Because of the horrible routing, I considered taking Allo as my backup fibre plan while I serve Unifi's contract for another 18 months.
My area is covered by both Allo and Unifi's infra, after checking with Allo's CS they told me it is impossible for customer to have both Unifi and Allo service in the same premise despite they are on different infra. Anyone encountered things like this before? |

Those who are using Controld DNS under Unifi and suffering from bad latency with weird host location, here you go
Hi there, We have escalated this issue to our upstream provider in Tokyo. They have confirmed that the problem involves their peering partner, AS4788, and they have reached out to that network directly to investigate. At the same time, we are exploring additional options that may help improve the situation. We will keep you updated on any developments. There is no fixed timeline for resolution since it depends on a response from the ISP side. It may also help if you contact your ISP directly to report the issue. |

QUOTE(fruitie @ Sep 18 2025, 05:07 PM) I also feel the Internet has been slow in the past two days. I always turn off the company's VPN when I use the laptop, as Reddit blocks the connection. You are still using Maxis right? VPN home I have no choice but to use the company's VPN now, and it is fast again. |

QUOTE(fruitie @ Sep 18 2025, 08:42 PM) UniFi at my sister's house in Seremban, my own house in KL is using Maxis but I don't go back there in the mean time. Last time when I was outstationing in KL, using TIME and Unifi Which one is terrible browsing websites in China The other...is constantly bad I ended up VPN back to my home's Maxis which solved ALL the issues Still have 18 months of contract to go, this is going to be painful |

QUOTE(kwss @ Sep 18 2025, 09:31 PM) The problem is more complicated than that. The one time we need Fahmi to take action...TM do not have enough capacity on their International Gateway. They have been dancing with this by using BGP to try and load balance traffic across different circuit. Whenever Cloudflare reroute KUL traffic, their PNI is rendered useless and suddenly all those traffic flows through their IGW. It's a congestion problem. Everything in TM needs an upgrade. Even their ring network do not have enough capacity in more and more places. Can someone escalate this to him... I cant tag him on twitter lah, cause my twitter is for other purpose |

QUOTE(sam240 @ Sep 26 2025, 12:11 PM) For Unifi we have username and password for the PPPoE, how about Maxis fiber? Anyone know about this? Can we request from Maxis if we want to setup our own router ? Can, it is your Maxis ID in billsorry a bit of topic from Unifi Not quite remember the format, but I think someone already commented up there ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you are a private IP user 1234567@home.maxis.com.my pwd: 12345671 (same as PPPoE username but always added a 1 in the end) when changed to public IP 1234567@public.maxis.com.my pwd: 12345671 (same as PPPoE username but always added a 1 in the end) Anything else please move to the Maxis thread, tq 1234567 being your account number/ID in the monthly bill This post has been edited by QuantumEdge: Sep 26 2025, 12:47 PM |

QUOTE(BenYeeHua @ Sep 27 2025, 09:11 AM) Not DNS issues, it is the IPv4 for my area bursted. My side is different You can see the bottleneck is route #2 which is 100.89.191.254. Ya, yesterday night strange, only v4 bursted, v6 running like nothing happen, might be something happen at the CGNAT. --- For DNS, it still depend. Like Steam, using Google DNS bring me to server without throttled by TM, while 1.1.1.1 doing the reverse. But, Google DNS kick me to HK IPv6 Aliyun, while 1.1.1.1 bring me to Malaysia IPv4 Aliyun(by not return any IPv6 address). A lot of times Google DNS doing this, a far far away IPv6 server, so... It is still kind of depend, like yesterday night, sure kick me to IPv6 solved the network issues. Ipv6 severely throttles my speed in the night with 30-40% PL The moment I switched to ipv4, full speed zero PL with normal ping(14ms...still horrible tbh) Gave up trying to resolve this issue, going to rent a VPS |

QUOTE(BenYeeHua @ Sep 27 2025, 11:31 AM) packet loss are same on my side, but yesterday night was, you wanna 90% packet loss at IPv4, or 30-40% packet loss at IPv6, bad or worst only 2 choice. QUOTE(kwss @ Sep 27 2025, 12:56 PM) Gonna come in handy when Fakmi is trying to make all social media companies use MyDigital ID for Malaysian. In the future maybe all IP address from Malaysia will require this while other country's IP don't. ![]() ![]() |
