Need a city drive car. Just to market and eating out purpose. Dont need to consider outstation drive. Not too big but reasonable space to carry items at the back with fold down seats. I am a retire, only me & wife.

Considering Ativa and waiting for the launch of Perodua Nexus. Am told Nexus is slightly bigger, may be more suitable. However i do like the height of the Ativa. Welcome comments. Tks!

Installment or leasing...can try kinto if want to lease Perodua or Toyota cars. Ativa seems good choice, but if for buying wet stock like fish and meat, rather have proper trunk like sedan car coz of the smell.

Where do you buy your wet food?

Mine are still fresh upon arriving back home from wet market, there is no smell 😅

SUV or Hatchbacks are fine for groceries, both wet or dry.
In addition, easier to fit bulky items like bicycles.

Rims (inches) 16-1717-1816-17

Nexus is definitely priced above Ativa as a full B-segment SUV (with higher ground clearance). Most buyers are actually waiting for the hybrid which is likely to br parked under Toyota badge possibly bringing the price over 100K.

The lower range P2 variants should remain competitive vs other brands like Honda WRV or the ridiculous DOA Hyundai Creta.

Do note that if Nexus comes with NA engine, you lose the addictive low rpm max 140Nm torque from the turbocharged Ativa perfect for city drives.

Also I couldn't get an accurate data for Nexus weight. This is important if the myvi 2nr-ve 1.5NA is used in conjunction with Daihatsu's DCVT that has a max 150Nm rating hence the engine torque cannot exceed 140Nm. Some P2 models using this engine/cvt combo
Myvi 1000kg - power ok
Alza 1150kg - 2 pax ok full load no power
Aruz 1300kg - with ancient 4AT, severely underpowered.

Living expenses is not an issue, am very comfortable. I do like new technology, so a used car does not interest me. The winner at the moment for me is actually the X50. However trying to scaldown to something smaller.

Am looking at installment, can afford $1K/month. Wet stock transportation not an issue, as quantity is always small, only me & wife. I always leave wet stock in a small container & wash it when I get home.

Yes I have decided to wait for the Nexis. Very good write up on engine & gb. It may be worth the additonal $10K!

For my choice is easy
I always choose 4 cylinder natural aspect over 3 cylinder+turbo so my choice will be the what nexis?nexus?
Because i don't like 3 cylinder and turbocharger in my personal vehicle.

Since only you and your wife , my self also married and childless, i don't need those instant torque speed from turbocharger etc like people nowadays everything also need in racing mode .

Hahaha....well said. My wife & I are senior citizens, certainly dont have the need for speed. Much more joy playing with grand children.... biggrin.gif

I do like modern technology but am not going to jump in blindly. Your right its Nexis. I like the 1.5NA engine, regarded bullet proof. The Dcvt is supposed to be much improved in performance & fc. Plesently surprised the cargo space is larger than X50!

Definitely waiting to see what this model has to offer.

Really depends on your pocket and also your family/body size.
If got cash and bigger size for sure Nexus is the more better choice. It is also knew as Yaris Cross at oversea and you can google it to see the interior & exterior design. Our local Perodua mostly just modify some minor changes, but it will be very similar.

Am comfortable up to a $100k. Have been following the Nexis closely on utube mainly. Waiting on release in Malaysia. Will give both Nexis & Ativa a close look before final decision.
However am leaning towards the Nexis. Prefer 4cylinder non turbo engine!

X50 or wait for Nexis. Ativa is already 3 years old "soon" to be facelift.

3 cylinders like in X70 when its new you cant feel much. But after XX thousand KM you can feel it.

Also, Perodua is much more cheaper to maintain in the long run and having more tech in your car can be troublesome and costly to fix too.

The wise choice is. Down to your preferences and need. If you can save, just save and use the money on something else. Like tinted etc
