I've message him as well, but no response from him too... sigh..
In another note, I'm having 2feet-by-1feet aquarium that I'm planning to use as the cage and planning to fill up the bottom 25% with saw dust/hay since they were reported to be a burrower. Anyone know roughly how long would a 60L saw dust and/or 1kg hay would last in this setup? Or is there better setup that can be recommended/suggested to me? TQ |

Hi guys, really need more information and guidance.
I'm planning to pet gerbils, a male and a female. This is my first time petting this gerbil. I will have a big(around 2 feet long) aquarium. But i am confuse, the shop owner said i can place sand inside the aquarium, the dry red sand used for gardening. He is using the sand right now with few of wood(wood for aquarium for fish) showing in his shop. I am planning to do the same as i prefer to have a natural for my gerbils. Is this ok? As i check the internet, usually people will use hay, boxes, wood etc, but i dont see anyone using sand. And he said i dont need to change or clean the bedding as the bedding is sand, so it is clean as the gerbil will wash and buried their wasting themself. Is this true? Will there be any disease or something? But the sand place in the aquarium will be a lot as for the gerbil to dig hole. Thank you. P/s: Any recomended place selling gerbils? |

I'm curious wanna see too I went to the new pet shop in SS2 mall, ground floor.Pets Family at Tmn megah last month I saw some mongolian gerbils... Pet wonderland at Mid Valley got fat tail gerbils... Low Yat Pet Store forum seller is LeonHui or something... he sell fat tail gerbils...cheaper than pet shop... Its a small pet shop but with quite a number of exotic animals. QUOTE(zazi @ Feb 22 2011, 09:52 PM) i am giving away a pair in a large tank. pls email me if you are interested. tozazi@gmail.com no charge. But actually this is me and my gf first time trying to pet a pet So we planed to raise them from when they are young and...maybe see if we both able to teach them some trick like have them come to our hands by themself But would love to adopt/buy young gerbils frm you if u have one as i prefer homebreed than from pet shop as i read that pet shop selling those inbreed etc etc... hmm not as good i think. I have just bought a 2 feet aquarium, shld be enough i think ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Guys, I went to the shop again to have some chit chat with the pet shop owner. i asked him bout the inbreed thing. Currently they have 2 young gerbils and he told me this two should be bro and sis. But he said its ok to inbreed cos this animals wont have those defact or something. But as i read n learned from the internet, the pups or next next generation might have some issue right? So he said this sunday will have 2 more young gerbils, he said maybe i can take one from each pair so it wont be bro and sis anymore... hmmm but not sure, cos it might still breed by same mom or cousin or etc.. hmm Hope to get reply on this. Thanks. |
