QUOTE(ihm11 @ Nov 19 2024, 08:45 AM) frequent on/off means frequent thermal expansion/contraction in the components of the circuitry which leads to microscopic fissures in said components eventually leading to their premature failure huh?????you ammoshaft min 10x daily? Even 365 days x 10 times, the fan components circuitry flipping about 3650 times which and by today worlds standards, the fan should not suffered failure. |

QUOTE(Modasatan @ Nov 19 2024, 08:28 AM) my toilet's exhaust fan went kaput when i tried to switched on this morning, i switched on for about 1 or 2 hours daily after pangsai daily, but the other exhaust fan bought same time, same brand are running 24H daily still going strong in my kitchen... this geos same with my LED ceiling lighting too, frequently turn on and off the light or the exhaust fan will shorten the life of it? what is the reason behind? Almost all new ceiling fans these days are DC type. The quality of electronic components in DC type fans, or possibly lack of or poor over-voltage protection are the culprit. In the old days, ceiling fans are mainly AC type. |

To add on:
These days, "economically-priced" ceiling fans' blades are made of fiber/plastic. In the old days, all ceiling fans' blades are made of metal. |
