It's me again. Time to give some poisons again laugh.gif
I am sure some of the forumers has gotten the chance to test it out, this is just a humble review of it.

First and foremost, some photo poisons first. There are currently two prototype for the X3i and XBi, the "red-blue ring" and "silver ring". The silver ring looks gorgeous but a lazy man like me prefer the red blue for the ease of usage. Just remember "R"ed for "R"ight and blue for left. smile.gif

As you can see, the X3i and XBi is labeled on the cable.

The package includes all the thing you need now. The cable manager, airplane adapter, S, M, L size soft flex and the double flanges! shocking.gif . The new packaging also looks nicer.

Before I begin, let's talk about the build quality. For this "i" version, it does not only focuses on improving the sound quality, they also put a lot effort on the some QC problem we had. blush.gif By the look of it, many would say the new shell is small and looks weird to fit in. In fact, it's more comfortable than the previous version (as least to me) as it's freaking light weight, you don't feel anything sticking into your ears. cool.gif The new flex is softer and it will just slid in your ears, good seal is promised, we have a lot of choices too right? (double flange etc).
And all hail to Iphone users, look at the plug used!!!

user posted image

The mesh used in this new version isn't the metal mesh you always seen in the normal IEM right now. It looks more fragile but more elastic. I don't dare to touch a lot. laugh.gif Just take a look.

There's a small 'air hole' in the back of the shell, I guess that's the reason this version sounds very airy, and transparent.

Another humble small review on the SQ for these little creatures. I only manage to burn in 8 hours and I hope it suffice.

Songs tested:
Faye Wong - Tian Kong unplugged
The Eagles - Hotel California live
Jewel - Enter from the East
Norah Jones - Don't know why
Jay Chou - Qing Hua Chi
Johannes Linstead - Hour of the lamps
Utada Hikaru - First love
FF9 sound tracks
Some classical tracks
Some pop songs

Overall they could handle incredibly well nearly all genres I have picked. Classical, vocals, pops, rocks, instrumentals.
The first impression on X3i is: bright but soothing, detailed, tight bass, has good extension to treble, good stagging.
while XBi I have a feeling of: warmer sounding, bassy but doesn't lose a lot details, good 3D imaging, dynamic; again, like previous version, scales well with amplification.

I was having a shock on this IEM when I tested it at Uncle Wilson's store, I had a blind test last time and I thought X3i was XBi!!! Bass is strong ang tight; but OMG the details are still amplified. I couldn't believe my eyes that the label there was X3i. So now the X3i is the previous X3 + XB type of music. The bass isn't lacking at all this time. Micro details again, improved with the large leap in both ends.
The XBi, has lots of bass, at first it really muds the details in highs, but I brought it and let both of the unit had a burn in it kindda tames down. Details are better and amplified, most of them say the new XBi is previous XB+XB. But I give it a tag of XBi = XB + XB + X3 . cool.gif It has good details and it deserve that. The bass now has kick, punchy, energy and runs deep. Drums are articulate in pervious XB, so do this.
In this "i" version, the staging and transparency between instruments are h3ll shocking. Airy feeling like the KSC75 I had. I can even feel the resonance of air between singer and instrument played. Or between the fingers and the guitar strings plucked. I think it would be the small air hole doing the trick? (Is it? blink.gif ) The XBi seems to have better 3D imaging to me, gotta consult the experts and ask their opinions. laugh.gif

Still doing more burn in...

Update on 20 hours mark of burn in cool.gif :
Both creature already exhibiting the smooth flowness of the music.
The XBi reminds me a bit of the HD650 bass. Not totally similar though.
The XBi bass is quite strong, too strong for me and I feel a bit fatigue after long hours of listening. Too much PoM POM laugh.gif
While the X3i smoothen the brightness, and edgy ends, adding a bit more punch on the bass again. thumbup.gif
I feel there's more potential later on smile.gif

Hi guys, after 30 hours burn in, i think this is the right time for me the review this X3i and XBi...it come to my tough time as i finally found that i m not really a good reviewer coz i have to make sure i m fair to giving most accurate views after my listening, and thus i decide to change my style for reviewing by compare it with songs....rather than criticizing which are good and bad...

