That was 13 or 14 years ago. I did asked why, but no feedback from that officer at that time. It was during my uni lawatan sambil belajar day trip to their office. Not sure whether it will still be the current plan or not if this nuclear project is a GO now.

More stupidity  from pmx. Why the hell  we need nuclear when there is palm oil biomass, solar and hydro? Clean and renewable.
Looks like this was decided time ago as the price for Russia to take the blame for mh17.
Incoming:  imported  Chernobyl 2. Which state will be the lucky one.? Hope Penang.

We are big in data Centers. We are trying to push for EV mass update

Both require big upgrade for our National Grid

Renewables are a big scam and not enviromentally friendly

Fossil fuels are price volatile, sourced from foreign sources and contribute to climate change

We invest in Gen 4 reactors and horium reactors will make our power supply ecosystem rock solid and price competetive

No Earthquake risk, no typhoon risk.

Go for nuclear. Sooner the better

Perhaps that area is currently the least population. Risk assessment point of view. Least risky compared to the rest of the locations. Again, that was when we asked 1st project ya.. So 2nd 3rd unknown...

No lah.

Ideal locations are by the sea, along the South facing Singapore and West Coat. By the sea for easier ship transport of materials and waste. Preferably adjacent to current coal plants.

So JB, Port Dickson, ,Port Klang, Lumut and Penang

advance? do you know those with nuclear reactor are having headache on how to handle the radioactive waste?
look deeper and google it and find the cost to contain the radioactive waste.
dun be stupid and woke cos of green energy.....nothing is perfect in this world

Better hope China has success with their Thorium Small Modular Reactor and Fusion-Fission Hybrid Reactor which produces far lower nuclear waste.

China Aims To Operate World’s First Hybrid Fusion-Fission Nuclear Plant By 2030

Unlike pure fusion projects such as Iter, Xinghuo will combine fusion and fission. The high-energy neutrons from fusion reactions will trigger fission in surrounding materials, increasing energy output while potentially reducing nuclear waste.

TS stupid AF.

The nuclear reactor planned for Malaysia is actually a SMR type (Go read yourself). It can bring huge benefit in terms of power security amidst rising demand. It is also very much carbon neutral, not completely, but yeah.

Build it on offshore islands. Security also safer.

Relocate any inhabitants so even if accident = no risk to inhabitants.

Large scale emergency evacuation zone is 20km. Offshore islands more than 20km from next nearest island.

Why must be on mainland?

Best is go for small modular reactors because they use passive safety, which do not require external power source or operator intervention.

Fukushima nuclear disaster happened because the backup generators were flooded by the tsunami and couldn't function to cool the reactors.
