Certainly am waiting on the Nexis. If there's a facelift Ativa, good news. I can wait another year before making my choice.

Considering your requirements, why not get an EV? Perfect for town and occasional outstation trips..
I'm retired too and had an Ativa for 18 months... Changed to MG4 in April and can't be happier...
The Ativa is great value but be aware of a few things..
1. Need to get used to waiting 2.5-3 hrs for service
2. Start stop button n dashcam started having problems... Of course replaced under warranty but u have to go through wait times again... Once to report, another time during replacement...looking at the popularity of perodua, maybe qc going down?
3. Started to feel vibration from the 3 pot after 15-16 months.. Will it get worse?
4.Have they settled the windscreen? .. Nightmare to drive behind lorries especially on the Elite... Worried if stone will smash my windscreen...

My Mg4 costs 7-8sen per km vs 16sen for Ativa... Service every 12 months or 24k km, minimal charges, Ativa every 6 months, 10k km..
Range anxiety? Maybe if you make 400km trips very often... I do day trips melaka kl 2-3x per month.... Charge full the night before in my house... Stop at Petronas rnr seremban on the way back, topup 28% to 50% in 10 mins, cost me RM15.... Reach home still got 27%.... Less tired compared to in the Ativa, even wife says so... It's a C segment vs A segment Ativa
Used to drive1800-2000 km per month in Ativa, now 2300-2500km...always finding excuse to drive..
ACC on highway miles better because of the instant torque and will continue even after u come to complete stop.. Ativa ACC disengages below 50kmh...
Instant torque just makes it easier getting out of junctions so perfect around town..
OPD... Nah this one you just have to try.. Easier on the ankles and prolongs your brake pad life.. Don't think I'll ever go back to a car without this..

Of course I miss
1. the higher seating position making getting in and out of the car easier
2. No BSM, front sensors and reverse cam... My Mg4 std don't have but the lux has it

Maybe can wait for Proton EV also..

Anyway, this is my experience... Put aside what you heard from all the Experts about EVs and go talk to real owners... Go for a real test drive
then make your decision.. It will be eye opening..

MG4 over 100K? Thats an additional 30K budget over Ativa AV or over 40% increase. Plenty of other options in that price bracket.

Any idea if P1 or P2 EVs be priced below 100K?
Thinking of getting a small EV with 500km range on the newer LFP batteries used by models like Dolphin. Preferbly with 8 yr battery warranty.

main problem nowadays... want small cannot have range... want range cannot be small...

My 1st consideration was MG4, its still in the back burner. The car is a bit low, more sporty like. Wife has great difficulty getting in & out of low cars. So it would be rather cumbersome being the daily runaround. Just on this issue, which is a big one, since it would be everytime we wanted to go out, decided a SUV will be better suited.

Just recently am facing another issue why an EV may not be suitable. Have decided to sell my house to live in a condo & have already booked a beautiful sea view unit. Very often just lockup the house to visit children,one in Singapore & the other in Penang. As such condo dwelling is more suitable for us. Besides I'm really sick of maintaining my garden at present.....
The issue now is home charging. My initial approach to the developer on this matter has not been successful. I understand wall chargers can be installed even in condo's. Presently gathering as much info as I can to approach condo management ones condo is built.

Ativa at the moment ticks all the boxes. Price & height of this vehicle are major factors. The vehicle being narrow makes parking, especially back parking, effordless. Small size yet sufficient space when seats are folded, to carry large items. I am aware of the 3 cyl rattle. For this reason am waiting on the Nexis! Dont really like the start/stop feature, will probably deactivate it.

If I cant istall a home charger at the condo, EV is definately off. Will make by choice between Ativa & Nexis.

BTW how much is regular service & ,major service on MG4? Am also considering the Neta X, which is a bit large for my purpose. This being an SUV suits my requirement.

40% extra cost is no problem for me. The question for me is it worth the additional 40%? My requirement will be purely city drive. As such EV may be better!

This will not be an issue for me. I will only use it for city drive, back home for charge. Many times at home the whole day.

Just chip in... I visited the Byd M6 launch event. The sales told me Atto 3 is running at 130k at present. 2023 Dolphin is 90 ~ 114, only white units left though. Seal dynamic is 150k.

I do agree with you that without a home charger, EV is not really practical.

Yes I got to slove this home charger issue. The good news is wall charger units are being installed at condos. There is still hope.

Apparently below 100K price is possible now. Government has placed 100K celling, protecting local auto industry. Safe & longer range batts are already available.

Altiva is a okay car but it vibrate more compare to x50. Both 3 pot engine but x50 is certainly more refine.

Nexis will only launch at lest 1 year from now if that ever happen.

Both the cars are in my list. Have tested both, of course the X50 is better with much more to offer. I'm not sure i need all those extras. The Ativa ticks all the boxes.

The 3cyl engine on both the cars is a concern. X50 engine is basically Volvo design. Ativa engine is Toyota. Both my test cars were brand new & such did not display any roughness. I understand the engineering concept on 3cyl engines, hence the vibrtion/roughness in due course of time. Going by my past experience, I have found Japs engines to be a lot more refined.

Even though u can't charge at your condo you can still charge outside and use that opportunity to spend the time wife your wife. There's a lot of place/mall to hang out while waiting for the car to be charged.

I myself planning to retire early and already decided to buy 2 door coupe for me and my wife. Already used high seating position car (MPV) for more than 10 years so feel kinda boring. Guess human will never be satisfied lol.
