QUOTE(holyghost @ Dec 13 2009, 04:58 PM) as fast as they came n took our hearts away ... seems gerbil fever has gone with the wind ... no more breeder selling gerbils? am not comfortable buying from shop ... me as well. now in melaka selling quite cheap, 2 for rm 40. so is considerable. but things that scare inbreed. the owner thought i'm not a gerbils keeper, then put hand into tank, he straight away call me not to. then got one tank got pups, but then inside there got 2 adults gerbils (i think is parents), then 2 teenager gerbs. so total up there got 8 gerbils, as there got 4 just born pups. i plan to striaght away get all back, but then is from shop... scared to condition not good. QUOTE(tajukagebunshin @ Dec 15 2009, 01:46 AM) harlo all gerbil owners you have to use more bigger tank, and one thing about the height. have to be higher.Any comments on my little setup so far? Added on December 20, 2009, 2:21 amthis thread mati alrd ka? the tank lid of you will be chew off by your gerbils in no time. get a standard 1.5ft or 2ft tank, it will be better. plastic or glass tank is up for your decision. by the way, how many gerbil you keep in the tank? you in melaka? which area? i'm at mmu campus there.
to bond ar, it depends, some can success, some not. cos last time i do bond with some of my gerbils, last time i use to have around 10 plus. but then end up some fight, some not. some in the start fight, then later good, some in vice versa. and you need a lot a lot patient and time to make bonding... you know the way of bonding right? woah, you get 3 of them? which 3 you get? any picture? which trait? and i guess you get the one i want though. haha. |

sometimes clan to clan works, coz the less dominant ones will get along well, and this helps alot throughout the introductory period.. the less dominant get well and make things easier for the dominant ones..
this may be just my luck.. |

ya, ture of what you said. less dominant one will get along easier.
the dominant one, they fight like hell.... and ya, you have to identify which one is the dominant one, for that particular one, the bonding or introduction period have to be longer and frequent. holyghost, where you located, i free then go your house see lo. lolz. kelvin, how's your gerbils? still keeping and breeding? |

holy : u swap every few hours, let's say, adult in small cage and juvenile outside, then SWAP to become adult outside and juvenile inside.. force them to smell each other smell..
from my experience, almost instantly u will have an idea whether the gerbils can or cannot be grouped together.. i have used SWAP methods on TANK and TANK (two 2feet tank) and CAGE in TANK (metal cage in tank).. both works fine for me.. the idea is that when u wana do these methods, u shud clean all the stuffs.. making no more smell of the adults.. so they wont be possessive towards their territory.. if u have cleaned all, i used to use germisep to disinfect and it does removes all smell at once, then they have no more territory to be protective and aggresive.. zoe : i letgo mine when i have to move out from ukm.. the most proud time for me was when i succesfully yield spotted black, spotted agouti, spotted nutmeg.. there are also some argente, dark eye honey (deh), red eyed honey (reh), lilac, dove.. so happy.. for bout 6 months i get to have them.. this was the result of going here n there to get colourful genes and ventures into breeding.. my first gerbils are agouti.. the male super tame, female super cute and she adopts babies from others like her own.. so surprise! |

holyghost > if you wan faster, try like kelvin said, do it in few ours. it would be help a lot if like that.
since yours might be fighting, so i guess that you need more and more time in hte introdution period lo. kelvin > when you gonna let go yours? when finish ukm? you plan to let go all 30+ gerbils? i cant take them all though, maybe about 10+ near 20. depends 1st. my 1st pair is sp agouti and nutmeg, get it from hun back 4 or 5 years back. i got them like teenage like that, damn tame... they both are call yuki for sp agouti and kioko for nutmeg, and they are the queens... kioko quite dominent, so everytime when i intro new gerbs to them, she always fight them, ended up i just leave both of them in one tank. but too bad now cos just left yuki as kioko pass away like half a year back i guess. so now left yuki alone in the tank. bonding take some times, not just once or twice one, you need to do it frequently one. |