and let me give some introduction, x3i is claimed to have warmer signature while xbi having dark signatures, pls do mind that xbi do have the better response of low frequency which is BASS, but pls do not think that x3i doesn't perform well with low frequency(bass) as this is wrong, this new model x3i do have a very good bass impact and personally i found that it is more than enuf for every single ordinary users who excluded hard-rock,metal :S..so u might ask me, what is the point of having x3i since it bass loss to xbi, as my thought, M'sia tend to overly influences by those philips, sony brand which brought us the view that high bass=good sounds, i extremely disagree with this as those unquality bass does nt sound sweet to me ( i have found that what kind of bass is quality, this incurred learning of "listening" as to every single sound), as i m not really going to comment all others stuff, so i will stop criticizing others products biggrin.gif

ok, let's start my own evaluations...

Iriver H120
Ibasso D1 DAC
Ibasso D1 AMP
CrossRoads Mylarone XBi
CrossRoads Mylarone X3i

Susan Wong - Close to you
In this songs, i found that x3i have very good instrument response with very good separation, and yes the vocals really sweet to me, and it enable me to enjoy on the "wet" vocals of the singers. Come to xbi, it have slightly dark signature where you can exactly felt the story of the songs, but with less lively kind of presentations, but this is more closer to those Hi-fi systems, which i found quite numbers of hi-fi systems having very dark signatures, the bass response is superb here and u can exactly felt the drum impacts here.

Susan Wongs - Killing me softly
let start on xbi firts, yeah, the xbi signature defintely present better on this songs as it faithfully represents how sad the singers are, having very good separations but yet it give you impact each instrument accurately. as for x3i, u can exactly focus on the vocals of susan and u can even listen her breath in the beginning, with more refined vocals "shadow", sufficient low frequency response with more lively presentations, giving the totally different feels on this songs which compare to xbi.

Emi Fujita - Best of my love
x3i having quite good synergy with this songs, the background instrument is very refined, u would c alot of instrument at the background, which i felt soundstage wider than xb. go to xbi, i felt it is pretty not suit as slightly forwards signatures with narrow soundstages which compare x3i.

Martin Monoit son Portian au Marche
the high frequency of xbi in this songs really surprises me, almost go near to my hd580 at my memory, i was like omg once it reach the high frequency. however, x3i do perform quite well, having almost same level which compare to xbi, but due to laid back signature, thus the excitement of the songs is like slightly worse off which compare to x3i, but both of this new model really shock me as previous mylar doesnt perform well in high frequency.

Norah Jones - Not too late
x3i seen to have better seperations but xbi do perform very well on the impact of instrument, due to well perform of mid low frequency.nothing surprises me but i was quite enjoy with the sound on xbi due to slightly dark signatures, it really suit this songs very well.

Jay Chow - The longest story
x3i do perform very well in this songs, the vocals from x3i do giving u the feeling of sad, and u can exact feeling like jay chow is very very sad while recording songs, and due to good sources, first time i found that jay chow sang really well, and he do really improve alot of singing skills, ops out of topic ald, change to xbi, i do find it perform equally good but not as to the style i like,it is another kinds of feelings when xbi wear in, and u can get the feelings of sadness, but i do really enjoy of clear and touch vocal for Chinese pop songs.

in conclusion, i can tell u guys that i myself really hard to choose among this, that's y so many ppl in spore actually buy 2 in order to avoid the selection, both are equaly good, the mose common method to say that u like vocal take x3i, u like bass take xbi, which i felt it might not be accurate but we are forced to say so.actually x3i do perform well in low frequency(bass), just not as strong like sbi, and sbi do have a very good vocal, just not as good as x3i, so i have to say that, if i were to select this 2, i will get 2. it is really really hard to choose rclxub.gif notworthy.gif

added on svi and lbi

as promised , this is my comparison on the new lbi and svi...

alrite, let me talk about what shall i compare 1st, i will compare

x3i vs svi
x3i vs lbi

* i do not compare lbi and xbi as it is really similar, very similar, the only differences is the bass level icon_rolleyes.gif

before start, let me introduce on the new lbi and svi.

