PSA: to prospective Pixel 9 series buyers, this year the Tensor processor is still under Samsung manufacturing process.
Tensor processors from Pixel 10 onwards will be switching to TSMC manufacturing process (which could see significant battery improvements) |

QUOTE(yayiyu99 @ Aug 5 2024, 01:59 PM) There are a lot of rich hardcore Android fanboys here in Malaysia looking for a pure Android software experience I am not rich. The pure Android experience is just nice, can't get elsewhere already. OnePlus used to be good one, until they changed from OxygenOS to ColorOS. Now we have Nothing, which is great and have affordable models, but who knows.. might become ColorOS in the future. Hopefully they stay to clean or almost pure Android experience, and at the same time providing essential features like native app lock, dual app.. which Pixel lacks.QUOTE(attw @ Aug 5 2024, 10:40 AM) https://soyacincau.com/2024/08/01/google-pi...c-senheng-senq/ It's the chip, 5k for exynos.. must think twice, still can also maybe since this 4th gen, but better check reviews first. They very smart, didn't mention samsung in the even earlier. QUOTE(Natsukashii @ Aug 14 2024, 09:17 AM) Google is the market leader, catching up to it takes time besides Google invested in the infrastructure to enable that kind of cloud processing. I am more curious on how Apple will catch up with it.However Google release Gemini to other Android phones too, they just keep some exclusive feature of the Gemini for the Pixel 9 Natsukashii liked this post

For some reason, the Pixel 5G Support page still don't list Malaysia (MY) yet – not even for previous models like the 7 and 8. Hoping when 9 releases, we become officially listed there

I thought they've would be bit aggressive in terms of price since they're officially debuting here for first time but no. They directly competing Samsung and Apple here. Let's see how grey importers set their price. |

Later after few features drop update other android phone also got. Really like the 9 pro but the screen size already increase a bit from last year, so the phone have became a bit taller and wider..really interested if it was 6.1-6.2” only |

Saw a discussion on 1 of the Google Pixel Malaysia fb group, it seems that Pixel 9 Pro XL for Malaysia set screen is different? Can refer to the spec stated here Pixel 9 Pro XL supposed to be Super Actua display, but for Malaysia set it's only Actua display and don't have LTPO? skylinelover, Evirober, and 1 other liked this post

PO at Senheng is by far the better option. RM250 Pixel voucher + additional RM50 voucher + RM100 off if you use UOB/SPAY with free 2-year additional extended warranty for members.

Yeah p10 will use tsmc instead of samsung, no guarantee with battery performance but you can see difference between current samsung/tsmc manufactured chips. TSMC generally less heat than Samsung when you run task that needs power. I'm thinking of getting the Pixel 9 Pro 256GB model but curious to see what extras/freebies will be bundled with it when it is released in September 2024.

QUOTE(soul78 @ Aug 15 2024, 09:59 AM) from my experience, better not unlock bootloader. By doing that you cant use GPay, Astro (maybe), besides now its official Pixel in Malaysia you get most of the features, except some which are exclusive to USA, such as call screening. Rooting the device sure can make full use of the feature but the tradeoff can be quite pricy. I used to root my Pixel 4xl, until once my phone security got compromise by installing some Magisk Module , it started sending premium sms, end my my phone bill cost like 400 plus, lucky Digi allow to waive it, and at the end I need to reformat my phone. too much risk of doing the rooting Agito666 liked this post

guys , need recommendation for screen protector please. the last time I am using whitestone dome for my Pixel 6, now I cant find it for Pixel 9 xl. Any alternatives? I seen some market as hydrogel (what the heck is that?) is it hard enough to withstand some fingernail dents to it?

