my toilet's exhaust fan went kaput when i tried to switched on this morning, i switched on for about 1 or 2 hours daily after pangsai daily, but the other exhaust fan bought same time, same brand are running 24H daily still going strong in my kitchen... this geos same with my LED ceiling lighting too, frequently turn on and off the light or the exhaust fan will shorten the life of it? what is the reason behind?

to prevent the moisture goes into the living room... and to prevent kitchen's smells slipped into living room too... my kitchen are heavily used, so it has certain smell even if i am not using/cooking... so i put an exhaust fan to keep the smell and moisture away...

Frequent ON/OFF can shorthen the lifespan. But all very depend on the lifespan design.

Mechanical start/stop shock will wear and tear some portion.

Same with electronic/ electrical. Switching produce ark which is a high surge voltage that can damage component. Ark is cause by carbon built up at the contact in the switch.

1st Change the capacitor. Cheapest solution. Capacitor probably cause you less then RM10. But if it is remote control type, few capacitor need to change.

2nd the bearing.

Too much job? Chnage the whole fan lor.

I wonder if the stinky air from toilet caused degradation of the exhaust fan's components.

frequent on/off means frequent thermal expansion/contraction in the components of the circuitry which leads to microscopic fissures in said components eventually leading to their premature failure