svi is the low bass version of x3i, which sound similar to etymotic, having a bright signature, but clear seperation.
lbi is the low bass version of xbi, having less bass than xbi, but still retained its dark/cool signatures.

x3i and svi.

i do not going to compare it songs by songs as to the proper review format, but i will tell on general, what is the differences, i felt this shall be more appropriate as they sound is pretty similar, it is not like an apple and oranges, so i dont think i need to tell any single details for both. All rite, the svi is basically low bass of x3i, having the same little laid back signatures, with the new svi, i felt it similar to etymotic signatures, which give u clearer separations than x3i, with less but accurate bass. but most of us shall forsee that bright signature doesn't give lively involvement, i do have to admit so but to be honest, it give a real, and accurate involvement rather than bass bumping. svi having better separation, this might resulted as remove of low frequency distortion. without focus on low freq, it giving clear vocal(clearer breath sounding), and greater drum impact. svi giving greater details but i shall say, it is the mind sets problem, coz when bass is focus, some mid-range details shall be ignored but when bass isnt focus, u could actually pick up all the details easily. it is a good start for entry level guys, who keen to furhter their purchases on etymotic, u can get that and try how was the signature, who know somebody might love that after that, it is more neutral, the bass is accurate, when it is not there, u wont listen any bass, i shall sound abit like IM716. svi do sound good after adding an amp, it is more obvious when compared to x3i but provided the amp is good enuf to push this easy drive IEM. it make more airy, rounded bass and warm down the signature by adding my RA The Secret thumbup.gif

x3i vs lbi
allrite guys, i will say, lbi is equally good when compare to x3i, as being read so many review, i assume that u guys understand how xbi sound, it is dark/cool signatures, same as lbi, it is same dark and cool, it is more on forward signatures, which give u super involvement feels as darken sound. it suit to listen on hi-fi songs as for darker feelings. Back to the topic, when it compare to x3i, on the bass level, i shall say still lbi is one small little tiny step up from x3i, it is not as strong as xbi, but the bass level is more than enuf for most of the users. lbi having a clear forward sound, with less focus treble, meaning less digital but more analog sounds. it give u different kinds of feelings when u listen on x3i and lbi, i will not conclude which is good, which is bad, but i clearly have to tell u guys, it is honda and toyota, it is really hard to tell , which is good, as it greatly depend on ur preferences. as for x3i, i think i do not talk much on that, as u can refer that on the sales record and customer feedbacks. When i done all this comparison, i shall always remind u guys, when i said xbi or lbi bass good, i do not implied that x3i bass lousy, no bass. I don't know why most of the users always make assumption that x3i having a low or lousy bass. but as for non-basshead users, x3i confirmed to have enuf bass for you. Most of the customer asking me that, how come x3i having this good bass.......so , pls do not assume that....xbi/lbi good in bass, x3i lousy in bass.... wink.gif

this is the bass level ranking
xbi>Lbi>x3i>svi

thks for ur time.

Wala, if you're free can you briefly compare the sound signature of those IEM with recabled ksc75 and mylarone?

Cause already got a pair of those two phones, don't wanna get something that ends up with the same sound signature.

m not sure if reading the reviews is doing the psycho but i feel the x3i is sounding warmer and soothing as it burns in..compared to the 1st impressions of muddy bass, harsh highs and messy soundstage...
excellent comfort and sound isolation compared to my Sony IEMs, that came with the 'w' SEs..

Got my mylar X3i. Didn't like the sound initially as the bass is a bit heavy to me. But after hours of burning the clarity become better, while the bass is still strong... Great pair of IEMs.
I used it with a C&C box +..the sound's great!

Is RM165 for x3i
and RM170 for xbi,

The bulk is here
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/559881

I'm also getting 1 soon, need to audition see which 1 suits me more and preferable different sound signature from the phones I have.

after reading the review i still cant decide on which to get.. afraid of getting x3i would make listening pop songs generate fatigue on my ears.. and unsure if the xbi could handle vocal musics as well as the x3i.. unsure.gif

H3ll it wont generate fatigue. Vocals are good in x3i. XBi just added more bass in it.

