I just laugh at this type of news...
It's hard to stop piracy in Malaysia when 'almost' everyone has the same mindset. No wonder game developers aren't looking at Malaysia as a true 'gaming country' when there are so many talented players...
Let me see... I know about 5-6 places selling pirated games... err 3 places I know sells 100% original games (TSB, PCgame.com.my, Gamers' Hideout). One of the pirated shops was raided. The shop was closed for almost a week and then... BAM! They opened again as if nothing happens.
The only way to stop piracy - - reduce the price (which won't happen).
Localised version is nice, but most of us want the 'original untouched' boxed version.
Huh... don't get me started on "Malaysia's No.1 Broadband Service Provider"... Cevat Yerli/Peter Molyneux/John Carmack/Will Wright should pay a visit to this country to 'see the potential' and 'how much is wasted'...
Note : Malaysia is not the only country with this problem...
They can always mark the manual/packaging/disc "not for sale outside malaysia" or something and let the bits and bytes inside untouched.
But seriously.. audio CD's pricing needs to come down to the region of cassette tape pricing these days.
