I'm sorry to say that you can do that with Master Mode plus a ND filter .
Dont say that it's not possible when you couldn't do that.  smile.gif

What's the Master Mode ? huh.gif

I dunno how you could take a round sun photo when the sun is hiding behind the large cloud that reflected the sun rays out of it.. unsure.gif

not the smallest, u will get very soft images,

around f16 to f20 should do the job. exposure is best to use bulb, becoz u can get the perfect timing.

bulb mode,

using IR remote, press once and shutter opens,
press again and shutter closes.

using Shutter Release button, press and hold it, the shutter opens and closes when u release the button.

usually how long it takes for the nikon service center to clean the dust in the lens and DSLR ?

I have a small tiny dot, suspect to be a dust inside the viewfinder, I try blow it away, seems like it is not on the flip mirror. It is more on inside the pentamirror.

It doesn't affect the image quality, but just not so nice when u look thru the viewfinder...

So how long it takes? I dun like my camera sitting outside for so long lah.. haha
Any charges there? if still under warranty.

the grip actually works like the IR, as it uses IR to trigger the shutter, thus there is not half-way pressed focusing functions.

I notice that there are contact points in the place where we put the battery, those are contact points for battery grip to communicated with the camera, shutter button, dial , function button etc.

if only nikon makes the official battery grip for d40, or someone crack the firmware and make one.

till then, we dun have real battery grip for d40/d40x.

18-200 VR is great and convenient, but I dun like it because :

1) it is not cheap.
2) it suffers from lens creeping.

but i have read few forums saying that it will all eventually creep..
maybe after some usage..well, depends on luck i think..

not cheap means i think it is slightly over-priced loh..

if got the moo, then no problem lah.. rolleyes.gif

USM, SWM, HSM all powerful motor.

Tamron new lense with motor doesnt have name, mean it is just a motor for nikon d40/40x/60's sake. Thus it is affordable. But saying that it focusing slower than the non-motor version, it depends on which model u were using to compare, d50? d70? d80? or d300?

As i know, sony a200's focusing motor is very powerful, even some reported it spoils the Sigma lens.

ppl with expensive camera + expensive / L lenses and produce good quality photo - expected.

ppl with so call noob dslr + kit lens and produce good quality photo - more than expected.

ppl with expensive camera + expensive / L lenses and produce bad quality photo - Gears / environments will be blamed, next upgrading is coming.

ppl that say d40 is a dslr for kids and it cannot take good quality photo - simply ignorant.

ppl that dunno lens makes more difference than body in photo quality - will believe expensive lens must match with expensive body.

ppl that dunno the man behind the camera matters the most - will never know.

if u already decide to get a second hand unit,

i suggest u look for d50,d70 second hand, or even d80 if ur budget allows.

d50/d70/d80 has the focus motor, in case u wanna get those lens with focusing motor,

and d50 2nd hand is really affordable..

Be careful recommending D50 and D70/s - their low light performance is worse than both the D40/x/60 and the D80. Newer cameras will also have better metering and colors (for the your pics, not the camera - they're all black lol).

I'd suggest either stick with a D40 (to save cost) or go get a D80. Skip the older gen stuff.

Use the saved cash for flash or lens.

I see, I only knew d40 noise handling is slightly better than d50, but not sure about the d70/s.