QUOTE(Natsukashii @ Aug 14 2024, 09:15 AM) I am not rich. The pure Android experience is just nice, can't get elsewhere already. OnePlus used to be good one, until they changed from OxygenOS to ColorOS. Now we have Nothing, which is great and have affordable models, but who knows.. might become ColorOS in the future. Hopefully they stay to clean or almost pure Android experience, and at the same time providing essential features like native app lock, dual app.. which Pixel lacks. I agree. I think another Android phone I used that is quite close to vanilla Android would be Sony but I won’t touch a Sony phone now - not at that kinda prices! Haha, that’s a good point about the chipmaker though. For my kinda usage though, my only concern is standby battery drain, which was a problem in Exynos chips of old. If that’s not an issue then I’m good. It's the chip, 5k for exynos.. must think twice, still can also maybe since this 4th gen, but better check reviews first. They very smart, didn't mention samsung in the even earlier. P10 will be TSMC, but still made by Google, and how do Google perform on their first attempt on things? QUOTE(fkinmeng @ Aug 15 2024, 02:55 AM) Saw a discussion on 1 of the Google Pixel Malaysia fb group, it seems that Pixel 9 Pro XL for Malaysia set screen is different? Could be a wrong info there on the Support page, or the product official page. If there are 2 variants of the screen, they would have to show the specs. They never mentioned anything regarding this nerfed display at the media briefing. And it doesn't make sense, why would the rest of the world get LTPO and in MY, SG & IN get non-LTPO?Can refer to the spec stated here Pixel 9 Pro XL supposed to be Super Actua display, but for Malaysia set it's only Actua display and don't have LTPO? Past models, with different screens come with different name, Pixel 8 Pro (LTPO), Pixel 8 (non-LTPO). We still could get scammed though by G. |

We still could get scammed though by G. Looking at the discourse, i can only deduce 2 things: - The specifications sheet is using different means of measurements but essentially all Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL models are using LTPO displays - In the past, Google sourced flexible POLED screens from LG and Samsung to meet with supply demands. Fast forward today, given how the Pixel 9 Pro and Pro XL models are using the latest Samsung M14 OLED panels that will also be used in the upcoming iPhone 16 models, it doesn't make business sense why they will procure a "nerfed" LTPO display from a separate supplier when Samsung is one of the largest supplier of OLED phone panels Globally and are unable to cope with supply demands. Moreover, from a B2B and supply perspective, Google already contracts Samsung to fabricate their Tensor chips using modifier Exynos chips, use their crappy modems, etc so it makes sense they will procure a few hardware parts from Samsung as a supplier to get a better supplier discount But take it with a grain of salt or until an official statement from Google verifies if this is true or not. The average consumer/tech nerd will always justify increased prices with better hardware - Google is slowly acknowledging this matters and is emulating Apple's iPhone premium pricing and hardware positioning strategy. That is very disappointing. Cancelled my PO straightaway. As much as I wanted to get back to Google in trying the phone, this kind of shady practice by big company like Google or anyone for that matter, is not something that I would put my support on. Considering the expensive price at launch with gimped display, well perhaps when there's a massive discount by end of the year then. And what's more disappointing is that the product official page is published with the 'standard' Super Actua display without mentioning at all regarding the nerfed spec of the display here except on the Help page. Who the hell check the Help page when pre ordering phones? Lel. Kudos to the one who found out about this event. re LTPO issue, someone posted his question to Google regarding this in Facebook under Google Pixel Malaysia group, how showed his conversation with Google support and they confirmed IN, MY sets for Pro XL are indeed using Super Actua Display.

QUOTE(chriscym @ Aug 15 2024, 04:36 PM) Yes check the comments section there is a screenshot of his conversation from Fakrul Musa I'm afraid Google Support only draws the info directly from the respective country's official product page that shows it has the Super Actua display that might well be inaccurate if the spec on the Help Page is accurate.https://www.facebook.com/share/p/csSzUtSgpY...mibextid=oFDknk https://support.google.com/pixelphone/threa...802218746318-AP One member on the Pixel community responded that it might well be accurate on the Help page since this distinction is well published for the Pixel 9 spec. Either way, all these confusions, if it was a mistake of info, is such an amateurish in nature by the like of Google, it's like this is their first time selling phones. |

For all the confusion, might be best to wait it out for the early adopters to confirm if the display is really Super Actua Display.
After paying top dollar for the phone and finding out that it is a lesser spec ed phone would be a real bummer. |

