QUOTE(SharpSword @ May 15 2025, 07:40 AM) More stupidity from pmx. Why the hell we need nuclear when there is palm oil biomass, solar and hydro? Clean and renewable. Looks like this was decided time ago as the price for Russia to take the blame for mh17. Incoming: imported Chernobyl 2. Which state will be the lucky one.? Hope Penang. QUOTE(knwong @ May 15 2025, 07:42 AM) Do you know nuclear reactor has advance so much that it is very safe to operate. Just let nuclear expert run the show https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Energy/Chi...nerator-by-2030China on track to become top nuclear power generator by 2030

QUOTE(p4n6 @ May 15 2025, 07:27 PM) Human advances by making mistakes and set new regulations and processes to ensure mistakes not repeated. Over the decades IAEA sets a lot of guidelines to ensure safety including distance like 10km radius from populated area, no fly zone, etc geographical guidelines … unsure where in Malaysia fit the guidelines but definitely not behind anyone of our house… to build nuclear reactor is not something can buy on Lazada and build, need a lot of agreement, certification, compliance and approval from local and international agencies to sign off qualifications. Even if Msia want to do also may not able to find the right place to do. Labuan got

QUOTE(smsid @ May 17 2025, 04:28 AM) They have gone full retard, Spain plan to DISMANTLE all 7 nuclear power stations by 2035, and then waste even more money by grabbing farm land from farmers to build even more of those fake green renewable energy. So everything will be expensive thanks to their retarded politicians, energy and food. Maybe they know something we don’t Remember, research journals knowledge are only limited to what’s published

The Chinese certainly know something that others don't. Hualong-1 passes final test https://glassalmanac.com/us-on-high-alert-a...ising-tensions/7 Hualong-1 reactor already operational (5 in China, 2 in Pakistan). 13 under construction. 8 more approved for construction https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hualong_One1st unit already passed 1000 days of sale operation, having generation 37 billion kwh in that time (3 years). https://news.cgtn.com/news/2025-05-15/First...ZNtMVxyE/p.htmlBolehland generates 180 billion kwh a year (of which almost half by coal). ....and China are now developing Hualong-2 which would be cheaper.

QUOTE The last nuclear reactor in Taiwan powers down tomorrow. This just exemplifies everything that went wrong with Taiwan.
The KMT were oppressive authoritarians, but they had brilliant technocrats like Sun yun-suan and KT Lee. That’s why in the 80s while Taiwan was literally the Barbie doll capital of the world (80 percent made here IIRC) it was also running on 50+% nuclear power and establishing a chip industry. This was back in the 80s.
Then the DPP rose and their grievances were very legitimate and their desire for democracy very honorable but we went from a govt led by engineers and technocrats to a govt led by activists and lawyers.
They saw the nuclear power plants not as critical infrastructure…but the physical manifestation of the KMT’s toxic and unnatural rule over Taiwan. They weaponized the fear of radiation and made a « nuclear free homeland » a part of their party constitution.
Even right now, when it is glaringly obvious we need the juice, they can’t find a way to back down on it. You can’t site a 5MW data center in North Taiwan we are so dry. What AI future? Yet Lai loves to drone on about how we must have « AI sovereignty ». How?
Smart at politics, retarded in governance. I fear if the DPP continue to hold power, Taiwan is just going to turn into the Philippines.
People forget…at one point the Philippines was more prosperous than Taiwan. People went THERE to find their pot of gold the way the Filipinos come here now, although not in such numbers.
The Philippines was the US post-war Asian darling. Taiwan still in grinding poverty. Our girls made their beds as domestic help, although we also had the option of opening little shops and such. The tables didn’t turn until Taiwan’s economic miracle in the 80/90s.
The DPP had so much handed to them that they seem determined to destroy. Meanwhile, all they seem to be good for is importing wokey-woke DEI concepts and copying the American playbook to weaponize the constititional court. Rainbow Boba Democracy!
That’s why even though I love Taiwan, I’m going start calling it Retard Island because turning off ready-built nuclear when you’re vulnerable to a blockade and short power anyhow is the peak of retardation.
And I’ll keep calling it Retard Island until the Retardation ceases.
