Recently quite a few Malaysians joining McDermott Qatar. I heard this is due to restriction placed on whole Qatar for South Asian nationality on Work Permit allocation.

my manager told me even Malaysian with Indian name will be hard to get permit approved as well.

I heard this as well. It is prudent to diversify their expat nationalities instead of just relying on India only. DEI?

I think more than 70% of the country immigrant is of indian ethnicity. Not being racist but everyone should have equal opportunity.

Qatari doesnt take up job as contractor anyway wink.gif

Bumi Armada is going on a hiring spree for multiple short-term Senior Engineering roles in the following disciplines:

Marine
Technical Safety
Structural
Project
Mechanical
Electrical
Commissioning

I wonder what's cooking there. Most likely given the short-term nature and they are looking for people with FPSO experience, it seems like they're working on a paid FEED. Is it for Tuna or Tangkulo or something in the North Sea (Cambo) or something else entirely?

I've seen multiple LinkedIn posts of Orsted people in KL announcing job searches due to retrenchment/reorgs.
Surprising since they even announced an office expansion about a year ago.

yes the business badly affected this year.. Rumors due to Donald Trump - wind energy is affected.

Bumi is definitely chasing Tangkulo, which - I understand - will be a parallel paid FEED leading to the bigger prize.

Do the major O&G company practices hybrid working system? Seems like Shell employees enjoy such benefit of working from home 2-3 days a week.

Seems you're on the money, they're facing off against Yinson. Any idea if Yinson really has the appetite and capacity? Seems like a lot of project start ups recently.

Petronas first round MSS completed, anyone know anybody impacted? I saw people posting on social media they took "voluntary early retirement", how creative!

Yinson management stand by their model of having three FPSO jobs on the go at the time. Last I heard was that they were optimistic re Tangkulo

Thanks for the update. Yinson is apparently out of the running for poss replacement for Kikeh FPSO - unsure how long Y might want to wait if the Tangkulo tender becomes prolonged...

Updated - a colleague said he thinks both Yinson and Bumi Armada have been issued with limited notices to proceed on Tangkulo FPSO