I read somewhere that unless we have a side by side comparison between the super actua and non super will be very difficult to tell, the super actua display is brighter and is the key differences between super and non super. I don't think that is a show stopper for many, just minor difference in peak brightness. Most important is the user experience, life is short, just enjoy the phone and the pixel experience. After paying top dollar for the phone and finding out that it is a lesser spec ed phone would be a real bummer. |

US or SG set is cheaper than MY, unfortunately that is the reality, TBH I dont like shopping in MY everything else is more expensive compared to overseas, but the Pixel 9 we have here is the best offer from Google as the official product which I am happy. Yes it does feel inferior (Anak Tiri), but not a show stopper. However that is just me and my opinion. Order placed yesterday for the XL pro it will be something to shout about if the US set is way cheaper than MY set and we are getting anak tiri service just my 2 cents refer to this article |

I wouldn't mind if the peak brightness differs by some nits between panels, but the absence of the LTPO panel means we would not get that low refresh rate; less efficient panel. And why on earth would i pay for something that is advertised as Pixel 9 Pro/ XL but not getting what the rest of the world gets.Malaysian consumers are always F'ed upside down and we have no protections from the Gov since like forever. Same shite happened to LG Malaysia for example, priced their G series OLED at price way higher than most overseas however they wouldn't give the 5-year panel warranty to us here. And there's nothing we could do bout it except to accept and move on. If the panel is indeed different then they would not get my money unless they would discount it heavily in the affected countries. Nick Takuya liked this post

For the display panel, I think it is mistake of the information, even if Malaysia no strong of consumer protection. How about Singapore? Singapore also listed not using the Super version.

Classic bias - looks like Tech YouTubers will face scrutiny and be turned down for saying negative things about Pixel devices. Kinda defeats the purpose of constructive criticism if improvement is what every consumer expects year on year with new product releases. What a joke. |

also question for the person using fold , i cannot decide IF (touch wood) my pixel 5 brick and i need new phone, my choice maybe towards to bigger screen pixel xl or maybe fold because i am having old man vision now i need bigger screen for manga reading.
then about the fold, since i never have people using fold type phone, does current android OS fold inside screen (let's call it B) and front screen (A) is independent app mode? scenario like this: i reading certain title manga with B inside office, then my boss come to near my then i quickly close the fold and use other app on screen A... so question is 1) if i open back fold, can it resume where i left reading? 2) or it is just mirror mode on both side? 3) or it have the way setup both inside and outside screen like dual monitor work independently? |

QUOTE(emy_xvidia @ Aug 16 2024, 10:10 AM) Just called Senheng whether can undo my cancellation, if cannot then have to reorder. My CC has been charged anyway so have to ensure no double charges. A mess. wouldn't lens screen protector affect camera image quality and focus? Then have to reorder the Nillkin case, cheap TG and lens protector on Shopee again. |

QUOTE(Kagekiyo @ Aug 16 2024, 08:40 AM) https://x.com/Marks_Tech/status/1824192876768792794 I wonder what they mean by Team Pixel, was it something like phone being sponsored by Google to those youtubers to review, so they are tied to some agreement ? If any independent reviewer buy their own then there are no such bias I supposeClassic bias - looks like Tech YouTubers will face scrutiny and be turned down for saying negative things about Pixel devices. Kinda defeats the purpose of constructive criticism if improvement is what every consumer expects year on year with new product releases. What a joke. |

QUOTE(chriscym @ Aug 16 2024, 10:55 AM) I've been using it on other phones for quite some time and never noticed any differences on the image and video qualities. What I can say is to clean up the smudges is very easy just wipe it off without ever worrying I'd scratch those original lenses. It's more for the protection against micro scratches in my pocket or bag that's all. Just for the peace of mind. Most China lense protectors on Shopee are simple thin glasses. Glass is glass. If it ever did affect the quality in my view it's negligible. chriscym liked this post

QUOTE(emy_xvidia @ Aug 16 2024, 10:16 AM) Tempered glass. Just the cheap brand one, iMak. I kinda change my phone often so I no more use the expensive brand one. Cheap TG/SP like Smartdevil is really good to be honest but they don't have yet for Pixel. I also placed order just now, can't find much choices at the moment. I was trying to avoid ultra cheap ones, last time my pixel 4, I ended up changing a few times due to poor quality, hope the iMak can tahan haha |