Thanks for yuheng spending his time with me. Guess right now I kinda like to listen to vocals more, x3i gave me a more comfortable sound.

x3i kinda suitable for my everyday usage.

Quite hard to get a comfortable fit for the double flanges on my right ear.

yuheng, the blue doors ahead, F.I.R song that u let me listen is also in FLAC? I got that album too but never even listen finish once tongue.gif

Hi to all , jst drop by here to said thanks to u ,yuheng ..
I'm actually went to yuheng's house to test the new series of mylar 3 last friday.. Ermm..from a beginner's point of view, wat i can said about X3i and XBi is , the sounds was really impress me ... There's really a much more improvement from previous series ..(yuheng : is it becoz its passed through the IBASO brows.gif brows.gif )I do compare with my current mylar3 , i personally vote for the X3i although it jst a few hours burned according to yuheng. For a more details description , i can't really talk much from a beginner position , let the pros do talk ..1 new thing that i jst learned from yuheng is how to hears the sounds's impaction.. nod.gif
Lastly , wat can i assured to potential buyer is , any improvement from previous mylar rclxub.gif ?? Ya [COLOR=purple], it really does .. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif
Now still thinking whether
1) get the Xbi
2) sell of my current mylar3 and get the X3i
3) MS1 drool.gif
4) Don do anything , and try to saved up for more high-end stuff brows.gif drool.gif drool.gif

Just got my X3i from yuheng this morning at KL Sentral...
Thanks bro and also paise because you have to travel from Sunway to KL Sentral only to meet me... thumbup.gif
I'm using this X3i for portable and it is much much more better than the bundled ipod earphones (definitely)...

What I want to talk to all of you guys here (especially those of you who never meet yuheng before) is yuheng is really a friendly guy... rclxms.gif
If you want to buy any headphones earphones stuff just find him...
He will recommend something that will not exceed your budget (not like salesman outside who always recommend you the one that can earn the most commission)
or how to improve your existing rig...
He will share everything that he know with you and teach you how to appreciate music...

Thanks again yuheng and hopefully can meet you soon...
If I'm free, I'll go Sunway find you...to get poisoned... tongue.gif

I'm not the kind of review guy, I only know whether I like the earphones or not.
That day meet yuheng and he really teach me much about how to rate an earphone.

Since I can't do review, might as well let the photo do the job.

O.o after 30hours of burn in my xbi bass has calm down alot... not like the 1st time when I tried it keep come out POM POM sound lol

The vocals and details starts showing through and like it has been in harmony with the bass. But the bass itself is still the highlights of the songs i've been listening to.

Getting used to xbi sound already biggrin.gif koss kcs75 collecting dust on the table.

@@ I still don't have any idea how to use the cable wrapper lol

Aiya, bro, the old XB has the bass suitable for me. Until now I still keep it. The bass not too overpowering for my ears.

This might be your fit isnt correct, and some songs are ACTUALLY UNBALANCED recorded. Revealing earphones has its bad too because it reveal too much secrets.

try this
Pull the back side of ur ear, place the IEM in, let go ur hand, this is teh only way to get a good fits, as the double flanges is soft, hardly pushing in will not fit in tongue.gif

i think i put in correctly. juz a feeling that double flanges might have absorbed a lil bit more sound than the normal flanges. but double flanges isolate the environment noise better tongue.gif

right, this is my first pair of IEMs.
i can also hear these hissing noises when i plug x3i into my laptop. i checked, they're called sibilance. i didn't notice beforehand (had been burning in right now totaling < 50 hrs). otherwise they're working quite well/ improving i must say.

i don't have a portable rig (i don't listen to music on the go + can't afford 'em, what's the point?) so i can't test these on other devices to tell if there's any difference. is this normal occurrence for IEMs? is there a way to reduce the level of sibilance when i listen to the songs? it does get *very* annoying for certain songs i listen to.

also about the tips, are the tips walabies/ yuheng selling to fit the mylars of superior quality than the ones which came w/ the package?

