OEM battery so laoya 1 year already kaput?

Obviously tat person is not tow truck expert. Should have consult with bmw/merc owners before whine n rant

Based on experience, most batteries can last maximum around 1 1/2 years only. Then sure kaput.

Unless yours is conti with the battery location at the boot and the original OEM battery from Germany. Then usually can last 3 to 4 years.

My expectations for a called tow truck to arrive is at least 2 hours

Waited 1.5hrs for plus highway tow truck
Tow out to the next exit, left the car there then use another colleagues' car to continue to the journey

Later back and bring the car to workshop, the car need full engine change

BMW easily 5 years lol. Battery at the back, no direct heat from engine bay. Also the positioning (center back) help with car overall handling dynamics.

20km not enough to charge? 20 minutes of 60kmh not enough to charge? how far do you need to drive?

Using X70's DIN75 size as reference.

It'd normally take a 12V charger, 3-4 hours to charge it from 50% to above 90%.

So I always advice ppl to have a 12V charger at home, every 6 months, use it to charge the car battery to above 90%. The battery can easily last over 36 mths.

Had to get free recharge at SC.

The batts arrived from supplier to assembly plant in bulk.

The assembly plant (T or H or P or whatever) don't charge each & every batt to 100% before putting them into ur car.

When u receive ur car, the batt's likely at 60-70% state of charge.

Then u use ur car for short distance drive 10-20km after every ignition. That's actually not enough to bring up the SoC.

So slowly..... voltage drop below 12.5V, ur car can't start.

U jumpstarted the car, drove to battery shop, the shop told u batt kong.

U paid for a new batt, the shop took ur old batt, charge it back & later sell to someone seeking a used batt for RM100-150.

If battery weak, should not kejap takde response, then suddenly can start and then die wut? Got something short?

Not really. I once experience car suddenly dead. I restarted and it could move again and drove to nearby workshop. Lucky it was near the workshop. Tested and found out alternator was dead.

When the engine is off, chemical reaction in battery will slowly recharge the battery. I restarted the car and drove home about 1km away. I was lucky it happened not yet far away from home.The next day went to spare part shop to order the alternator. Got it replaced two days later.
