I got a dual induction stovetop in 2020 and never looked back since.

No need to worry about gas habis. Much better temperature control (and more instant), can get timer and much easier to clean up.

About those complaining for special cookware, all my old pots and pans were induction compatible.

Don't get those cheap portable induction tops, those suck.

I went from cheap induction (like those use for steamboat) to gas to back to a good induction cooker.

Pro and cons for both.
Gas
Pro
- more wok hei not due to higher heat but more freedom during cooking at max power. (combination of lifting the pan/wok + more vigorous pan/wok motion without fearing of scratching the glass top).
- can use with any type of cookware
- cheaper

Cons
- takes up space. Not as sleek
- gas does have some particles which don’t fully combust. Every time I use it, my air quality meter and air purifier spike. If you have an outdoor cooking area, then it doesn’t matter.

Induction
Pro
- heats up extremely fast. Much faster than gas.
- sleek and easy to clean
- consumes more power.
Cons
- only works with certain cookware
- power consumption. (Not just in terms of pricing, but those really high power induction will need a thicker copper cable, else your house gonna trip often.).

Don’t go with ceramic.
It’s slow and chances to stain and blacken the glass top is high.if your stove has one extra, there is no harm for the occasional cookware that’s not compatible, but know that it’s inconvenient to use that.

My recommendation…
If you’re living in a condo or a house where it’s inconvenient to have a powerful hood to suck the air out, go for induction.

Of course, if you live in a house with an outdoorish kitchen and have a maid to help you clean up, then by all means. Go for a gas stove.

Contrary to what general assumption, nope it does not. Of course, you use more wattage if you set to maximum e.g. to boil water quicker...Normally at maximum, it takes less than 90 sec to completely reach boiling temp. Normal daily cooking use about 30-40% power (base on my daily experience)

not really, u will use more gas than electricity actually. pan are heated faster and cooking that require more heat like frying, deep frying, searing, boiling water all faster, you might end up just using the hob at average 1000W for maybe 1 hr a day cooking 3 meals a day.

Been using induction for more than 10 years.
Yes they need different pots and pans - easy way to test is use a magnet, if can stick to the bottom, then its induction compatible. Previously its more expensive to get induction pots/pans, now you can get it quite cheap (subject to quality as well)

Skip the ceramic, i got a hybrid and ended up rarely use the ceramic. Electricity wise not that bad depending on what you cook, simple stir fry that takes minutes wont use that much electricity and i doubt you will be blasting high power wattage for hours

As a person cooks a lot, a gas stove still beats the crap out of induction / infrared, only thing I'll use my side induction is to boil water/soup

Else deep fry, stir fry, searing meat, still gas stove
*
Yes, gas stove ftw. Only problem is always need to check how much gas left and ordering one before it runs out of gas

Use induction cannot toss the wok. Also need to standby a plug.

Use gas for less headaches. Gas very less chance to spoil as not dependent on electronics
*
this one based on my experience ok

I bought reputable induction glass hobs

somehow the glass cracked after a while ( warranty finished already by that time )

the cost to change the panel can buy almost a new set of similar model

then changed to another brand, still using till now

Why not both, and not limited to either one (gas/ induction). What a canto household must have is slow cooker too (for soup 💯)