Most of the time it could be your badly encoded mp3s. If you want I can give you high quality tracks.

nah, i ripped them in flac format, and most tracks i downloaded are at least 192kbps.
i bumped the volume up to the max w/o any music playing and there's definitely hissing noises on the background. i wonder if it could be my laptop.
when i listen to ambient stuff the noises really get in the way

hi guys, tat is common to IEM or either earbud, normally the low ohm IEM/earbud will have more significant feels which compare to higher end one , it is due to the high gain/curent out from the on board sound card biggrin.gif

If the double flange doesnt suits you I think it's soft flex time...
Other colours will be white, and ruby.
I will try to ask.
He isn't back yet. Yours XBi or X3i?

weird but i feel its lacking the wee bit of treble compared to my X3 lol...

XBi belongs to my fren nicely burned in 100 hours +- lol....

so if i'm gonna get myself a pair of earphones for music listening will definitely be the x3i

while for techno and movies/games XBi FTW lol...

Wait I check the ruby ones. It's just a colour difference. For me the new X3i soft flex is comfortable.

You guys use amp for your x3i? If so i want to ask is it suitable to pair with a cheap amp like LDM+?

How long is the x3i cable?

How does the treble, bass and soundstage of x3i compare to recabled KSC75?

hmm with this X3i there is a louder background noise compared to my previous earphone.

Could it be due to my 128kbps mp3 ? doh.gif

Shud be mate, my 128 became inadequate after getting my Aurilium sound card and Z5500D. Really could hear all the hiss, pops and crackles.

But those i ripped myself to 128 last time didnt have noise tho, just that not as clear and sweet as when i played the CD itself. CD is still the best. smile.gif

btw, just curious to know so ill repost my question lol...

mylar is low ohm headphone, mean it need no any amp to drive, add in some amp might give it inverse effect, but u might find some good amp which able to drive it well...

i think LDM is not a good option to pair with mylar biggrin.gif

ok, guys...........
i always answer this question....

but i have to say 1st, this is not an appropriate question, when u come to hi-fi stuff..things always come to which one u prefer, not which one is good, imagine i ask u compact car vs 4wd car, which one is good????

ok, let me give some intro on both,

ksc75 having fantastic transparency. with very much extension of bass...biggrin.gif
mylar having better isolation, hence much more details, and better control on vocal.. biggrin.gif
in term of soundstage, both having similar soundstage imho biggrin.gif

who wan to compare it, cna come over my place after January tongue.gif

louder background is due to the higher gain from ur sources, mean ur sources high elec out....
try some lossless songs as well

cable is around 1.3m, and it doesnt suit LDM as it is not a good synergy

I am using it ampless or Ibasso internal amp. Actually it runs good without an amp. LDM not really synergize with X3i sorry. The cable is VERY long. That's why it has a cable manager there in the package.

Here is my comparison between mylar X3 and X3i.
Yes, bass is definately stronger than original x3. But the bass is not tight and deep. A bit muddy to my liking. The X3i had better Detail, separation also good and wider soundstage as well.
Sound isolation is definately more better with double flange. Very good for rather noisy surroundin like crowded area, on airplane. Conclusion, a well worthy upgrade from original x3. smile.gif

Depends how you handle them, If normal use I can say it could last more than half a year , but don't be too harsh on the wires biggrin.gif coz its very thin

But the Mylar itself is very light , don't have to worry if fall down

Mine has been half a year of more. Just be a little careful with the wires. That would be sufficient. Don't tug the cables. That's all...

I have those cable wrappers. They seem to mess up the wires when uncoil it. Use the hard case, it's good smile.gif

there's a lot of difference bro... i tested a unburned one... if listening for a while then i think ok.. but if u wanna listen for a long time u might get a headache.. but then again this is a very subjective matter which differs for different ppl... so best thing to do is free one sunday n take a long trip to yuheng's place.. it's worthit... plus u might get poisoned wif someother stuff too...

You can try the XBi, or jack up your budget, get the followings: Super.fi.5.EB or Beyer Dynamics DTX50.
Bassy stuffs.