If any independent reviewer buy their own then there are no such bias I suppose QUOTE(gempakstarz @ Aug 16 2024, 11:02 AM) According to Reddit post, Team Pixel is an independent group of fanboys that are somewhat like a influencer hub for Google to market their services and products.MadebyGoogle or the parent company, Alphabet will have their own in house or outsourced PR firm who will engage tech reviewers/media/press separately. So far no mention about them weeding out tech reviewers besides Mrwhosetheboss who was critical of the pixel series in the past lol. (https://x.com/Mrwhosetheboss/status/1824004401343713325) It's important for us at potential customers to consider reading both real user feedback & media. I usually will place 80% weightage on real user reviews to help me make a purchase decision since most are using their own money and not sponsored to avoid bias. QUOTE(Agito666 @ Aug 16 2024, 10:44 AM) so question is It come back to the manufacturer and the customisation. For N3 which I am using as daily driver it can choose to mirror or not mirror the screens1) if i open back fold, can it resume where i left reading? 2) or it is just mirror mode on both side? 3) or it have the way setup both inside and outside screen like dual monitor work independently? For example .. watch YouTube in front screen and open inner it will be mirroring the front one if I set it as mirror If not will be independent I think .. I forgot already haha since I mirror it. As for pixel I am not sure though how's the setup is Agito666 liked this post

Pixel 9 Pro XL: assuming you take Digi 24 months RM140 plan (cheapest) contract, RM201 per month for device, so the total for 24 months would be RM4824. you buy device outright, you need RM5699. your current monthly RM53, (RM140-RM53)*24 = additional RM2088. RM4824 + RM2088 = RM6912. you lose more than you gain. This post has been edited by fkinmeng: Aug 16 2024, 05:03 PM |

I think telco plan is ok but then if U have to fork out more than U loose a lot .. for example now I am paying the old Celcom plan 98+40+40 I think for family plan .. now I need to upgrade at least to 138 for main plan and not sure about the subs plan .. so I am paying more and on top need to pay 200+ for the phone
Well for me a loss But then again I will ask celcomdigi on the family plan thingy and will report back 😁 This post has been edited by cruzzmz: Aug 16 2024, 05:15 PM |

QUOTE(fkinmeng @ Aug 16 2024, 05:19 PM) my calculation is only based on the additional loses. always count cost, the loses for me is kinda like.... psychologically "scare to lose / missing out deal" if you wanna count your total cost: old plan and buy the phone without contract: (RM53*24) + RM5699 = RM6971 new plan and buy phone with 2 years contract: (RM140*24)+(RM201*24) = RM8184 RM8184 - RM6971 = RM1213 meaning you need fork out additional RM1213 if you sign 2 years contract. for me it is penipu scammer tactic hahaha like lable price number with 1499 ( it is 1500 but trick people like 1400) calculate cost is way more reasonable because can straight see how much i have to folk out for monthly basis tak mampu pay can see straight on first glance This post has been edited by Agito666: Aug 16 2024, 05:34 PM |

Feels like Senq have the best value overall right, slightly lower (or lowest for now), but if you join the member, you get up to 3 years warranty (including google's own 1 year warranty)

QUOTE(gempakstarz @ Aug 16 2024, 09:20 PM) Still trying to see if i can trade in my phone anot first (heading to Senq to ask tomorrow). For now is 3759, but i'm seeing how the deduction with the UOB card words (-RM100). But i think for extra warranty is worth it? I had my previous pixel from the UK and i'm always in an unnecessary fear fro breaking and having to send to Singapore for repair. |

The extra warranty is definitely worth it la. Nowadays "extended" warranty would cost you money one. to be able to get it FOC, why not? If they can't fix it, then back to the original price that you purchase as store credit. For now is 3759, but i'm seeing how the deduction with the UOB card words (-RM100). Anyone plan to buy pixel pro fold from Singapore? Right now if you buy one they're giving $899 in Google credits back to you I think. Worth it.

