hey another question, I've made a ladder from ice cream sticks few months ago, and i just found out it is pinewood. is it hazardous? people say if the hay is cedar or pine, it will cause health problems

sorry for so long didn't reply. been busy around.
i thought there got some one that reply you.

for my information, if i not mistaken, pinewood is not good for gerbils.
ya, it will cause some health problem.

by the way, if you wan to make some ladder, try use steel or anything that not chewable.
cause if you put the wood or plastic, within few days the thing will gone.

Just use the kitchen towel rolls, the long ones, and cut some ladder-like at one end. And put wherever u like.. I like to put a bunch of different lengths and sizes at a corner, then only pour the bedding, making it like a tunnelfeel for them.. wub.gif

check out the 1st pages for more info...

by the way, glad to know that there still got people keeping gerbils.
ok, here's the thing, how long the pups just pop out?
if you plan to nursing your own, 1st thing, is a hard job.
you have to monitor it most of the time.
get those tube thingin or 'penyedut', i forgot what it call.
then get milk power from pet shop.
here is the time you hand feeding those pups.
cannot be too much, or too little, you have to do based on the pups situation.

i didnt face this kind of problem, so i not sure about it.
if you plan to keep it, separate the pups and mom, since the mom is eating them.
then from here hand feeding. even if die, you cant do much things, at least you did try it.
if you let with the mom, 1-maybe the rest stay alive, 2-all die being eaten.

but sometimes i did heard that the mom eating those pups is a mere action to regain the calsium or what so ever things in the mom body.

this is my knowledge about this case, maybe corret, maybe not.
i hope it some how can help out.
but id wnat know more, chekc out the 1st page link.

Pet family at Taman Megah has some, they have separated the gerbils to male & female tanks. Not happy with the females the last time I went, the males look healthier...

Does anyone have a pair of females available? I'm left with only one female gerbil after my other female passed away from old age... T.T

MMM....to be frank, i bought a pair from the shop before my previous post...not satisfied coz one of my gerbil's hand was deformed (short) suggesting result of inbreed cry.gif ..my fault coz dont thoroughly check during buying..plus the shop dont really separating male & female....
