What does this have to do with inheritance tax?

Places like Singapore have one of the highest rates of home ownership

Japan despite their inheritance tax also very high rates of home ownership

I don't think inheritance taxes in Japan (and other countries with inheritance taxes) are the reason why people are not having kids

Why are there so many cheap, empty houses in Japan? Many of theses houses have been left for different reasons, though the catalyst is often the death of the original owner. Sometimes an heir refuses to accept the home that their families left behind

This is happening everywhere even in msia where all roads lead to either kl, pineng or jb.

The reality is that people go to where the jobs are, and the good jobs are in the big cities cities. If area got good jobs that can support families (Big mining, DCs, manufacturing) then people will move there.

I don't understand the population decline issue in general. Why is population decline something many countries are worried about? Compared to 50 years ago population is a damn lot higher. So whats the fuss? Many things were better 50 years ago.

US already slowly moving towards a work from home (WFH) culture. People are moving out of big cities and moving into more rural town/cities due to lower house prices.

I believe many jobs in Japan can do WFH, but Japanese culture is probably too old fashion/stubborn to do WFH.

Japan is still a highly manufacturing country. Can’t wfh for these.