If you are listening to many metal songs then get the XBi. X3i certainly not lack of bass.

there will be alot of review from spore, US, Malaysia and Indonesia biggrin.gif

this is a so called "new" brand , and this brand do not keen to advertise, so it is just a good product sharing in audiophiles society, not towards selling here and there to the public biggrin.gif

Yes. Just on some music at a comfortable level for your ears and then just leave it there.

I did 24~48 hours and its good enough.

Burn in some more, and the bass will come back again, although much more controlled and tighter, but still a bit too much.

The burn in process I went through with the bass was:
Too much, uncontrolled flabby bass --> Too little, but tighter --> Alot less than first but still a bit too much, much more controlled and tighter. biggrin.gif

Any idea how long i should burn it in?

burn in will help on its sound, biggrin.gif

if the flange fit ur ears correctly, then u'll have a nice bass sound. pick a suitable flange.

anyway, juz now i accidentally dipped my x3i into my coffee doh.gif luckily i realize and pull it out quick tongue.gif

Mid sleeve is the medium-sized sleeve right? Currently using that one and it fits very well smile.gif

Was hoping to try out the bi-flangle as well. Seems like a good one. Anyway, just hoping the bass will improve cause as off current, my X3 is having better bass than the X3i though. But of course, the X3 is fully burned in. smile.gif

Just wondering there bro,

Whats the advantages of the Bi-Flangle compared to the normal one? I tested it just now after 2 days of burned in, bass is getting better and its very nice now. Should be able to perform better after more time of burn in. Definitely more bassy than the X3. Wayyyy more bassy. smile.gif

Bi flange are for those who has deep ear canal and/or expose to extreme noisy environment. Better isolation sometimes.

if the coffee did goes in. the voice coil and the metal body inside the driver will rust..
i have seen that.. copper rust.
because i throw one of my mx300 earphone in washing machine to wash. after that still can use.
but after 2 month, canot use already as the things start to rust.

hi peeps. glad to join the mylar side as i just bought 1 from yuheng (great seller).

would like to ask does excessive sound affect the earphones? i just brought my xbi over to sepang last week. and i'm wearing it as my ear plugs without turning on my mp3 player. the engine roar is too loud.

after that, the sound coming from the earphone seems to be alot lack of bass.. it was so indifferent with last time i used it.

Are you confirm it lack a lot of bass? We might need to look into your X3i.
According the head-fiers, the burn in process will fluctuate how the earphone sound during the process. Wait till it stable first then tell us the conclusion.

I did the same. But no, the isolation was not good enough to suppress the roaring F1 engine sound. Had to change to the yellow foamies. Still, it was loud but bearable.
No, it should not damage your mylar. icycokes, better get your hearing checked.

thx for the prompt reply. well i changed the ear buds to a bigger sized 1 and suprisingly the bass come back!.. guess my ear hole getting bigger? haha, maybe f1 is just too loud. the yellow thingy ear plug wasn't that comfortable.. thats why i use the mylar instead. still can isolate some sound lah.. i saw quite alot of ppl wearing nothing!

Got my new x3i finally! Yay! BUT...i don't like the biflanges that come with it lar yuheng.....the etys you sold me before were much nicer...not so lembik and more sound isolating! Hehe...other than that not much complaints, sound is good, but seems to be slightly more biased to the blue earbud.

The tips will make a lot of differences. Don't look down on the tips. Imbalance sounding or bass lost are mostly due to improper isolation...

what's your source 1st of all?
what format of audio are u listening to?
where u get your songs from? [Download? ripped from original disc?]

most of the case is cause by the sound quality from the music[i mean the recording is bad].
other case is download the bad compressed audio.

as promised , this is my comparison on the new lbi and svi...

alrite, let me talk about what shall i compare 1st, i will compare

x3i vs svi

I’ve burn-in my svi for more than 60 hours now and I’m quite impressed with its sound separation and detail. Although I can’t get even half of the oomph factor like er6i, but at some point the separation and clarity are quite similar especially for low bass and acoustic music. My ears are less fatigue now and of course there’s no more heavy bass like my Super.fi.5.EB
