CC still safer. At least the bank will refund u.

If DC, good luck. May take months to resolve.

That's why, I use a prepaid DC to pay for everything after reloading from a bank CC or DC. Anything happen, can resolve online and almost immediately.

Call them inform unauthorized transaction. They will put it under dispute and cancel your card then send u a replacement. The investigation usually 1 month, need to keep track see lor.

I don’t have recommendation. But free reputable ones probably just bitdefender and kaspersky. And malwarebytes for scanning. They are still quite annoying when you need to bypass something. Windows defender is the most common av out there, every hacker first thing will try to break that one. But actually 99% of the time I think is just running pirate shady software.

also called the Maybank’s Fraud Hotline (24 hours a day): +603 5891 4744 to permanently block the card
they will send the new card to home address
but i still need to go to nearest branch to fill the dispute form to get the refund..

I've also experienced the same last time, for Maybank debit card.

For the refund part, no need to go to branch to fill up the dispute form. You can fill up the form online and email them directly along with your proof and the reference number given by the Maybank Hotline

For my case last time, I get refund within 1 month, but it depends on case by case basis, some cases might take longer.

i also kena couple days ago
but mine was billed in myr and it was some paypal stuff
guessing some website has the pay via paypal button and they choose card method and put my card details in or something

called maybank they said just fill the dispute form digitally and email then can already

then they also told me to NOT pay the full balance i.e. i spend Rm500 but the dispute amount is RM100, only pay RM400

after they process my dispute (up to 90days?????) then they will refund me the late charge and whatnot

sounds very much like a hassle and macam will hit my credit score or make more trouble for me.

worth it to follow that advice or just pay in full and hope they refund the dispute amount once they done with their investigation?

i sked if i pay the full statment amount means i 'agree' to the amount including the dispute amount and they will take it as a technicality and reject the dispute since i 'agreed' to pay it

this only happened once i purchase something online from a 'reputable' malaysian store. still kinda pissed about it consindering its a malaysian store but who knows maybe its not them but they do have the paypal button on their website......

Any credit card will have this issue. Scammers brute force the credit card 16 digit or number and try the randomly try the CVV. Any card that match will be drain for buying ads be it Facebook or Google. Nothing with being hacked.

the thing is i received a tac request the night before the incident happen
and i click reject
then the next morning while i was doom scrolling i suddenly got the notification from the app saying i spent the amount

immediately kill switch it and call maybank

so idk la

it triggered the secure2u on the first time but the 2nd time it just went through

You will get your money back, I have same experience few months ago, I also open similar tered but my case is debit card. Lodge a police report, go maybank file a dispute form and have to scan and email yourself to dispute department. I got my money back when I already give up hope but suddenly money returned

It’s not too hard to implement a mechanism in the app like allowed currencies with default set to MYR only. This would prevent like 90% of fraud cases.

I only see 1 app that implements this, and it’s not a bank or local.

The main problem is with credit card charges (in some other foreign countries) still allows charges to go through with just the cc and cvc number than can be brute forced multiple times. If all cards charges requires MFA or TAC before allowing the transaction to go through I believe such cases will go down drastically (until the evil ones find the next loophole).

Emm,... NO bro,... the Debit Card, once charged, there is no reversal. Funds are immediately withdrawn.

For transactions which 'might give rise to a possible unauthorised withdrawal in future', use ONLY Credit cards.

Yeah, just sharing here : I experienced something similar a few mths ago when buying airtickets with my Debit Card from Lufthansa and Air Serbia. The first transaction will need authorization to approve it, followed by a second transaction that just went through on its own W/O any authorization.

Hence, I now use ONLY Credit Cards to buy airtickets from some European airlines.

Point being : sometimes,.... transactions can be 'forced through' without a tac or authorization action.

Best defense is still to lower the transaction limit.

last time mine cc kena after I used it to enter premium lounge in KLIA2 when going to Melbourne. Card kena until max when I was in AUS. Was using AUS sim card so I did not received any transaction SMS.

Called sotong bank to dispute and received full refund. It was fraudulent transaction for FB ads.

KLIA1 premium lounge they will do the transaction with the cc terminal openly, on top of the table counter.

but

KLIA2 they do the transaction behind the counter which I find a bit sus....

Just download the form from the bank’s website, fill in all the details, and email it back to them. It took them around 15 days to refund me, but maybe that’s because the amount was small.

Yes, you are right. My wife told me the lady took the card from her hand and brought the card underneath the ctr to tap. But I'm not sure which terminal it was at. I will chk with her and revert !