There are differences beyond the same screen sizes and battery capacity: -RAM, display (Super Actua vs Actua vs resolution), cameras (front and back). |

For those prefer better selfie camera, zoom camera, more efficiently, higher resolution and brighter screen, more future proof as bigger RAM which is a plus point for AI functions that required more RAM but don’t prefer bigger screen size XL edition.https://m.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone...&idPhone2=13219 This post has been edited by Andrewtst: Aug 18 2024, 10:23 AM |

I am planning to upgrade from my current iPhone 13 Pro Max to Google Pixel 9 Pro XL.
I have tried out the demo units of the Pixel 9 Pro XL. However, I have a few concerns which I hope you guys could help me with. 1) I'm an active subscriber of Microsoft 365 Family plan for many years now, and I backup all my photos and contents in my OneDrive. I don't plan to continue using the 1 year free subscription of Gemini Advanced (with Google One 2TB storage) once it expires. My current Google free storage stands at 15GB (81% used). Say I did backup some photos and stuff into Google Photo/Drive during the free trial and it exceeds the free quota and starts pouring into the paid 2TB storage, what happens to these excess contents that I stored once it expires? I am aware that my storage would be automatically reduced to 15GB afterwards, but I read that I would need to delete contents until less than the free quota to be able to continue using Gmail, Google Drive, Doc etc. Is that true? 2) I noticed that some photo AI features, eg. Magic Editor, Video Boost, requires the photo to be backed up first. Since I am using OneDrive (and not Google One) to backup these photos, will I have any problem using these tools/features? 3) Upon expiry of the free 1 year Gemini Advanced, what features that would be limited/restricted behind the paywall? Gemini would continue to work without any AI subscription, right? What about Gemini Live, Pixel Studio, Call Notes, Add Me? 4) We are based in Malaysia. I'm aware that some features are region locked. Would these Call Assist features, ie Call Screening, Direct My Call, Hold for Me, be available in Malaysia? Thanks in advance! |

QUOTE(irenic @ Aug 18 2024, 05:01 PM) I'm one of the people. Currently testing the Pixel 9, but i definitely aim for Pixel 9 Pro once it becomes available. Hopefully it will by the time I return this pixel 9. Testing the unit for Telco? Usually Telco has a phone testing team for new phone that is yet to release. |

QUOTE(fjoru103 @ Aug 18 2024, 09:54 PM) Price , P9 Pro has better camera and etc and important for me is the size, but ya price is the main concern I want the pixel to replace my s24 ultra as my camera phone. My main phone now is Fold6 which unfortunately the camera isn't that great, especially the zoom lens.So that's one of the reason i need that Telephoto lens. Actually if you love this size, don't mind 60-120Hz display, rarely take selfies, and dont need telephoto lens, in my opinion just go for pixel 9. It is good enough. Somemore now pre-order you will get free storage upgrade, which might not be around for pixel 9 pro later. QUOTE(chriscym @ Aug 18 2024, 10:35 PM) Testing the unit for Telco? They offer to give me RM10 voucher. I said no, either refund the RM8 or refund whole thing or I raise to Consumer Tribunal and they ask me to check with them after 2 working days.... never buy from SenQ. |

This Fold6 width perfectly fits my hand for one hand usage. i will go see the panel is LTPO or not hahaha Get the pixel fold lah ... for sure better than the remote without IR blaster that you have now hahaha But if i got the chance to get a Pixel 9 Pro Fold, surely bye bye bye Fold6 😹 jychow liked this post

But I had very bad experience with them now, they charge me RM8 courier fee which they acknowledge is their fault so they suggest that they will cancel my order and recreate a new one, but problem is they cant promise I will receive it on thursday as first batch I should have order from Shopee, their official price is cheaper than SenQ now with the Rm250 + RM500 voucher. Just that they do not have the additional 1 year warranty. SenQ really a china man run business, they problem now is my problem... Gold_Moderator liked this post

QUOTE(Gold_Moderator @ Aug 20 2024, 09:27 AM) I just made a reorder... RM100 admin fees applies to certain cards 12 months and above EPP, if you use Maybank there is no charge. They are really a bunch of amateur chinaman working for SenQ, feels like they never even bother to verify the charging items and let the system go live, I notice that they also wrongly charge the additional 1 year warranty. But the new order has now been cleared of Shipping and Warranty extra charge. |

