Mostly related to firmware, just go flash the firmware lo RM30 is really worth it. Mine also AP and go flashed, it's working very well. Oh yeah guys if you want to check if your AP set is original Nokia phone with correct IMEI, try register at My Nokia, it should identify yours is a N95 8GB with just IMEI numbers.
*
Hmm.. I Wonder If You Can Save That RM 30 By Changing The Product Code To The APAC And Update/Reinstall The Firmware With Nokia Software Updater On Your Own... Your AP Warranty Will Still Void If You Flash A Different Region Of Firmware Into It.. (Unless Your Product Code Remains The Same)... Well, I'm Not Too Sure When It Comes To AP Set Warranty, Just A Suggestion Though...

QUOTE(minde @ Nov 28 2007, 07:07 PM)
hey  , how come my AP N95 got the word TIM at the back?
*
Your AP Set Has Tattoo.. The Word "TIM" Is A Network Operator In Other Country.. There Are AP Sets Without Tattoo Too.. smile.gif

RM...200??? Water set also not so cheap leh... shocking.gif

Added on November 28, 2007, 8:35 pmOh nevermind, I read your story at the regular N95 thread...That's sad... sad.gif
*
Yea, Very Sad Indeed.. So It Should Be "N95-1 + RM200" smile.gif

You can do that on your own, but have to accept the broken new firmware (no dictionary lol). Not sure if it'll be success I don't have much experience so RM30 to me is worth it. smile.gif

FYI, there is no differences between the firmware that you get through NSU and the one you get from Nokia service centre and the successful rate is 100% if your phone is original and you don't screw up the updating process. I wouldn't waste the 30 bucks if I were you.

Well, you can do yourself thru NSU of course and it's not hard, just follow thru the instructions. But that is if you're updating it normally and your product code has available updates. But like most of the AP set cases, especially the one that is tagged with a particular telco OR product code is not from Malaysia OR your current firmware is not for Malaysia/Singapore (which means you don't have English, Malay & Chinese language)... you first need to change your product code to the one in Malaysia before you can update the latest firmware that is currently available.

It looks simple enough tho, with the Nemesis Service Suite BUT to go through the hassle especially if you never done it before, then I think that RM30 is worth it lor.
But if you buy authorised set, it's not worth to pay RM30 la since you can update the firmware without much hassle with NSU smile.gif IMHO.

Some more the payment is only for 1 time so why not? wink.gif

And, authorized set no need to reinstall firmware... tongue.gif

Have to install the Nokia Software Updater, download it via Nokia website. Then connect your phone via USB cable and set it to General profile. Then follow on screen instruction...

Wait for newer firmware first cause the current new one not worth the update.

I've discovered something really funny about the 3.5mm connector...I found out there's problem with the detection of the connector as it sometimes automatically set to TV out or the remote control not working if not insert properly. Some variation and results as below:

1. When you jack in the connector slowly, certain connectors will results in automatically switch TV out.

2. When slowly jack in the remote control, sometimes it'll provide 3 options and sometimes it'll provide 4 options (the extra one is the "headset").

3. If the remote control doesn't jack in quickly before the prompt of the options, the remote function will not work when options pop'ed up.

By the way I find the headphone I have the connector is a little thicker than normal and that connector will sometimes give the automatic set to TV out thing...

All this happened all in a sudden, I'm not sure why. Does this happened to you too?

Added on November 29, 2007, 3:00 amAfter some googling apparently the remote control seems to have a battery inside which will send signal to the phone and tell the phone a remote control is insert. I tried with the TV cable to matter how fast/slow I insert it'll sure ask for options. But why the my headphone giving me the automatic switch to TV out really puzzled me, it's not like the headphone has ID or signature? rclxub.gif

Added on November 29, 2007, 3:25 amNow it seems like whenever I try to insert the remote control it'll prompt me 4 options but when I choose headset it'll still switch to headphone, which seems like a firmware bug to me...Oh well guess I'll have to insert the remote control a little quicker if I want to use it... rclxub.gif

I think when insert too slow, the connector only detect 2 area (watch the mini jack got 2 or 3 lines) and didn't detect the headset signal then only give you 3 options lo. But still if you plug the headset until prompt 4 options, and insert the headset fully then choose headset option (the remote control has no headphone connected), the control will also work too but hoh the sound will still play from the speaker but only at tiny volume no matter how you adjust the volume. Very strange...

But then I try to plug the jack at minimum speed if using the headset, scare too hardcore then the jack will become loosen pretty quickly. But I think with the stupid thick jack of my headphone pretty much loosen up the spring a bit... doh.gif ddww did you find the 3.5mm jack tight/moderate/loose with the original headset? Mine is only moderate tightness but I prefer something a little more tighter... ohmy.gif

EDIT: Hmm nevermind I think it's pretty healthy for now cause I can lift the phone up by just holding the remote control when the the headset is connected... blush.gif

Added on November 29, 2007, 8:26 amminde - it's normal that the IMEI doesn't match the box for an AP set. Mine also like that, but the IMEI on the phone appears to be original Nokia phone and can be registered on My Nokia with the correct model identified.
