QUOTE(shyan90's @ Apr 30 2025, 10:28 AM) Any 1 know that the minimum requirement for application run in external storage? 10gbps would be enough? I'm also using 40Gbps enclosure. Acasis enclosure with Adata SX8200 Pro. Got this back in 2021. I did some speed tests. It doesn't reach 40Gbps. More info here:https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...entry99759788 Also have a 10Gbps Orico but have only tested it with a 256GB SSD. Speeds seems slow. https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...ost&p=110499693 |

Just tested WD SN850X 2TB SSD in Acasis USB4/TBT3 enclosure on the mbam4. Good speeds. Same results with included tbt3 cable and Orico USB4 cable.
Not sure if getting a tbt4 enclosure will make things any faster. ![]() ![]() |

My Orico 10Gbps is Realtek RTL9210. This post has been edited by soonwai: Apr 30 2025, 11:04 PM |

Plenty of speed and runs cool. I even boot macOS on 10gbps external SSD. Currently using 2230 SSD. 40Gbps surely is fast but also will get warm and hot to touch depending on your environment. The SSD's will disconnect itself when its overheat. This post has been edited by firdausbhari: May 26 2025, 03:53 PM |

QUOTE(shyan90's @ May 27 2025, 11:09 AM) the culprit for overheat is the chipset. USB4 ASMedia or Intel JH can get quite hot for long run. Your SSD can operate up to 85c. But when your overall PCB gets hot, it will affect the SSD as well.Every 10gbps enclosure runs cool nevertheless. Please do research before jumping to conclusion.