QUOTE(chriscym @ Aug 20 2024, 11:29 PM) why not wait for the Pro? I remember that non Pro will not get free 1year Gemini Advance , Google is stingy to give it to Pro models Don't really care about AII just want a basic Pixel to replace my old Pixel 3 Main phone will be changed out to Xperia 1 V AP set probably and give the Pixel 6 128GB to my father to use Let my fund free up more and maybe one more round of price drop for it first |

This is valueble sharing since this is the first time Pixel devices are officially sold in Malaysia.Google just listed an out-of-warranty mail in service for Msia Region - Google MY Service Whether the in country warranty or post warranty service is good will be critical to determine if buyers see value in paying premium for local sets versus cheaper sets sold from US by resellers. It's still early days but time will tell whether the official service center is able to deliver good service. |

I received my Pixel 9 pro thin fit case from Spigen in metal grey while waiting for my Pixel 9 pro to arrive in Sept. Here's a side by side comparison of the case versus the Pixel 8 pro and Pixel 8a. A better visual comparison can be found here: https://www.phonearena.com/phones/size/Goog...144,12219,12285 Side note: the pixel 9 series review embargo should be lifted on 22 August 2024 for those interested to get the first dibs from tech reviewers. However, I'll still rather read real user reviews instead since tech reviewers tend to gleam over the stuff we already know. QUOTE(Nick Takuya @ Aug 21 2024, 03:11 PM) Yes, that's right. For the pixel 8 series, the camera bar visor is made of aluminum. Aluminum is a soft metal so it can easily get scratched up with day to day usage. If you're deciding whether to protect the Pixel 9 camera bar and is also considering to purchase a case that exposes the camera bar, consider buying a protective film to prevent scratches. |

QUOTE(Doomsday @ Aug 21 2024, 04:33 PM) The only reliable source of data I can find is from Soya cincau who states that Google Malaysia is going to sell the Pixel 9 pro model and shared the official pricing but they only mentioned the availability is in "September 2024"."The Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL will be available from 22 August 2024. If you’re looking for the 6.3″ Pixel 9 Pro, the device will be released in Malaysia sometime in September and here’s the official pricing: Pixel 9 Pro 128GB – RM5,199 Pixel 9 Pro 256GB – RM5,699 Pixel 9 Pro 512GB – RM6,299" I assume that since Senq, Lazada, shoppee, urban republic & the big 3 telcos are the official Retail channels that they will sell the 9 Pro model too but things can always change. Who knows. https://soyacincau.com/2024/08/14/google-pi...official-price/ This post has been edited by Kagekiyo: Aug 21 2024, 05:10 PM |

QUOTE(corad @ Aug 21 2024, 09:49 PM) looking to change from a Galaxy S23+ , but trying to find a reason to switch from Samsung. I'm also using the same phone and i don't plan to switch yet, it's a beast of a phone for majority of ppl. Maybe i don't see the reason to change phone on a yearly basis.did some light scrolling and the only unique feature is the Pixel being able to stand vertically ? Anything else I'm missing ? |

Based on my initial P9 usage observations, the 5G coverage is not as good as Snapdragon devices. Only once in a while I see 5G. It's not a big deal but something to take note.

And in 5G area mine always lock at 4G. Don't know why, could be because my battery's currently at just over 30%

QUOTE(emy_xvidia @ Aug 22 2024, 12:06 PM) If you use iMak TG, it barely covers the screen. And have to press harder a bit for fingerprint to detect. Really k-iMak ler. Thank God Shopee belanja. QUOTE(rip_code @ Aug 22 2024, 12:07 PM) The best tempered screen protector that you can consider is the Spigen Glas.tR EZ Fit selling for RM98 on Lazada. It comes with 2 x pieces and a aligner kit to ensure a accurate fit.Alternative brands that i have used which are equally good but only sold via Amazon US are: Anfilm and Omoton. I can confirm that WiFi calling doesn't work on Celcom as it shows HD call on WiFi. Also, there's no option in settings to turn ON WiFi calling. Others on Digi/Maxis please do test and share your results.
