reboot… which doesn’t hit theaters until May 8, 2009.

Now you may be thinking: “But Kofi, that’s only about a month before Transformers 2 hits theaters on June 26, 2009!” And you would be correct: it does seem like a slim window of time in which to lure audiences into the theater.

But then again, a lot of the marketing work for Transformers 2 is already being done… literally as I type this

Whether you love it or hate it before you’ve seen it, the Internet is keeping Transformers 2 in the mouths and minds of a lot of people. Why would the studio spend money on half a dozen trailers and two-dozen TV spots when every piece of concept art, location art, production stills, video clips and behind-the-scenes news is being distributed amongst the public for free?

Also lets keep in mind that this is a sequel we’re talking about, which means that, excluding the percentage of people who hated the first Transformers, (95% of whom are apparently either readers or writers here at Screen Rant,) the second installment already has a sizable built-in audience.



Finally, as /Film pointed out, the first full trailer for Transformers debuted before Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World’s End, which was released in May of 2007; roughly a month before the first Transformers movie. So really, all we’re seeing is the same game plan as last time being put into action.

Still, May 2009 is a long time for me to wait to see Devastator rage on the big screen. Of course, a teaser trailer for Transfomers: Revenge of the Fallen is rumored to be hitting theaters this winter, but don’t expect to see anything too cool, there. Just buckle down like I am, and wait for May to get here.

Shia LaBeouf 'Getting Through' Hand Injury



Action star Shia LaBeouf is just as tough off screen as he is on.

"I'm just propped up right now to do Transformers 2," LaBeouf told PEOPLE of his left hand at Tuesday's Eagle Eye premiere in Hollywood. "Then, when I get another surgery, I'll start recovering. Right now, I'm getting through."

It was his first red carpet appearance since the July 27 DUI citation and accident that crushed his hand. The 22-year-old kept the healing appendage, which was in a white protective guard, in his pocket for most of the night. And when asked if he was "70- to 80-percent back to normal," LaBeouf joked, "I haven't percentaged it out."

LaBeouf's hand injury, which left two of his fingers broken, forced a script rewrite of Transformers 2, which is currently in production. The changes are minor, according to one of the movie's writers.

"It will be a part of it," Alex Kurtzman, Transformers 2 co-writer and Eagle Eye producer, said. "Very little, actually, very little. Without giving too much away, it actually fit very organically into what we were already doing."

LaBeouf revealed to PEOPLE that it's the elaborate action sequences with explosions on Eagle Eye, Transformers 2, and Indiana Jones 4 where actors stand to get injured.

"You start pushing it a little bit. The scary thing about doing it so often is you take certain things for granted," he said. "You forget to put the elbow pad on, and you wind up wrecking your elbow … You become jaded. It's work to not become jaded."
