You're absolutely right. It makes no $en$e using Amex out of Malaysia because of the double conversion and the extra admin charges. When I'm abroad, UOB is my preferred CC because there are no additional admin charges

Oh.... apparently one needs to be a Maybank Account Holder to qualify for the Amex Gold Credit Card, as stated in their website.

Only Charge card statements can be viewed via Amex website, otherwise it's tied to M2U.

Act, the conversion for forex on Amex is like this:-

Foreign Currency --> USD --> RM

Unless your purchases are made in USD then it's converted straight to RM otherwise there'll be 2 conversions made; into USD and then only into local currency.

The 2.5% administrative charges still applies.

I contacted Amex this morning to check on the payment of utility bills via phone. Apparently, it's not allowed. The only way to pay is either through auto direct debit or to walk into the merchant

Maybe MBB can't approve it for U cause Ur oredi holding the higher level card? From what I know, banks aren't allowed to issue 2 Visas to a person. I only assume the same works for Amex cards

I believe the vendor who sent U the SMS would keep records of it. Now that U mention it, I didn't even keep a copy of the SMS I received! *siGh* Nanti ada dispute macam mana ?! *gulp*

Act, a lot of us are making the switch from Amex Plat to Amex Gold because Amex Plat AF is ridiculously high at RM800 and it's just not waiveable!

I don't care about the status; then again, I'm no male hence that doesn't help me with the females (or so I've been told!) and I oredi have other Platinum cards if I really wanted that ego boost!

The Amex Plat CC is NOT waiveable. The many of us here who has the card did pay RM800 for it.
